  • We are passionate about beekeeping and really enjoy helping beekeepers through our RUclips channel.
On our channel you can find information on making splits with swarm cells, making increase with queen cells, grafting larvae, foulbrood and disease inspection, honey extraction and machinery, top tips for beginners, products reviews, instructions and guidance plus much more.
#NONONSENSEBEEKEEPING is a UK based beekeeping channel, designed to keep beekeeping as simple and enjoyable as possible. There are no overly complicated techniques or intricate pieces of equipment.
We cover all beekeeping topics ranging from queen rearing, disease recognition/control, honey extraction, swarm management/collection, how to make splits and much more!
My personal favourite aspects of beekeeping are selecting queens for rearing, rearing queens for mating, making up nucs for overwintering and collecting swarms.
We aim to bridge the gap between commercial and hobbyist beekeepers and cater for beekeepers of all experience levels.

When was this video taken, I just watched a video from you where you said it’s too late in the season there to have a virgin queen.

Laurence, as always, wonderful, real video. We're 5 seasons into our beekeeping journey and the ladies continue to 'surprise' us at every turn. A couple weeks ago as we were preparing to treat our 5 hives my wife discovered SIX capped queen cells in one box! Isn't it late in the season for the bees to swarm? We went ahead and did a split, using resources from a VERY aggressive hive. This aggressive hive was 5 boxes BURSTING with bees and no sign of swarming! We took 2 of their boxes and used the frame of capped queen cells to make the split. The really ironic thing is that the aggressive hive almost immediately calmed down. Thanks again Laurence as we have learned a lot from you!

Did this myself this year. I got 3 queens accepted and mated.

What about mating? isn't it too late already? I gave a frame with eggs to a queenless hive on august 25th after failing to intruduce a mated queen (they killed her) My plan is to check that hive at the end of september to find eggs

Uploaded six hours ago just watched the previous video about not opening beehives in September. Needless to say I’m very confused.

    Of course beekeeping is easy.
I have been doing it for 15 years and still don't know what I am doing🙂

If you ever reach the end, you've been doing it wrong :)

😂. I’m in my first year and depending on whether I can keep them alive through the winter, I’ll then decide whether to carry on. There is so much to learn and it’s time consuming, not so much actual time spent on the hive but the hours I spend deliberating on what to do next, I actually go to bed thinking about it lol 😂

That is great news! I've been beekeeping for 5 years and am still learning. So you're saying there's hope. 😁 I waited on a customer at work today who is 87 years old. He mentioned beekeeping and of course we talked for awhile about our 'experience.' However he's got us all beat! He said he had been keeping bees since he was 50, quick math shows that's about 27 years, and he is still 'trying to figure it out.'
