- I wanted to do a sit down video in front of the car explaining it for you guys today however the Apex team couldn’t pry me out of the driver seat. This video is of my fifth lap in the car and as you can see I immediately fell in love with it. This car has quickly moved right into first position in my fleet. I can’t stress enough how much fun I had and how this very well could be the best car I’ve ever driven on the Nürburgring. Sure the GT2 may be faster, but this engages the driver in a whole new way!
Many of you have asked what the purpose of this car is and I am seeing it as my private taxi! That means you can book a lap in this car but only with me driving and only on the days that I’m there. In our booking platform you can already see some dates for August :-) apex-taxi.de

Buttery smooth lines, no sawing at the wheel, your idea of taking it easy is most people's mega lap. On some of your corners I learnt a new line, the next corner is exactly where you want it. A master class in taking it easy... Well driven Sir !

Sports bikes are slower in the corners compared to sportscars and therefore get absolutely clapped by almost every car on the track.
I'm in shock watching you. Why oh why can't I be in that passenger seat? You are an utterly incredible driver, as evidenced by your patience with the guy on the motorcycle. I'm also impressed with your modesty and how humble you are too. Well done.

Most problems on the ring are with bike riders that don't look in their mirrors and think they are going fast, had the same problem multiple times. Nothing against them in general but they should have banned them a long time a go (actually they do it sometimes...)

This video shows why I dont drive a bike there or I hate to find bikes on my laps. But it also showed your experience and awareness right there. Great drive Robert, some more laps with the car and it will be perfect. Some people just think that just because that looks like any other McLaren it drives the same and doesn't need the time to get used too.

Watched enough of these videos to learn the Nordschleife layout by heart. My goodness do I need to book a ride around the ring once I'm in Germany. I'd soil my pants in the 620R though, good lord this thing goes!
Wow, just WOW!! You look like you are having so much fun with your new "toy." It's amazing how calm you are and how light your grip is on the wheel even while snaking around the bends at crazy speeds. Ooops, sorry I forgot that was you taking it easy. 😂 I just love the sounds the 620R makes. It almost sounds like the car is taking a deep breath when you let off the gas. Awesome stuff Robert!!

Aside from your great driving skills and this obviously amazing new track rocket, what amazes me the most are these GoPro cameras, the Hero 8 in this case.
This is TV Quality ! There is literally *ZERO* shaking in this footage ! Especially in the top and the right part of the screen. As if these cameras were mounted
on or inside an expensive professional gimbal setup. Nope, all that amazing image stabilization is built into that tiny little box behind the front mirror.
What they are doing with these little cameras is astonishing to say the least.
Camera tech sure has come along way hasn’t it?

Yes, I was really nervous for the passenger as well. They have no control or knowledge of anything that’s going on around them

On EMS Nordschliefes vid at 40 secs in the car makes a wonderful crack on downshift into Adenauer Forest. Can't wait to see the suspension setup video and find out the dates when you're doing laps in it. Please don't go on holiday for a month in September 😂

For some reason I got a good understanding of the cars braking power in this video. Thought you were going to overshoot the turn in a few times but it just pulls up so well

It’s the messed up tire pressure sensors telling me that my pressures are too low although that’s where they need to be for track use. It’s an absolute joke and we will either code it out or just remove the sensors

Love this car. What’s cool about it, and what makes it very special, is it’s the first time McLaren capitalizes their advantage of the lightweight carbon tub for pure track capability. Porsche RS / Manthey / Schirmer optimize their cars beyond the capability of regular road McLarens, because of their sheer focus and track optimization, whilst LTs are comprimized for the road. Now McLaren is playing the same game.

I'm from Australia and I am planning a visit to the ring and I will book a ride with you in the 620R hopefully in near future. I am going to the McLaren dealer to enquire about availability of a 620R. here.
