    So glad there's a on site BTS video like this! Helps out so much and understanding the process. You did great in explaining everything. it feels like I'm there and getting all my questions answered. I'm new to flambient so this helps tremendously. Now just time to go out and do it consistently haha

    @Definitive HDR Photography Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your advice, I'll try it out soon.
    I have some other questions too; how do focus your camera for REP - Do you use AF or MF? I read somewhere that you have to use MF for bracketed shots, is that true?
    Also, I see you're zooming in on the flip screen, does that mean you're using MF, and looking for sharpness?
    You're channel has been a huge help, thanks for taking the time to make these videos.

      Hey my friend, so I don't rely on automatic anything when it comes to the camera.
      There have been times where the camera tells me everything is in focus and when I get back to the computer, the image is slightly out of focus.
      To avoid this, I first use AF to get me close, then I switch to MF, zoom in on the screen or EVF and manually focus to get me even closer to being tack sharp.
      I do this for every scene at the very beginning of setting up the shot, whether it's for HDR or flash/ambient.

    Awesome video - as always!!!! Keep creating content like you have been, and this channel will grow very fast!!!! Thanks brother. When you get a chance and if make sense, can you please create a short video explaining the flash and camera setting (shutter speed). I do flambient but would like to understand better how to setup correctly (be more consistent with every shot) the exposure of my sony camera when using the flash. the bracketing portion is clear to me.

      Also, it would be nice if you can make a short video explaining how the CamRanger works with the Sony A7iii. The Imaging Edge App with the Sony A7iii is not good. Thanks 👍

      I'm working on putting together a "Basics" video that will go over what makes a final image first, like the types of layers and images we'll need, then it will cover all the components of what it took to create the image like camera settings, gear, where to place your flash pops, etc. I just can't put too many long videos back to back on the channel. I need to insert shorter videos as well so people will come to the channel. Not many people have 15 minutes to an hour to watch something so I think the short 2 minute videos help in between. I am working on the details for this video though so hopefully I can release something soon in that regard

      I can definitely do this as well. I'm thinking showing the pros & cons as well as the similarities and differences between the two systems.
      I'm making a list of all the videos I want to create and these 2 are at the top of my list for sure.

    Thanks this is extremely helpful as usual :). I'm a Canon User (eos rp) and also bought a godox Canon tigger for a godox flash (same as you but for your sony); how do you set your white balance. I tried copying you in the video but I just got confused...

      Hey what's going on my friend! So I've never used a Canon before but with my Sony I am able to go into a custom WB and adjust temperature and tint from within the camera.
      Typically if the image is too orange, I'll just adjust the temp to be more blue and vice versa.
      Check inside your camera and see if there is a custom WB mode that allows you to adjust WB on location and let me know if it doesn't. Maybe we can figure out a work around if there isn't.
      Also check out my only YT Short that I have at the moment. That will visually show you what I'm referring to above.
      Always happy to help, let me know if you have any more questions!

    Great video ! Very helpfull. I hope we will see your full editing process of this shoot :D
    I have a question: What do you consider to be the max ISO for real estate photography, when using a flash? (i currently own an AD200, i would love to get some more power out of it and use ISO 640 or higher but I'm not sure if it's wise)

    • @BrandonWattsREP
      @BrandonWattsREP  2 года назад

      I've gone up to 800 on my ISO before due to forgetting to charge my flash battery. I needed to flash my 600W at lower exposure values or else it would've died, hence raising it to 800 on the iso.
      Only real difference is the grain and detail quality you get from a lower iso compared to a higher iso.
      To answer your question though, anything above 800 is pushing it depending on the camera and how well it handles iso grain.
      200W is enough for standard houses. 600W is better for all houses as well as when using a circular polarizing filter which cuts down the amount of available light. For years I used 2 yongnuo speedlights in my hands so I know a 200W will work if bounced correctly.
      Also remember that the higher your iso, the worse your window and highlight detail will be. There are tradeoffs to everything unfortunately, though nothing is impossible.

    This is an awesome video! Finally someone doing a proper flambient on location BTS 😄
    Is your flash in manual mode or TTL mode? Would love to see a video specifically on your flash settings and when you use them.
    Also, what's your trigger set up and are you using a single pin adapter to correct white balance issues as Nathan Cool mentions?
    Thank you dude, keep the videos coming. I can see your channel is about to get big! 🚀

    • @BrandonWattsREP
      @BrandonWattsREP  2 года назад +1

      Hey my friend, I use my flash in manual mode. It makes things so much easier on location as well as when editing to adjust your flash manually.
      If not, your flash will adjust brightness values on it's own for every individual shot and that's not what we want.
      Consistency between the two side to side flash pops is better and you get that the easiest by shooting your flash in manual mode.
      My flash trigger is a Godox Sony Flash trigger which has the issue of being too orange when shot in Flash WB mode through the A7Siii. To counteract the orange WB I just offset my custom WB to something bluer when shooting my flash pops.
      This is quick and easy to do when on location and helps immensely when editing in LR and PS. This, compared to Nathan Cool, is a free adjustment compared to going out and buying a new flash trigger.

    I have the Benro head too, it's pretty useless in portrait mode or is there a way? It goes in portrait mode fine, but there's no way to adjust the tilt of the camera to fine tune it 'up and down'. How do you find it?
    (edit) - I just seen it is not a benro geared head... it looks like a ball socket?

    • @BrandonWattsREP

      It's a Benro ball head I believe. I'll have to double check but I'm almost certain it's a Benro. Ball head for sure though.

      Sure is. Ad600bm to be exact. Totally worth it but not 100% necessary. I started with 2 Yuongnuo speedlights for 4 years before switching to the 600

      @@BrandonWattsREP This is the real Thor's hammer lol. After carrying it around for an hour, you feel it. We have a similar style, but I like some of things you're dong. Thx for sharing.

    • @BrandonWattsREP
      @BrandonWattsREP  2 года назад +1

      Yea the 600 is no joke but definitely worth it. I tend to just set it down after each shot though I can still feel it in my back after shooting multiple houses in a day.
      My biggest purpose for it is in its ability to increase the quality of the image. More flash power means less iso, which is a good thing to me. Also helps when you combine a CPL filter as those kill off a ton of light, so the increased power really shines here.
