Well done getting into Swedish :) I'm also learning Swedish (and German!) There are a few obvious cognates like suchen-söka, besuchen-besöka, versuchen-försöka, Abfall-avfall, Abschnitt-avsnitt, Abstand-avstand, Verschlag-förslag, Verlag-förlag. I can go on and on 😅 If you do wish to continue with Swedish, I would recommend Simple Swedish Podcasts 🇸🇪
Ciao Laura!
Bra jobbat Laura! (Gran feina!) El teu suec és molt bó! 🙂 Seriously, you cracked the code. Knowing German makes it a lot easier to understand and speak Swedish.
Tack so mycket 😄. It is great to understand so much even being a super beginner, and I love how Swedish sounds. It is so different and so similar at the same time 😁
As a Swedish native, this put a big smile on my face :) You are really kicking ass! Not sure how i ended up on this channel, haha. But it was a great watch! I honestly wish you the best of luck in your learning experience! I see that you are learning a multitude of languages and I find that really inspiring and I really wish I had the time (though more "the energy") to do the same. Question though, do you consider duolingo is actually a good way to learn languages? And as someone had commented below, knowing English and German helps when trying to understand Swedish :) It definitely helped me when I studied German as a third language in school ;)
I use the same youtubers to learn swedish, also fem prd per dag...i totally understand you, I learn pasively this language... I recommend drops... And the sad part is that I still Can't make sentences... I am studying french now

@@CouchPolyglot Oh thank you very much don't worry I see that... Estas practicando español que tal con eso? Hablas algun idioma fluido aparte de tu nativo?
@@Djsore22 Ingen jobbar gratis - just kidding. These are very specific (technical) sentences that I doubt any ordinary native speaker would dare to translate properly (I don't at least). You need to turn to someone specializing in technical translations. Otherwise, if you just want to know what the sentences mean approximately even Google translate will do the job.
What a great notification to see after being away for a few days!
Glad you liked it, tack so mycket, I can understand bits and pieces of your message in Svenska, that feels good! Actually I had a book some years ago which compared the different Germanic languages and I loved it! Comparing different languages does really fascinate me, and I would love to have time for each and every single one of them 😄
Well that's fine. I'm learning swedish also and that's not so easy, even with my fluent english and german. Your examples are straight forward, similarities help a lot, but only in reading. When it comes to understanding spoken swedish, I'm still confused, even with slow swedish. I need time, maybe because I'm getting old? But don't think my brain does not work so good : I recently came across videos in italian and I realized I can understand everything, even if I've had no opportunity to hear italian for 30 years !
Thanks a lot! Swedish does take time, I feel like the brain needs a while to get used to it. So it is not you :) Btw. I continued to learn Swedish at some point, and that is my level now: ruclips.net/video/dpQM7Y45EjM/видео.html In this video I talk to a wonderful Swedish teacher :D
@@CouchPolyglot Anastasia is my favorite teacher from the beginning. But recently I added other ones who have their own accent and approach to teaching. My progress is slow and I could not have a conversation like you have. You are a rapid learner, never seen someone like you !
Most really close pairs like använda/anwenden or förbereda/vorbereiten are actually borrowings from German. Tid/Zeit, on the other hand, is a real cognate. Anyway, great job! :)
thanks Professor X 😊 I would not say I speak Swedish, I only know the very basics. Those are the languages I speak: ruclips.net/video/XIFcFFI88i4/видео.html :)
This is brilliant lovely Laura! First you get a good idea of the language by finding commonanilites with a language you know well. Then you build on that foundation 👍 (By the way, I wouldn’t have guessed that you were a fan of detective novels 🤔)
Yeah, that can help with Catalan too. For instance, a lot of words ending in "-ció" are very similar to English ("acció", "educació"...). The same happens with a lot of verbs ("decidir", "explorar", "informar"...) and other words ("interesting" - "interessant"...) 😊 About the book: I actually read it in Highschool, I do not even remember what it was about 😅
