Good presentation on the theory (point of view). However, it lacks substantial evidence. Most of his "evidence" is anecdotal (story-telling) and arbitrary. Other ways of looking at these anecdotes are expressed. For example, are we talking about inequality of outcome, or inequality of opportunity? These are important distinctions. Does this series cover these?
I belive this video more toward giving an idea about Social Reproduction. The Idea from the topic been present in a story telling mode which connect the dots and easier to be understand by the people new into this topic. Maybe you can share your idea about the topic with substantial evidence will helpful too :-)
Strength... the money comment is on point... you need money to make money... weakness.... knowing more about mozart will get you about as far in life as knowing about graffiti. It's very far fetched when it comes to the educational system.
1. it is a nice presentation, let me ask you one question. How does folklore reproduces folk groups? 2. Which folk group dominates in the performance and transmission of folklore in culture? Why?
There are countless studies that suggest the majority of the millionaires (net-worth of a million) in the country have been brought up from families of lower income. Millionaire-Next Door explains this phenomenon and explains the different studies on this in regards to a wide range of ethnic groups. Why is it that Rich-Dad-Poor-Dad is so popular.
But upper-class culture (Mozart, Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, etc.) is objectively better than lower-class culture. I very much disagree with this video. Also, upper-class culture--high culture, so to speak--is accessible to everyone if they make the effort to go after it, learn and grow as an individual.
+PkrBarMovie Why to compare, why we have to choose between the upper and lower cultures, why we can't celebrate and accept both cultures, and choose the outlet that fit us most, this is completely an individual choice. However, when it comes to education, it is not personal anymore, showcasing everyone's culture is mandatory or else you are subjugating some from being a part of the entire society. I enjoy Michel Angelo Sistine Chapel painting and Andy Warhol pop art, it is simple as that!!
This was sooo helpful! Thank you!

Cat Santos - I've seen good and bad graffiti. I like it when it's good. I also love classical music and paintings. Variety is the spice of life.

"Objectively better" No.
+sueannwashere I'm not surprised that you disagree. Extremely stupid people have trouble understanding such things.
