Why don't you give the Ossetian side a voice? Read this, guys: The concept of foreign agent laws was first formalized in the United States with the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) of 1938. This U.S. law requires individuals and entities acting on behalf of foreign governments, organizations, or individuals in a political or quasi-political capacity to disclose their relationships and activities. FARA was initially enacted to combat foreign propaganda, especially from Nazi Germany, by promoting transparency around foreign influence on U.S. policies. Over time, similar laws have been adopted by other countries, often aiming to limit foreign influence on domestic politics. In some cases, such laws have been expanded or modified to regulate non-governmental organizations (NGOs), media, and other entities believed to be influenced by foreign funding or interests. In the 2008 Russo-Georgian War, Georgian forces launched an assault on South Ossetia's capital, Tskhinvali, on the night of August 7-8. This attack was part of an attempt by the Georgian government to reassert control over the region, which had declared independence from Georgia in the early 1990s. South Ossetia and Abkhazia were both breakaway regions with longstanding tensions with the Georgian government. Russia, which supported South Ossetian separatists and had peacekeeping troops in the region, responded quickly to the Georgian offensive. Within hours, Russia sent troops and launched a large-scale military intervention into South Ossetia and other parts of Georgia, leading to a five-day conflict. Russia justified its actions as a defense of its citizens and peacekeepers in South Ossetia, but Georgia argued that it was acting to restore constitutional order within its own borders. For those who believe everything they hear accompanied by beautiful music and drone shots - Stalin was, in fact, Georgian by nationality. During the Soviet Union, Georgia held a "special" privileged status among the other republics (as did Ukraine, by the way). Enormous resources were invested in Abkhazia, daily trains ran to Kutaisi, and Tskhaltubo was the primary destination for the Union's elite to rest and receive treatment. So, to claim that life in Georgia was tough under the Soviet Union is simply untrue. Even today, it's objectively clear that Georgia relies on Russia for economic support, with exports to Russia and a significant portion of the country’s income coming from tourism. I’m not denying that Georgia lost 25% of its territory after the events of 2008 - that’s a fact. But there’s no need to exaggerate things either.

None word about Ossetian people, yeah great job man👍🏻 If you really trying to be impartial like a normal journalist should be, visit other side of this borders and listen what georgian people did in 1991 with this people. All the situations that have been after that until 2008. How they tried to genocide them because they didnt want to live with georgia and wanted to separate from them in 1991. And after that georgia tried to push them from their home by military force. Killed childern and olders. This young generation that you showed in this video acting like this situation didnt exist but as a representative of Ossetian nation, my granfather born in South Ossetia, i can say that none of these people whant to live in Georgia, live with this people and wait for another act of violence. Buy the way we lived in this land much earlier than Georgians. And one more thing about this law of foreign agents, just to be fair, i cant imagine that USA will let in their land disseminate information through journalists who would be openly sponsored by Russia or China. You already have a similar law. And thats not a “democrasy” and freedom that you are talking about. Thats double-faced. Russia is not perfect place and i also dont support putin in many things but dont fool yourself and other people
He seems to be a Western propagandist. So your people do not like to be with Russia either? I would imagine that Russia is the lesser evil? Please elaborate.
The territory of South Ossetia was part of Georgian kingdoms throughout antiquity and middle ages. Ossetian migration to the region began in the 13th and 14th centuries, in which historical document have you read that south ossetians were on Georgian land before Georgians?
Very interestingly told, but the author forgot to tell how it all began. First, Georgia began to shell the territory of Abkhazia, calling them separatists and capturing Sukhumi. First, Georgia killed Russian soldiers who were evacuating civilians. First, Georgia killed Russian soldiers who were in Georgia under the treaty. And THIS was investigated by the UN. Read the documents, gentlemen.

