My friend and I are starting exodus 90 dec 1st. We have been planning for about a month now and decided dec 1st would be a good time to start. The timing of this video is truly incredible (Nov 30th), goes to show God works in mysterious ways. Pray for my friend and me please!
I did exodus 90 in 2020, and I’ve maintained many of the things we gave up still 2 years later. Fast/no meat on Wed/Fri, prayer life every day, gave up tv (cancelled it. We were told ‘in 90 days, you’ll turn on the news and it’s the same crud as it was 90 days ago’. 100% correct. I realized I put too much emphasis on watching trash that had no positive effect in my life, so away it went. The long term positives you can get out of exodus outweigh the “difficulty” while doing it.

Without Jesus we would never know the fulness of God. Jesus is the key to the universe for “all things have been created through him” So I’m waiting on Jesus. He gives me strength. As a single mother things aren’t isn’t easy on me. I’m overwhelmed at times because both of my children are autistic. I’m desperately struggling trying to support them and myself because like so many others. I lost my job as a social worker at Forsyth hospital because I declined the vaccine. I declined because of my pre existing health condition lupus and heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption. I wish I could go back to the hospital but the mandate is still in place for hospitals that participate in Medicare and Medicaid. I’m waitressing and I’m so thankful to be working again, but I’m not making nearly enough to make ends meet. But God continues to help me. I get harassed and called names for simply asking for prayers, but prayers are all we need to get by, and when you’re a real christian people will always crucify you. Thankfully, God gives me strength to keep going. I have faith God will provide. He HAS THIS FAR. Please pray for me and my children.
I can’t imagine what you’re going through! I will pray for you! What is your first name if I may ask? Don’t lose faith! We are living testimonies that Prayer works!

I'll be doing E90 for the 5th time. I'm a different human being. I have dug out of the human wasteland. If you're struggling with life, then do it. It eventually strips you from your slavish desires and eventually move you to a place where you can love better. Every married man in my church group of 40 experienced a happier marriage. Colossians 2:24-29 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church, of which I am a minister in accordance with God’s stewardship given to me to bring to completion for you the word of God, the mystery hidden from ages and from generations past. But now it has been manifested to his holy ones, to whom God chose to make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; it is Christ in you, the hope for glory. It is he whom we proclaim, admonishing everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. For this I labor and struggle, in accord with the exercise of his power working within me.
I wish there was more of this kind of thing for women. Women's programs are often so full of absolutely cheesy flowers and Instagram-worthy pictures of coffee cups. They usually feel very superficial. I'm 34 years old and don't need another modesty talk like I am 14 years old. I am plenty old enough to dress myself appropriately. I don't need more talks on homeschooling or how to make my home reflect the liturgical season. I want a program designed for women that is geared toward building a sisterhood of STRONGER women because we also face a lot of obstacles far more serious than liturgical home decor. I want to hear more on how to "crush the serpent's head," like Mary, in my own life. I want to see a program for women to study other women that have had to stand strong in difficult circumstances, and how to build up my own strength. Maybe a focus on female martyrs? A women's version should be different. For instance, women cannot do the same fasting commitments while pregnant or breastfeeding. But men get all the interesting programs!
I agree that most content for women is lame and not anything that I haven’t already learnt. I also wanted something deeper. I have started a Postulancy class to be a Lay Dominican and it’s great, it has the meat and spiritual content I need plus a big emphasis on friendship and hospitality within the community of Dominicans, whatever our vocation. You may want to see if you have Dominicans local to you.
Saint Therese The little way or St. Teresa de Jesus Interior Castles. Fasting can be done in many different ways it is not just fasting from food. I don’t believe this E90 lent is just for men because I will be doing it also. St. Clair of Asis was a follower of St. Francis. There many women saints and Martyrs that you could follow there foot in their steps.
Such a great message that gives me hope for a brighter tomorrow, question for any Catholics, how do I get rid of the shred of doubt I have towards god? I like to think of myself as Christian but I still feel this overwhelming voice telling me that there is no god and I should just live life hedonistically, but I don't want that voice in my head anymore, any tips to get rid of it would be much obliged
Oh man… you got that little angel version of you on one shoulder Telling you one thing, and that little evil you on the other shoulder telling you something else. I think you know which one is which.
I have only just found this RUclips channel iadmit that I'm not a religious person I don't wear my religion on my sleeve I don't force religion on other people. 2 subjects I never talk about with other people that's religion and politics I feel those 2 subjects is what divides us as people. I was raised in Scotland a Catholic I went to Catholic primary school in Edinburgh, Scotland and went to church with my mum. I'll be honest growing up I didn't really feel God's presence in my life. In my family we were all Catholic my great uncle was a Monsignor in the church. As I grew older I don't really know why I stopped going to church it might have been because of the job I had at the time working weekends so I didn't really have time to go to church. I think I also had a crisis of faith I began to doubt that there was a God. I remember one time I had a weekend off I decided to go to church during the service the priest announced that they were having a mass confession for everyone present. It had a been while since I had been to church and debated whether or not I should go to confession. I decided to go to confession we only had a few minutes so I confessed my crisis of faith the priest asked me why I had gone to mass that Sunday. I thought for a minute then looked at the stained glass windows and crucifix above the alter and something felt alive in me and made me realise that God is real. He then gave me absolution the words the priest said felt so powerful I felt so moved I had tears rolling down my cheeks felt the love of God from those words. What the priest said at the end mass also moved me he thanked us all for going to confession he said he knew how hard it can be to go to confession. I glanced over and saw another person who was moved to tears as I was I sat there and felt the presence of God and I vowed I would never doubt again. I would like to thank you Father Mike I've only just found your RUclips videos whenever I watch I feel closer to our Lord. I love your enthusiasm and your words and your stories thank you.

