Freakin' killer!! The thought, the engineering, the planning, the... you killed it. OUTRAGEOUS!!! (The Founder... but don't let Michael Keaton buy Driftwood!!)
This level of organisation is making me very envious and a bit ashamed of my own workshop. There is something satisfying about a well organised workshop. My only tip for you is to upgrade the CNC to an auto tool changer spindle, it is a massive efficiency boost.
Love the shop. It’s well thought out and the French cleats really adds a nice dynamic to everything. You’re no longer stuck with your decisions today for years down the road. What do y’all have in mind for communication between the shed shop and the garage shop. Y’all are so intuned to each other that the shed shop could become isolating. A voice activated mic and speaker intercom system may help keep the hood feels y’all have flowing when you’re working in separate buildings. ETA. Also good for when you need help right away in the case of an accident like gluing yourself to the bench.
My thoughts, exactly. Some kind of communication system, even a simple 4K wi-fi webcam style device may be helpful when the needs arise. Could also make for additional "B" roll!
wow. the shop looks amazing. I'm thinking I need to start using some french cleats now. Also... when you mentioned the yoga mat, great idea by the way, my weird head thought you meant a "yoga matt" for a second. I don't think I'd watch that video. lol. :)
Hi guys, the shop absolutely looks amazing. So good to see how you have implemented practical experience into your new setup. Only thing i wanted to ask you: did you think of installing a fire extinguisher and a first-aid-kit? I couldnt see it anywhere in the shop.
Been waiting a while to see this video. The new shop looks absolutely awesome. Can't wait for the future vids and all the greatness that will come from that workspace.
Great looking shop guys and very functional. I'm also a member of the Worshipful Society of French Cleats. And since you ask one thought I had was that for your cabinet under the center bench is to install one big ass drawer inside. That would make if vastly easier to access the bits inside. Particularly in the back.
With a nice new shop, neat and organized, you can make many of the jigs, fixtures, cool gizmos and small shop tools you can use and have a place to keep them for next time. Not everything needs to come from from StewMac. I knew Bill Mac and Stewart when I was working for Waverly several years ago. I got a nice discount on their products by being part of StewMac, but no long do. They encourged me to feel free to make or improve on anything I could to make my "luthiery" more enjoyable without breaking the budget. Never meet Mr. Erlewine, but he seems like he could concur.
Congrats Matt and Chris! The new layout looks great, I especially love your string holders. I am now incorporating a similar system in my assembly table center trough.
Great news, it looks nice. 👌 over the past few year's as I've seen you grow, you have stayed the same. I'm now doing my own thing so to speak. Helping people have their dream guitar.
Love the shop. To save your relationship and the I told you so’s. I have found the best method of storing and organizing tools with cords is a bag, tag, and rack system. Each tool has its own zip tool bag that also holds its accessories such as blades… tag the bag with luggage tags and your all set.
Great job !!! Quick thought though…. You guys should have the 1/4 cable to the Spark on a pulley like the air hose @ a gas station. Only with a stop feature. Also, maybe I missed it, but I counted 5 tubes for the strings ?!?
Shop looks great guys, my only suggestion is to get less pointy drawer pulls, I know I would regularly jab a knee or hip into those drawer pulls, but your experience may be different. Best of luck in the new old space.
I think I'm gonna French cleat everything in my house now. I love ho wit ties the shop together. Every French cleated thing can be moved to a spot that has French cleats.
Looks great guys! Can't wait to see all the new content from the shop. Also excited to see what you do with the acoustic shop later on. Keep hanging Chris, put that board to use!
It looks great! Obviously a lot of thought and sweat (i.e. attic work) went into this. I am very new to lutherie and about to improve my garage area. I have been waiting anxiously for this video. 😎😎
This is awesome guys, well worth the time and money it took! I can't wait to get my own place where I can get a whole garage properly kitted out, I am currently working on my guitars out of a very small bedroom in my house ....mind you it is a bit of an upgrade from where I started at the end of my bed in my room in an apartment in Sydney lol 😂
I am setting up shop again and am really torn on the French Cleats. I love modularity but the storage density seems really inefficient, I am used to a Ben Crowe type tool wall behind me where I can get 10x the tools in the same space. I am hoping that I come up with a hybrid system of tool wall plus work task centric caddies that I can mount on cleats and pull over to the bench as needed.
Great stuff guys! Did I hear correctly??? The amp build is back on!!! D:D:D:D:D:D. You guys did a great job of maximizing your space. I'm digging the new CNC space. Oh, and those self adjusting t-track clamps are the SHIZ.
Love the French clear system and going to give my one garage workshop a remodel soon and add them in. Not sure on the bandsaw blade holder. Looks funky but if I understand it right all the blades stack up together in there so you are going to have to remove them all to get to one blade in which case it looks a pain and you won’t change your blade. I Like the track system on centre table and going to do something similar to my main chunky workbench cos my old thinner topped router table has bowed over the years with the weight of the router and I’d like a way to hold down material for planing etc. No table saw?
Wow this is amazing. The shop looks incredible. Alex and I have been making annual trips up to see Kevin Hanley. One of these times i need to swing by to catch up and try out a driftwood guitar!
Where’s the dust collection pipe for the router table? I see the dust right under the router, but how does it get to your collector?? Again, awesome shop! Oh yeah… where’s the finishing booth? Can we get a tour of that at some point??? 😊
5 year wait list! Gentlemen, it’s time to make sawdust. Obviously RUclips is an important component of your business plan but I don’t see how you ever fulfill your acoustic build commitments, do RUclips vids and produce electric guitars at the same time. To my eye you are seriously over committed. But, having said that, beautiful job on the shop! I wish you two well and hopefully you’ll bring on another luthier or two to help whittle down that waitlist.
Awesome job!! I would highly recommend pre cutting wire lengths for wiring the Tidlecasters since you are doing batches and putting the in mason jars on the cleat system. You can also build a hanging folding wall on a track for the clean area if you feel the dust is too much (Put in windows if you feel Mat deserves to see out of the room ;) ) .
Here is a money saver tip concerning your fan in your paint booth. If the motor was located outside, you wouldn't have to have and expensive explosion proof motor. Why? Because you are moving an arcing and sparking device from and explosive environment. All you would need is achieve weather resistance.
Not sure if you follow comments this old…. But, how about a review of your new shop? How about a “What works, what doesn’t, and what will be changed?” From major things down to the smallest things. Smallets things, like does the little stereo ($80 on Amazon) you bought work weel in your shop?
Would you guys ever do amp repairs? I live pretty close to you, and as you may realize, there aren't a lot of people in this region who can do it. I see the show is great, and suspect you spend all energy and time on the show.
Hey love you guys shop looks good … the only thing that would worry me is having tools that you reach for over your almost finished guitar.. that would suck to drop something …. Later Mike !
around the 17:00 mark what are those yellow things that dangle off of the power plugs, that look like they plug in separately themselves? just curious. Awesome shop!
Guys!!! Huge kudos... the shop looks amazing. It is super clear this was a TON of work, but definitely worth it.
Great looking workshop, hopefully all this extra room for productivity means the 3010 year old guitar will get finished
Hey great job! You worked really hard. Now get back to the 3002 year old guitar videos! Love y’all
I will be implementing the french cleats in my shop! Thanks guys!

