    Hi everyone! I'm Darren, a first year medical student studying at Monash University in Australia. Now that the UCAT's done and dusted, I've seen a lot of advertisements about the interviews, and many people are thinking about how to excel in them. Here is how I prepared, and my thoughts on a lot of those paid interview courses. Enjoy!

    Hey Darren,
    1. Why'd you only apply to Monash?
    2. Which med prep company where you under for the interviews? If u dm answering

      Hey Samuel! I only applied to Monash med (and not other undergrad med places) because I didn’t want to move interstate. As with med prep companies, I participated in the medentry info session and one of their mock days.

      @@DarrenTan21 You didn't apply to Melb tho? Were you really confident in being accepted by Monash?

      I did apply for Melb biomed/science, but that’s not an undergrad med degree. I knew I had a good chance of making it into med at Monash

    Hello, I had a question, how many questions are asked per scenario in a single station. So if I am a station 1 and they present 1 scenario do I get 8 mins to answer 1 questions or 8 mins to answer multiple questions

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  Год назад

      Hey Kamksho, so for Monash it’s five questions per station, and the whole station (all five questions) has an overall eight minute timer.

    Hey Darren! So when you say borderline UCAT score, what exact score dym? cuz im really not sure if i made the cut.

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  Год назад +1

      Hi Gauri! Sounds like you’re borderline then. There’s no exact score especially because there’s still the ATAR to go

    I asked about ATAR they said 90 ATAR is minimum would 93 , 95 ATAR be enough for entry ?

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  3 года назад

      If atar is the only requirement then 93 or 95 would have an extremely good chance of entering

    quick question. As you probably know, I'm averaging really low in English ardour the D/C range. Chem/Methods around 85-90. Spesh and Physics around the low 80's and Bio with the high 90's. Is it still realistic to aim for Medicine? What are your thoughts?

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  3 года назад

      Hey Mango, I always think that you shouldn’t stop trying until the siren blows. Always aim for that goal unless it’s completely impossible to get it. It’s not like you aiming/not aiming for it will change your atar prep. Good luck with it all!

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  3 года назад

      Definitely English is where you’d want to devote a lot of effort though

      @@DarrenTan21 hii I would like to ask ...does Monash take interviews seriously? Like when accepting us to med school....or do grades matter more ?

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  2 года назад +1

      Hey TD! Yes interviews are very important. I know people who didn’t score That high were accepted, and people who had excellent grades and missed out

    • @td7116
      @td7116 2 года назад +1

      @@DarrenTan21 is that so...I'm not very confident in interviews ...but like do we have to give really good answers in the interview ? ( Like the video u did sample mmi questions) or even if it's not exactly like that it's okay ?