Hey people I do not recommend starting exodus 90 before Christmas because it then goes over the period of Christmas which is actually supposed to be a time of celebration. Start it after Christmas, especially when it ends on easter. You will have fewer temptations to break exodus because it is more of a time in the church for fasting. You should not be fasting on Christmas day. Celebrating Christ birth trumps fasting.
Siguiendo la tradición católica, Juan de Antioquía, llamado «Crisóstomo»: «Por lo cual decía Cristo: Yo no he venido a traer paz a la tierra, sino espada. Porque hay una concordia que es mala y una discordia que es buena.»
What is the things I had a problem with? I had it. Needy placement, and I was given strong drugs with a pain. Then, I started using prescription drugs. Abused prescription drugs. Not to get high Get to sleep faster. . I want to confession over this. I was completely out of line
Saint Matthew 19:21 Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to [the] poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Father Mike could you do a Science vs Religion Topic video? I'm a student studying about theoretical physics and most of the things I've learned contradict with the bible. I'm still religious and I was hoping you could help me connect the concept of science with religion.
The two aren’t opposed, and thus aren’t a “vs” Can I ask, what have you learned that contradicts religion? In my eyes, science explains how things work, and theology explains why things work. The two work together perfectly, as far as I’m concerned. Both are necessary and important.
Maybe she came in on her day off to work in the parish office & got pulled because they were short one usher for collection 🤔 Prayers for increased reverence in that church & in all churches 🙏❤
Unfortunately Exodus 90 requires you to have a verified number before you can join or organize a fraternity. That option is not available in my country sadly. I guess I have to find support groups closer to home.
Asceticism has been practiced for thousands of years by numerous cultures and yet here we are...with a man crisis, smh. So, although the idea of the 90 thing is beautiful and is based in an idea of ultimate goodness and even though it may produce a body of better health which improves outlook, it really isn't as effective as doing something that can be considered the opposite of asceticism. What do I mean? Well, I mean, I would effectively help many clients back in the day by guiding them to stop focusing on giving things up and to start focusing on grabbing hold of the new (no addiction is left without being replaced by something, no vice is removed without a virue replacing it). What is it that someone is struggling with? Lonelines? Get a new community, get involved in a group based hobby. Get involved in a food bank and serve other lonely ppl. Is it an addiction or an obsession? Place something more important than the addiction in front of you and take full responsibility for it. If you are high this thing of responsibility could be lost. You have to be sober to take care of...[dogs at a shelter, a person that means a lot to you, a social staple you find super valuable and important. Is it a deep sense of sorrow? Fill it with joy. As you walk along throughout the day let nothing you see go passed without noticing something about it that brings joy to the world. "Oh, look! There's a rock, the blue in it brings reflection from the sky". "Oh look, there's a giant Tucson roach, that one lady really loves painting them- they bring her so much really gross happiness". I'm just saying, this path leads one to a naturally produced asceticism. You can't honestly appreciate someone for their inherent value and still devalue them by objectifying them at the same time. You can't cherish the company of another and at the same time dislike their presence. When you replace devaluing with active valuing you are a happier person because you find an inherent appreciation for all the different nouns in existence. Actively look for something beautiful in someone that dislikes you, actively look for the value of something you find repugnant, actively look for the greater purpose for things that seem to have no immediate value. Actively look for ways to be a force of good in the world. Actively ask God, "How can I be a force of good for You in this situation"? Satan takes us through ascetic trials, we don't have to self inflict with them, we have to learn how to navigate through them with God's guidance. Yep (**clap...clappity-clap, clap**).
I kinda like this… I’m a woman though, appreciate the generalisation of men may be different and I see how this could be life giving for them (plus all the testimonial)
@@neyetm5550 It focuses on the self and it also focuses on self-discipline both of which men tend to like to focus on due to the social constructs that shape men's perceptions (i.e. being independent and being self-reliant which are indicative of success, wealth, and health- all attributes heavily pushed on men to exude). This program therefore (because it caters specifically to this proclivity) is a temporary fix that boosts the ego through feelings of accomplishment and comradery by way of results seen and temporary relationships built. Thus, it is a short lived victory that must be completed over and over again to fool the participant into thinking that they are accomplishing greatness rather than stuck in a hamster wheel made of matter and material. The very stuff (matter and material) that put them into the spiraling depression/grizzled state in the first place). So, in order to, long-term, achieve a sustained sense of well-being and actually meet spritual development on the path, one has to seek know what they are "missing" and/or what is causing them internal angst then coming to service to cause. For example, the saying, "the best way to help yourself is to help another" is true in this context. If you are a drug addict the best job you could ask for is helping other drug addicts to become sober, if you yourself want to become sober. If you are lonely, the best job you could ask for is taking care of the elderly in a nursing home or abandoned babies in a residential facility. It's coming out of yourself and your ego-centeic concerns to meet the needs of others in the same position that you are in that brings the most spiritual growth and internal sense of peace. He wants to help men come out of being in this wretched state, piting themselves in competition, yeah, works, but only temporarily. Piting them against their internal deficits is what's actually life changing. But, too, despair requires a new perspective first and a new way to look at the world (CBT, Cog. Behav. Thrpy); it requires you retrain/rewire your brain to seek out, and find, and see the good, worthwhile, and the beautiful. Thank you for your comment and giving me the clue to explain it a bit better.
@@ameliaolson7580 Depression, isolation, absent enthusiasm. For the men I'm thinking of, in having fellow(s) from Exodus 90 would open a gateway to take part in the suggestions you offer. I don't think the mentioned fellow(s) would have to be involved with Exodus 90 in particular but of living a healthy life and willing to share in helping a challenged man.