The best part of this journey is the relationship you two have.
And French Cleats…
Great job! The shop looks fantastic. I may be so inspired that I’ll take a shot at cleaning up my garage workbench area tomorrow.
Looks great. Super jealous and congratulations on the hard work and a great place.
Driftwood Dream Workshop!
Enjoy the space!
Love the shop. It’s well thought out and the French cleats really adds a nice dynamic to everything. You’re no longer stuck with your decisions today for years down the road.

LOVE that you have that flag hanging in the background, Chris!! Great job, Fellas!! FELLAS!!! Congratulations!! Woo Hoo!!!
wow. the shop looks amazing. I'm thinking I need to start using some french cleats now. Also... when you mentioned the yoga mat, great idea by the way, my weird head thought you meant a "yoga matt" for a second. I don't think I'd watch that video. lol. :)

Beautiful shop. Love the American Flag story. Best of luck to both. Looking forward to future videos in this space.

Nice job on the planning, I’m just used to bumping my elbows on the piece of equipment I’m not using...
Great news, it looks nice. 👌 over the past few year's as I've seen you grow, you have stayed the same. I'm now doing my own thing so to speak. Helping people have their dream guitar.
Wow, nice shop. Really surprised when you said you have a wife and son...didn't see that one coming.
Love the shop. To save your relationship and the I told you so’s. I have found the best method of storing and organizing tools with cords is a bag, tag, and rack system. Very cool setup Chris and Matt. God bless you guys.

