My daughter is a serving officer and on her first active duty i saw her off to the station with 'lets be careful out there'.. both emotional but so proud.. RIP Michael Conrad
I snagged a show at a top 40 station in Trenton NJ in 1981. 50 thousand watts of FM radio hits. The tag line was, The Jersey Giant! I worked it until I manged to get on board at 94WYSP. One of my favorite records to play was Mike Post's theme from Hill Street Blues. It was one of his many TV music masterpieces. I became a fan of the show, nearly as much as I liked MASH. So many wonderful memories, especially Michael Conrad. I still use that line. I would give almost anything to back to that time.
I go thru a Hill Street vortex at least once a year where I binge it on Hulu. I am in the middle on one now which brought me here. Thanks so much for sharing.
I just watched the first two episodes on Hulu last night. Steven Bauer of Scarface fame was a cop in the second episode ever. He was baby faced. And an Irish gangster from the Shamrocks was a young David Caruso who went on to NYPD Blue fame 12 years later.
Too bad Dennis Franz wasn’t there, but his career was on fire that year with NYPD Blue. I suppose this was more of a tribute to the core cast members; the ones who were there from the very beginning.
@@johnholliday5874 He did. He played a corrupt cop in season 3 and he landed a regular role playing Norman Buntz in the last two seasons. Both were memorable roles so I feel he should’ve been up there with the rest of the cast.

Shame Daniel J. Travanti didn't attend...shame Rene Enriquez and Kiel Martin couldn't because they both passed away in 1990...and tragic Michael Conrad passed while the show was in its fourth season.
Unfortunately this show aired just for maybe 15-20 episodes over here in Germany, from series one. It didn't take off here in the eighties too american, too shocking for Europe, too realistic about daily life in big American cities. Dallas or Falcon Crest, later, suited much more the believe and the expectation about America and Amercans in European eyes. HSB was too shocking, to brutal and realistic. I sticked to the show as long as it aired, surping up every single story untill it disappeard and was replaced on the slot with Denver Clan (Dynasty) Seeing this reunion at the awards makes me sigh😢😢😢 Brilliant show, not understood over here....
They don't make television shows like this anymore. The best show ever.

Best show ever!!!
As a police officer of 29 years service I still think “Let’s be careful out there” is one of the best briefings you can ever give a serving cop.