To love is to will the good of the the other person. Be careful not to confuse that with infatuation, which focuses more on the self and what is to be personally gained.
I have been thinking about trying Exodus 90, but not sure how I'll react to the cold showers. In the last 6 months too intense of vagus nerve stimulation makes me pass out and really cold water does that to me.
As far as support, Would you be able to point us to something that gives an explanation why Ascension is not a nonprofit? I'm sure there's a good reason but I think many of us would feel more comfortable giving with that explained. Thanks for considering.
I am sure unintentional lack of prayer is fine. You may also want to create some visual aids for yourself, like post-it’s for each day reminding you to do your devotions if you struggle with memory issues. If the post-it is still up you haven’t done it.
You have a way of keeping me from completely going off the rails. I'm a sinner. Thanks!

I plan to start this with a group of men in January for the new quarter and and then come into the Church Easter Vigil!
Prayers appreciated
This is a good suggestion for us all. Thank you. God Bless. claire. I do support Ascension because I use many of their programs.
Brillaint.
God Bless 🙏

Colossians 2:24-29
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church,
of which I am a minister in accordance with God’s stewardship given to me to bring to completion for you the word of God,
the mystery hidden from ages and from generations past. But now it has been manifested to his holy ones,
to whom God chose to make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; it is Christ in you, the hope for glory.
It is he whom we proclaim, admonishing everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.
For this I labor and struggle, in accord with the exercise of his power working within me.
thank you and god bless from germany
Perfect timing Fr. Mike. Our parish just started a Men's Group and this might be something to explore!
In scotland we call it fizzy juice !
I'm quitting smoking for advent.
Fr Mike accidentally said fasting on Wednesdays & Thursdays. I believe it should be Wednesdays & Fridays.
In Australia soda drinks are called soft drinks.
I definitely need to do this need some direction in my life
I wish there was more of this kind of thing for women.
@@viviennedunbar3374 That is a great idea. I know the Dominicans are known for being very academically inclined.
My first 90 days in AA changed my life
I believe in change don't always like it but........
...
I’m in! 🙏🏼
Pray... Christians pray to God everyday, especially the rosary.
Fervently, whole-heartedly pray to God saying “Lord, I believe! Help my unbelief”

See you on January 9th!

