Beautiful demonstration! Thank you! I wish Studiologic had an option for getting their 73 key Numa X Piano with built in speakers.. That would be so good!!
@@amitev Stage pianos are beginning to have monitor speakers. See the RD-88 and the Korg SV2S. The Roland FP-60X and 90X models are almost stage pianos too. Manufacturers have realised that many pro gigs are happening outside the stereotypical stage setting.
Elazar, bear in mind that the Numa Fatar TP110 action (as on the 73/88 models) is not a graded action. If you're thinking of playing rhapsodic piano music or stride piano, you might be disappointed. It should work beautifully with keyboard splits, epianos and organs, plus saxes and violins because of the aftertouch.
Great video, congratulations 😎👍 Very informative comparison. I had Roland FP30, I really enjoyed that keyboard action and piano sound quality as a budget digital piano of course.
Thank you for your great review , I agree 100% with your opinion about Roland sound but I hope to see more reviews about StudioLogic As Kelivin said... There is not much information about Numa X 73 / 88 and GT.
Very informative! I have been trying to find more information on the Studiologic Numa X Piano GT without much success. This answers many of those questions and even more helpful to compare against the FP30X. Which preset piano sound was used on the Studiologic? I agree that the Roland sounds better overall, making the Studiologic a better candidate for VSTs. User reports on the action touchweights seem to be accurate then, as they suggest that the TP400W action in the Studiologic are less heavy than your average fully weighted digital and closer to that of an acoustic. Your comparison to the Steinway was very helpful. I would like to see more videos on the Studiologic and your experiences with it. I'm sure many others would as well. Your honest remarks and comments are quite refreshing.
@Optimus514 I completely agree but unfortunately I just did a review in base what I owned. I sold the roland and got the cp88. I will make a video soon comparing keybeds between them.
@@Optimus514 definitely agree with what you’re saying I recently ordered the Gt as well. I was tempted to get the Roland Fp90x, but I went with my decision for the Numa X Gt 300 note polyphony is craZy they are way ahead of the game I just wish the internal piano sounds were better. I’ll be using Keyscape, Pianoteq etc., so I won’t go wrong. I hope they can add better piano sounds or expansion packs in the near future tho. They are not horrible, the USA Grand sounds pretty descent. How do you like your Gt?
This is wonderful thank you! Originally I wanted to get the Studiologic SL88 Grand, but I delayed my purchase 2 years, and now this thing has released and I can't decide if I can afford the extra $1500 or not haha, thank you for the review!
I own the Numa X Piano GT and i have to say overall, it’s incredible. Phenomenal action. Truly authentic behaving acoustic piano sounds, although they can be a little harsh in the upper mid ranges. I use Native Instruments Noire and the combination of the Numa X Piano GT action with the Noire VSTs is stunning.
Great video demonstration. I’ve heard good things about this particular board great work! I’ve also considered purchasing the Roland FP-90X I actually enjoyed that model the touch is nice and feel is amazing, but I need my mod wheel and pitch blend more so the mod lol. It sounds great tho had a chance to play it a few months ago! Great comparison tho I did hear the F does sound slightly out of tune barely 😂.
I have a numa x gt and a Roland Fantom with the PHA-50 action and definitely prefer playing piano sounds on the Studiologic. Great review. The piano sounds in the fp-30x are better than the Fantom in my opinion as well. They use the newer Roland sound engine. The pha-4 action is so awesome for budget keyboards.
Do you have the fantom 8? Have you tried comparing VSTs with the numa x gt vs the roland to see which one is better for that? I think it has high res midi the roland, at least other models with that action. Regards
@@segundacuenta726 Yes, thanks for the question. I have the Fantom 8. I prefer playing PianoTeq piano's on the Numa X GT. The action is a bit lighter than the Fantom 8 and feels more like a real Grand Piano. Rolands keybed action is awesome in both the PHA-50 and the PHA-4 though, and all of them have great sensitivity if you go through the PIanoTeq setup. I also have the Komplete Ultimate collection and all those pianos work great on either. Pianoteq is still my favorite Piano VST though.
