I listened to the audiobook of 'she who became the sun' and i enjoyed it (4/5 stars). I think when it's read to you with voice actors I didn't mind all the historical details. Also I liked the fine-line of magic & metaphor, made me focus more on the period the story took place but i also had no expectations from this book. I think it's amazing how you can read so much & thank you for doing this challenge!
A History of Wild Places kind of reminded me of Once There Were Wolves. Small town in Scotland with a main character who has a special ability. It was very well written and short! I highly recommend! I wonder Divine Rivals is reminiscent of Wonder Woman (the movie)... The real WWI was taken place with the war between gods also happening in the background.
I haven't read Shield Maiden but Beowulf is not part of Celtic mythology. It's an Old English poem set in Geatland (part of now Sweden) featuring Geats/Goths not Celts.
I’ve never heard of Beowulf being referred to as Celtic. It was an old English poem but it was written about a Scandinavian Hero. Does the prelude talk about the authors choice to change the heritage? Shame you had an only average reading month. Hope you compensate with a load of 5 ⭐️ in December

Ooo I loved Divine Rivals but I can see your points about it not always flowing well!
I read Kingdom of the Cursed and was disappointed, the plot line about the sister felt like it was just forgotten about 😅
Lil Hammi at the end 🤌🤌🤌🤌
