Vancouver 1989. Walking to my seat while Living Colour ripped through "Should I Stay Or Should I Go." Front seat, end of left runway, great band to ensure a good show. Vernon Reid is so versatile. B.S. about no soundcheck, balanced in a 50,000 seat place is tricky. Defunct onward.

Yes, the Stones typically used several support acts for their North American tours between 1972-1981. But, aside from the addition of Guns 'N Roses for the 4 Los Angeles dates, Living Colour was the sole support for the 'Stones entire 1989 North American Steel Wheels stadium tour.

I saw Living Color and the Stones at Clemson. We got there late, and security was really tight, so I missed almost the entire LC show. The Stones were great.

A very telling point: when asked what was the worst thing about being the opener. No one cares how your band plays, no sound checks, etc. Rush, par exemple, went through the same shit when opening for Aerosmith. It was such a negative experience that, years later, when touring with one of Joe Perry's side bands, Geddy Lee went way out of his way to make sure that Perry and his band had everything they needed/wanted to ensure that Perry put on a good show. Lee said that Aerosmith treated Rush so poorly that they vowed Rush would never treat their showmates that way.

Queen reportedly gave Bob Seger the same treatment when they toured together in the 70s. Seger had a very strict time limit for his set (around 40 minutes or so) and wasn't even allowed an encore; in Michigan, that was almost felonious.

Not a Stones fan. How anticlimactic the RS would seem after these guys.