Is the clock set to 5:31 on purpose? Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
Cool! You got this men!^_^
Siguiendo la tradición católica, Juan de Antioquía, llamado «Crisóstomo»: «Por lo cual decía Cristo: Yo no he venido a traer paz a la tierra, sino espada. Porque hay una concordia que es mala y una discordia que es buena.»
But Father, not just men. Women too 🙏🕊️
The woman’s version is called Modify 90. I am 27 days into it!
Hope many men join! Also, is there anything similar for ladies? 🙏🏻
Would love to have a group of men I could do this with but unfortunately that isn't the case.
Done!!!
Sorry Father I'm a sinner. I pray for you and your parisoners
What is the things I had a problem with? I had it. Needy placement, and I was given strong drugs with a pain. Then, I started using prescription drugs. Abused prescription drugs. Not to get high Get to sleep faster. . I want to confession over this. I was completely out of line
Is there an Exodus90 version for high-school adolescent men? I suppose it would be almost the same with some changes.
Jesus Makes You a Better Man! Not to worry! 😊
Saint Matthew 19:21
Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to [the] poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Please do a version on womanhood. 🥺🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
There is a female program called Modify 90. I am 27 days into it. It’s very hard but it’s amazing how much weight is lost in both programs.
Cool stuff
You are the first priest i See who have a tattoo, sorry for my Bad English i Like your Videos but i dont unerstand everything, please make German subtitles you will reach more people with it
God Bless you
Father Mike could you do a
Science vs Religion
Topic video? I'm a student studying about theoretical physics and most of the things I've learned contradict with the bible. I'm still religious and I was hoping you could help me connect the concept of science with religion.
The two aren’t opposed, and thus aren’t a “vs”
Can I ask, what have you learned that contradicts religion?
In my eyes, science explains how things work, and theology explains why things work.
The two work together perfectly, as far as I’m concerned. Both are necessary and important.
Science is the study of God’a creation, nothing more. It does not disprove the existence of God, it is evidence to God’s greatness.
I would gladly help you to solve any doubt!
Read "Fides et Ratio" by JP2
Bishop Barron would be good for this topic and I think he did talk about it. Even fr. Chris Alar on devine mercy videos
I'm a woman but I don't care I am gonna try to follow along in my own Exodus 90
I want to do this, too.
Any one wanting to do this in the Tacoma Wa area?
Some men would need Exodus 90 to reach a point of taking part in the things you suggest.
@@discerningmind
Why do you think that is?
@@ameliaolson7580 Depression, isolation, absent enthusiasm. For the men I'm thinking of, in having fellow(s) from Exodus 90 would open a gateway to take part in the suggestions you offer. I don't think the mentioned fellow(s) would have to be involved with Exodus 90 in particular but of living a healthy life and willing to share in helping a challenged man.

Can you do a video on Struggles with loving someone who you can’t get out of your heart but you love them anyways 🥺
I love this girl and she wants to be friends but the truth is I’m better when I’m with her❤️ and I failed at times with sin but that
Does not define me
To love is to will the good of the the other person. Be careful not to confuse that with infatuation, which focuses more on the self and what is to be personally gained.
Amen.
"If we had any possessions, we would need weapons & laws to defend them."

Be a man, be a saint!
I have been thinking about trying Exodus 90, but not sure how I'll react to the cold showers. In the last 6 months too intense of vagus nerve stimulation makes me pass out and really cold water does that to me.
Skip the cold shower if it makes you sick
As far as support, Would you be able to point us to something that gives an explanation why Ascension is not a nonprofit? I'm sure there's a good reason but I think many of us would feel more comfortable giving with that explained. Thanks for considering.
🙏🏼❤️
Have you done an internet series of the type "pre-marriage priest counseling"?
Father what happens when we miss a prayer in the rosary or the chaplet? I have dementia sometimes I may miss a prayer and it worries me. Thanks!
I am sure unintentional lack of prayer is fine. You may also want to create some visual aids for yourself, like post-it’s for each day reminding you to do your devotions if you struggle with memory issues. If the post-it is still up you haven’t done it.