@@lifeismusic9411 Thanks for the reply. How do fast repeated notes and trills compare when using VST? between the pha 50 action and the numa x gt. Also the escapement how would you say it compares? Have you tried the Studiologic Sl88 grand? I have that one, and when doing very fast repeated notes some random notes sound very loud (often called hot notes). I think very probably the pha 50 and the numa gt would fair better. regards
@@segundacuenta726fast trills and repeated notes seem to function fairly similarly on both keybeds. I never tried the SL88 Grand but I did try the studio once. It was good enough to play well but I sent it back when I saw the Numa X GT come out. I’ll actually be selling my Fantom 8 soon because I’m not finding that I really need any of the included sounds. Mostly using VSTs now and a few of the built in sounds on the Numa X. The pianos are kind of dead for me on the Fantom even with the tweaking I’ve tried.
@@lifeismusic9411 Good to know they are comparable. The Sl88 studio is much worse than the sl88 grand as far as fatar action goes. Otherwise they are similar in midi and display etc. Yep, once you get used to VSTs superior sound, internal sounds become obsolete. Thanks and congratulations on having good stuff.
Excellent video! I appreciate your honest comments. I have the Roland FP 30X and I really like it. I'm getting ready to buy a second piano to leave at my girlfriend's house (she lives in another city) and I have to decide if I want another FP 30X or if I should buy something different. This helped me make up my mind, and I'm leaning toward another FP 30X.
The StudioLogic Numa sounded better to me. I know that it is a matter of different things sounding better to different people, but there is something in the lower mids in the Numa X that hits me like a real piano. The Nord pianos have that same low richness. My hearing is shot from about 10K up, so I know that I am not the best judge.
0:44 vs 1:40 ...unfortunately the Reverbs are set to opposite Small Room vs Large Hall making it very difficult to judge. I think the Reverbs should be turned Off for a fair comparison.
Beautiful playing. I preferred the Roland FP-30X, but I'd like to hear these pianos with no reverb/effects. The Numa sounded saturated in effects (not very natural) but I think the Roland has more dimension in the tone anyway. I also preferred the Yamaha CK Stage Keyboard's piano/e-piano tones over the Numa's tones in a recent comparison by Woody Piano Shack. But I can't bring myself to spend that sort of money on a board with a GHS action. It's a real shame! I wanted the Numa to do better. I guess the RD-88 will stand up well to the Numa too. Might get one of those.
The Roland is smoother, the studio logic is a little harsher but the studio logic is better to play out on because its more like the Nord the way its set up.
For some reason the attack on the XGT was very pronounced in your comparison, perhaps the touch curve needs to be changed but it felts like you were playing very energetically on the XGT compared to the way you played on the FP30X so I'd not really consider this a fair comparison. Sounds have completely different characters, that one is easy to agree on, thanks anyway for the effort and the useful explanations.
You probably felt it that way. Like as I said the key action on the GT it is easier than the roland. Your fingers can definitely go faster. I prefer the touch on the Gt. I did change the velocity curve on the GT. But I mainly use VST. I did sell my Roland. If I was completely bias towards the Roland i would kept it. But again I just mentioned in the video that I liked the piano tone on the Roland wich has nothing to do with the touch or mechanism of the keys. VST will win over any keyboard. My favorite vst so far is the keyscape. Makes a perfect combination with the studiologic.
@@ispianist Thank you Israel for the prompt response, I'm also a VST fan if it helps (especially Pianoteq), I'd use either showcased keyboards as controller mainly and therefore not really caring for their internal sounds. Like say MIDI values from 0-20? Thanks again and keep well

It's Piano Sample (Roland) vs Piano Rendering (studio logic)
Not quite. I understand that the piano patches on the Numa are largely sampled, unlike its other patches which are modelled.
