  • Fashion historian Raissa Bretaña fact checks the historical accuracy of the costumes worn by Riley Keough in the Fleetwood Mac-inspired series, "Daisy Jones & The Six." Raissa analyzes Daisy's casual bell-bottom outfits as well as her concert looks that pay homage to the Stevie Nicks, breaking them down, layer-by-layer.

The fashion was beautiful but didn't feel authentically 1970s to me. More like modern takes on the 70s you could purchase at Urban Outfitters or Free People. Daisy's final concert outfit is definitely my favorite and it's wonderful to learn it was vintage!

I also felt like some of the pieces in the earlier episodes were almost too nice for people who are up and coming and didn't have much money. Clothing was MUCH more expensive before the rise of fast fashion. It all felt a little too formal and done-up.

actually, daisy barely wears anything in the book. actually, her and the other members for the aurora album photoshoot in the book didn't even wear extravagant clothes, despite the event they're shooting for because they wanted it to be realistic and simple. so billy wearing his typical denim look for the photoshoot is not out of the blue.

The late 70s was actually the birth of Athleisure looks! the 80s Spandex leotards and leg warmers actually debuted in the late 70s! Fun Fact! Health and Fitness were a huge craze in the late 1970! Punk Rock debuted in the mid 70s as a reaction against mainstream fashion! Fetish wear was worn by them, like corsets!

Yea I remember the 70’s revival in the 90’s and 2000’s. It’s crazy that the 2020’s is seeing a revival of the 90’s which was already a revival of the 70’s which was a revival of the 30’s.

Musicians were NOT the fashion trendsetters at all in the 1970’s. Because we never saw musicians. There was no mtv or music videos. The only fashion we saw was on tv (like Cher’s or Donnie and Marie show) or in magazines or in movies. We didn’t visually see Stevie Nick’s style until the early 1980’s, with the advent of MTV

Musicians still played on live television sets. You also had concert images printed in magazines. Yes there was no MTV but there was still access to some visual reference.

The series is not based on Fleetwood Mac.
Fans thought that to be true.
But if you research Steve Nicks has a different story to stardom.

the author herself said it was inspired by Fleetwood's silver springs performance. The inspo isn't about Stevie nicks specifically, and more about the band in general
