Takes getting used to. I haven't played in a few years, so I've forgotten most of the shortcuts. Cdda and CoQ really should redo the ui/controls to make it even better imo
@@jackhazardous4008 this is true to me as well, i can have one set of overcomplex controls in my head at a time and it's DF currently. CDDA has always seemed relatively impenetrable to me.
The controls really arent that bad. Most of it is logical stuff. Numpad for movement. E to examine, D to drop, C to chat, G to grab, I for inventory, etc. Everything else you can look up at any time with ? and menu controls are displayed all the time. You should have it down in a few hours
Semi-pro tip: When you are bleeding, if you empty your hands and wait in a single spot you will put pressure on the wound and stop the bleeding a lot quicker!
It's honestly a little OP at times. One of my characters got shot in the chest by a turret at the start of the game and I stopped the bleeding by just pressing on the wound for a while. I did end up with hypovolemia or whatever, blood loss shock, but I survived.
@@YourPalKindred Note: Extreme levels of bleeding cannot be hand-pressed closed anymore(in experimental branch). Source: Ate a .30-06 from hostile survivor, had to run back to a bathroom to find real heal
@@YourPalKindred Ironically, if this is modelled so close to reality, the lower the blood pressure from blood loss, the slower the bleeding and the higher the chances a wound will self-close. Though it is a fine line between blood loss and hypovolemic shock which can cause the heart to stop from being over-stressed.
If anyone wants to know how complex CDDA; I’ve been playing four about four years and *still* find new things about every time I play. The game is MASSIVE in content. High learning curve but it really feels like a game that can be played forever
Today i played a bionic soldier, ran into the middle of town, got into a hmv, with a horde on my tail killed half with a mounted mg while bieng mauled by the other. 11/10
Also quick tip, fast reflexes has more value per point thst just directly investing to dodge + you can train dodge on top which gives you even bigger change to not get hit Also torso and arm encumbrance reduces attack speed and all encumbrance reduces dodge (biggest ones being torso and eyes)
@@Pr1vateLime also i forgot to mention dexterity plays a role in dodge too for example dexterity penalty caused from pain lowers effective dodge while higher base dexterity increases it around 1 effective dodge per 1-2 levels. (u/ANoobInDisguise made a good table of effecive dodge percentages around 8 months ago if youre interested in some technical elements of it)
From someone with way to many hours, i recommend mmking a few nail broads. Easy to craft and a decent damage to zeds that move on it. Also hallucinations will not trigger it so it will help a bit when you need to speed hours crafting with hallucinations
Oh man, I've never been able to get very far in this mod, though watching this has reignited my interest in attempting to get a run that sticks. Can't wait to see how later episodes unfold!
nice vid as usual but I have some tips as someone whose wasted an inordinate amount of time in this game. I really wouldn't recommend running with Kaluptic, its legitimately one of the worst traits in terms of annoyance and its very rare for a hallucination to actually effect gameplay. Like for there to be a dangerous enemy in a place that makes sense (ie it fools you) and for that to meaningfully affect you decision making is incredibly rare so the trait is really just annoying. Also crouching around isn't necessarily a good idea in areas with enclosed spaces where enemies can round the corner on you. enemies can smell you from roughly the same area as they can hear your normal footsteps and your lower move cost from crouching will lead to scenarios where an enemy detects you and moves close to you around a corner. I'm not necessarily telling you how to play, just giving advice from playing too much of this dumb game
Kaluptic always seems like one of those 'content creator' traits, because it makes for funny interactions in the media, but by and large its not worth taking for any even remotely serious run.
5:40 You can put pressure on your wounds by passing time with nothing in your hands, which effectiveness is determined by the severity of bleeding and your hand encumbrance.
Eeeeeeeepppppppiiiiiiccccc! Thanks Lime for this video. I really been enjoying your content especially recently. I’m praying that you had a great Christmas and that you have a blessed new year! Can’t wait to watch you all throughout 2024
Ooh neat, I was curious to see more of this game. There's so much depth to it, I don't know if I could ever remember half the stuff it seems like you can do heh. Here's hoping Lime can survive a few days in the Backrooms!
"Shower Victim". Seeing as how he's holding soap, I'm guessing he slipped in the shower and instead of hitting the ground, he noclipped into the backrooms instead. Damn don't you hate it when that happens?
God this game, first couple of times playing/learning (50+ hours) I had a horse, I was traveling around with my horse, I love my horse, I try to cross a bridge, because i'm riding a horse I was not able to see that there were landmines on the road, I blow up, my horse is now just a bunch of bones and guts on the road, both my legs are fucked, i cant move, in great pain, explosion attracted robozombies, I get destroyed. 10/10 would blow up my horse again.
Played CDDA (For real and not just open it and then close it because it's too daunting) for the first time recently and really it's surprisingly easy to get your bearings controls and ui wise, felt really similar to my first experience with DF where it was really daunting to get into but surprisingly simple to play. If you wanna play and have been holding off just because of the controls dw about it. Take a look through the keybinds and help page and you'll be right on track
Wallpaper looking like someone smeared shit all over the place, incomprehensible architecture, eldrich abominations as your neighbours, and no escape. Sounds like housing estate in former soviet union country. Home.
Maybe try another character in the same world or try the Sky Islands mod, which changes up the game considerably You can also import previous characters into this world (as long as they weren't created in much older game versions)
it always surprises me how people play this game so well its controls are crazy at times bet this is going to be a fun watch.

Games like this and DF are fun, but if you're gonna play them it needs to be the only thing you do for the next several years if you want to "win"
coq isn't that complicated in terms of controls compared to cdda@@irkanorphyn

I only do it when the bloodloss is huge or it doesnt stop after a few active turns!
I love how the man struggles to break a chair on his own. Though the bar of soap lets him crumple it

Its SUPER fun, if you can get past the control scheme!
To see how easily the soup breaks a chair, I think it's the ultimate weapon.
Almost as powerful of a tool as the towel
I’m so excited for this!
Always a good day when Lime uploads CDDA :)
Lots of future good days then!

Fun vid, always nice to see someone messing with the Backrooms mod.
Its prolly one of the better backrooms experiences!! THe only thing missing is the mod to remove zeds and only keep the eldritch horror
Considering how in depth CDDA is it would be awesome if they added this as a real feature if you try to noclip through walls.
I would LOVE that
for some reason when i saw this video's title i just stayed staring at it like "Huh" for almost a solid minute
soap came in clutch