I am from Republic of Moldova and a similar think is happening with Republic of Moldova, we also have a teritorry occuipied by Russian Army and most of the politicians wants Moldova to b an allie to Russia, people are paid to vote for pro-Russian when are election for a new pressident, a lot of disinformation in the small communities, Russia still want to have control over Moldova so we can't join EU or NATO. Moldova and Georgia shares a similiar story, an ex Soviet Unuion country that are on the edge to be swallowed by the Russia, or are in a way they are controlled by the Russia. Love from Moldova to all Georgians!
I remember when it happened. I was in Beijing, China, for the Summer Olympics. This war went against "the peace" that always should appear during an Olympiad.
@@AddieHilton Yes, of course ♥️. Suddenly, Russia has 50,000 soldiers with tanks, artillery, and aircraft on the only road connecting to Georgia. A week before, they evacuated their civilians and began firing at Georgian villages. The day Georgia responded, these 50,000 soldiers immediately started advancing, bombing the entire Georgian territory from the sea, from another occupied region, Abkhazia, and from the air. They killed many civilians simply because they were Georgian, and thousands of Georgians were forcibly displaced from their homes. Of course, Georgia “attacked” Russia on their so-called territory, which only Syria, North Korea, and a few “peace-loving” organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah recognize as independent. Do you know how long it takes to gather 50,000 soldiers at the border? No. Russia started preparations two months before their attack. Perhaps the “wise” Putin knew that after two months, small Georgia would decide to attack a global nuclear power 🙏. It’s literally free to learn some basic historical facts about the subject before commenting.
@@teimurazshvelidze-ff4sc There is such a thing as intelligence. Of course the Russians knew something was brewing. But the fact remains that the Georgians were the first to attack, and if it had not been for that attack, nothing would have happened. And yes: Russia did not enter Georgian territory. Abkhazia and Ossetia are not Georgia and have never been Georgia for the past millennium. And Georgians do not live there.
@@teimurazshvelidze-ff4sc The Georgians had been concertrating their forces and shelling South Ossetia for weeks killing dozens of civilians, so of course the Russians were on high alert. After the Georgians invaded South Ossetia they killed hundreds of civilians are drove tens-of-thousands out of their homes. Georgia brought whatever happened to them on themselves. And they haven't tried anything since - so it worked.
As someone who lives in Georgia, USA. I'll never forget the day I as a 9 year old saw on the news "Russia invades Georgia." I immediately hid with my sisters in the basement expecting the worst lol.
I find it amazing that someone who pretends to be objective and compassionate can make a video like this without ever mentioning the plight of South Ossetians, the oppression of Saakashvili that caused the Russian intervention in 2008, as well as the whole long history of the ethnic conflict between Georgians and Ossetians that has lasted for over 100 years. Unfortunately, without this perspective, this video is just another among many CIA propaganda pieces.
NATO is not a defensive alliance. They illegally bombed Yugoslavia (direct violation of the UN Charter). We must never forget what they did to Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Syria etc.
How the hell did Johnny forget to mention that the territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia HAVE NEVER BEEN UNDER GEORGIAN CONTROL SINCE THE SOVIET UNION FELL?! He literally left that out entirely and made it seem like Russia just took the land for no reason when those lands had already been lost to ethnic separatists (namely - Abkhazians and Ossetians), in fact the 2008 war started when Georgia decided to take that land back and Russia responded by supporting the separatists! I'm not defending Russia here, I'm just shocked at how bad this journalism is, that's basically a lie by omission
The "occupied" areas are called Abkhazi and South Ossetia .During the 5 day war NATO trained Georgian troops attacked the separatists regions killing locals and all the Russian peacekeepers before fleeing back towards Tbilisi. Shakashvilli almost choked hearing of the failed mission and the advancing militia .

Very one-sided report. Give us the whole picture. Which country implemented the foreign agents law first? The USA. Why don't you mention who started the aggression in 2008 first? Why don't you give the Ossetian side a voice?
Read this, guys:
The concept of foreign agent laws was first formalized in the United States with the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) of 1938. This U.S. law requires individuals and entities acting on behalf of foreign governments, organizations, or individuals in a political or quasi-political capacity to disclose their relationships and activities.
The war ended with a ceasefire on August 12, 2008. Following the conflict, Russia formally recognized South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states, though only a few countries have followed suit, and the majority of the international community still considers both regions part of Georgia.
Though, please verify this yourself by looking on the internet or talking to Ossetians. This report makes it seem like there was a war between Russia and Georgia, excluding Ossetians entirely, as if they are unworthy of having a say in this matter at all. Give the word to the Ossetians.
Ask them: do they want Georgians to rule over them?

20 September 1990 - South Ossetia declares independence. The republic remained unrecognized, yet it detached itself from Georgia de facto. In the last years of the Soviet Union, ethnic tensions between Ossetians and Georgians in Georgia's former Autonomous Oblast of South Ossetia (abolished in 1990) and between Ossetians and the Ingush in North Ossetia evolved into violent clashes that left several hundred dead and wounded and created a large tide of refugees on both sides.

I wish someone would do something about Russian expansionism. They are not satisfied with just acquiring vast tracts of land.
Only in this case Georgia attacked Russia. First, Georgia sent troops into South Ossetia, destroying cities like Tskhinvali, and then attacked Russian peacekeepers who were maintaining peace in the region at Georgia's invitation. As you probably know, this is the unleashing of a war, for which Georgia and the countries that incited it are responsible. Take, for example, the confession of George Bush Jr., who told Vovan and Lexus that Saakashvili (the President of Georgia who unleashed the war against Russia and is now in a Georgian prison) was a puppet ruler installed by Western countries after a coup d'etat.

Because Georgia invaded South Ossetia.

Yes, of course ♥️.

Great video keep doing this amazing journalism 🙌
NATO is not a defensive alliance. They illegally bombed Yugoslavia (direct violation of the UN Charter). We must never forget what they did to Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Syria etc.
But russia has a right to "defend" itself by bombing other countries