thank you Matt and Chris . good stuff . i like the cubby for the routers and trolls to live in
I'm happy for you guys, you earned it.
Great job !!! Quick thought though…. You guys should have the 1/4 cable to the Spark on a pulley like the air hose @ a gas station. Only with a stop feature. Also, maybe I missed it, but I counted 5 tubes for the strings ?!?
Never mind about the strings, I just watched your other video. 😂
I love this… I wish there was a top down drawing of the space…
Great walk thru....very practical. And I have some ideas now for my setup. Great Job. And French cleats....Wow....Cheers.
Man that's fantastic! So many ideas! My guitar garage shop still has to hold garage things also.
Good stuff!
Good job lads, gives me lots of new ideas, cheers!
Shop looks great, congrats guys :)
this looks awesome, glad to see new videos of u guys!! greetings from germany!
I'll likely never be able to afford an instrument from you but I appreciate the content and knowledge.
Grats guys! Now get to work, I need a Tidalcaster in my life! 😃❤
You buying one?
@@DriftwoodGuitars The minute I scrape up enough cash, I'll be knocking on the door.
Absolutely love the new space. So hard to do this and halt production.
I’m decking out a 12x32 building now and gotta say this was inspiring
Good deal. Nice to have more organized space!
Stinkin awesome! Thanks for the tour. Gave me ideas for my own shop.
This is great. I’m building my shop now and grabbing some inspiration from your config.
You Guys are awesome team ,keep on keeping on . Congratulations on the new shop .
Guys - Absolutely fantastic. I'd love to have your workshop for myself.. Well done
Shop looks great guys, my only suggestion is to get less pointy drawer pulls, I know I would regularly jab a knee or hip into those drawer pulls, but your experience may be different. Best of luck in the new old space.
Matt on the bench: This will always be clean......REALLY? 🤪
looks nice guys love the CNC extra monitore and keyboard tray thing, well done! Also, love the Mythbuster bobble heads
I think I'm gonna French cleat everything in my house now. I love ho wit ties the shop together. Every French cleated thing can be moved to a spot that has French cleats.
Awesome!!!! Hope to get this shop level one day!!!!
Looks great guys! Can't wait to see all the new content from the shop. Also excited to see what you do with the acoustic shop later on. Keep hanging Chris, put that board to use!
woah, french cleats. This cabinet maker has learned something new. I work on bicycles more than anything, but a workshop is a workshop eh
I am impatiently waiting patiently for that vid.
Every house needs a junk drawer. I’m with The Bearded One on this.
Great workshop, venry nice and neat place to work happily and efficiently Kudos !
Very well done!
Measure twic, cut onc. amazing labeling on the locker haha. can't wait for more videos!
That flag is a really cool piece of history.
Looks amazing! I'm so happy for you guys!

great work! Gorgeous shop now. 👍🏻
Very nice. Love the bench jack!
Yay more room! Now you can train a 3rd guy like myself lmfao super nice shop!
Looks great!
Is that a hangboard above the door? Climb on!
This is awesome guys, well worth the time and money it took!

Yes yes yes!
Great reno guys- What would keep me up at night was you only have 5 string tubes for 6 string guitars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahah
You're kidding... right?
@@rickbaker4571 Yes. - hence the hahahha
I noticed the 5 string tubes, figured the two smallest gauges might be in one tube. Or they are setting all those tele's up for Keith Richards.
@@jonahguitarguy hahah- maybe. I buy the same bulk strings and the thinner string can certainly be doubled up :)

Everything looks great! Good job guys. Question: what do you think about French cleats?
New shop is really awesome - I secretly envy you this space :) Maybe the island should have rounded corners - what do you think?
Very nice! Did you say, “I told you so,” yet?
Great shop guys. Jealous. And yes, yoga mats are great. They are inexpensive and easily accessible to buy.
Very cool!!! ????? On your string storage, I noticed there’s only 5 tubes? How come?
I'm jealous!

My barn shop is 40x48 it is full of shelves and cabinets with no doors. I still lose things though.
Would you guys ever do amp repairs? I live pretty close to you, and as you may realize, there aren't a lot of people in this region who can do it. I see the show is great, and suspect you spend all energy and time on the show.
You should build your electrics like your acoustic guitars and put it all on one wait list.
When you going to finish the 3 year guitar man
Looking awesome (I’m super jealous!)
Did Chris run around and wipe glue on the underside of each bench to break em in? 🤣
Hey guys, it’s never “damage” it’s always “relicing” and you charge more for guitars with it.
You've probably already heard this, but..... you should build an enclosure for the cnc.?.?
THE FOUNDR is the movie you're thinking and speaking about.
I had to scroll wayyyyy too far to find somebody who actually answered this question.
Hey love you guys shop looks good … the only thing that would worry me is having tools that you reach for over your almost finished guitar.. that would suck to drop something …. Later Mike !

French Cleat Camera Mounts!!!!! May Help Out
Looks stellar guys!! But…what’s in the locker?! 😂
Just PPE and Aprons really
I am a guitar repairman and was wondering what type of yoga mat you are using, want to ge one that wont hurt the guitar finish.
