Please note: When this was filmed, I had only been playing a couple of months. I did this for a bit of fun and to learn more about guitars. m.ruclips.net/video/bLP9SZ-z29M/видео.html is a video of what I was like after I had played for a year!
Very nice. This is probably one of the best replica BJ Strats that I’ve seen. I built a similar Strat recently with a single JB-5 and no other pickups, but I built a custom Warmoth Strat and had it built to my exact specs, it’s an amazing guitar.
crazily enough this was the video that let me discover that green day was a band from the 90s but formed in 86 and not a band from the 2000s like I thought when i was 5
Jo Jo it is best to get a cheap one because you may not like it or ever use it. Sorry I don't have any advice, I was quite lucky and got some quite good guitars from my Brother. The most common beginner guitar are Squires, so I'd start looking there!
My first guitar was a darker colored blue strat copy so I covered it in stickers. When I think of "iconic guitars" my first thought is always Blue. Well done, I bet Billie Joe would be proud 🤘
Long & mcquade here in Canada has a tropical turquoise stratocaster from squier, & It's very close to the same exact guitar as the Daphne blue, it's a very subtle difference in color, except the fret board is different.
Kaiser Carter I drew around the pick up onto the pick guard and then I cut the guideline with a small electric jig saw or you could do it with a dremel
with a squier deluxe strat guitar ,can i get a full size humbucker in the bridge? I asked a guitar store they said it might need to cut open the wood inside the guitar to create space for a full size humbucker such as SD sh4 JB , They also recommend the hotrail/jb jr instead of the sh. Is cutting the wood would harm the guitar tone cuz I know there is a difference between the hum and the minihum
+Raymond Wong Most squires manufactured now are made to accommodate humbuckers. now humbuckers at an angle is a different story. Near the bridge is a small chunk of wood that you would have to cut out to help fit a humbucker. Me personally i just rerouted a single coiled strat to accommodate for an angled humbucker. Tone comes from your Amp/Pickup combination. cutting out small areas of wood shouldnt affect your sound trust me you're safe
+Declan W so I bought a seymour duncan sh4 jb for my strat , is it okay for the spacing ? cuz i know i should have choose the f space trembucker but it's more expensive. am i gonna be fine with the sh? my squier spacing is more than 50mm
Raymond Wong If you're looking to put it in at an angle then you may run into some problem areas but nothing a hand dremel wont fix. now just a regular humbucker set up (No angle) you're clear to install it
Declan W is right, it is necessary if you fit the pick up at an angle you do need to cut out a small area of wood the factory routing is for a vertical pick up, see 1.50 - 1.52, this didn't affect the guitars sound. Hope that helps.
I lined up the new pick up with the original pick up screw holes, so it was at an angle. I then drew round the pick up and then used a very fine jigsaw to cut the pick guard. You can see these steps at 1.25 - 1.50mins. Also note that you may need to cut a small area of the body under the pick guard to make the pick up fit as the body was only routed for a vertically mounted pick up. See 1.50 - 1.52mins!
+Venis Pagina It was a bit of trial and error, I raised the height of the humbucker as high as I could without the strings hitting it, then tried it in a few positions to get the best sound. It's slightly higher at the bottom E string than the the top e string.
Hi, good job, a question, what pedal do you use? You already know those details, why I want to buy one that is heard equal to green day and I do not know which to buy
Lila Crazy Hi thanks! The pedal I used in the video was a DS1 distortion through a small valve practice amp! However now I use a Fender Hotrod Deville with a BD2, Chorona Chorus and a Soulfood Overdrive!
awesome :)! and thankyou you're video is incredibly helpful thankyou!! Getting the sticker order right seemed impossible until i found this! then I saw st ives and i couldn't believe it!! haha
Yousician is the best way to learn guitar and Skip Ad
Alejandro Molina lmao same here
Alejandro Molina its not
Jake Calva It was a joke
Alejandro Molina or (you ad) you can look up tabs online

you literally took billie joes life work and done it in 2 minutes good job
Shahid Ullah, cheers mate!
Aliber did your guitar sticker shipping come from russia
Aliber also if it did then did it come quickly
No sorry it came from the UK
thanks
Fun fact:
The JB pickup stands for Jilly Boe Armstrong
what??!! lmao
seems like BJ it stands for both Billie Joe and Blowjob
@@lil_weasel219 when i first saw the BJ on his guitar i thought it was that but oki dookie it be billie joe
What about the sh4?
I get the joke but for some reason, Seymour Duncan named it the Jazzy Blues lmao.
I love how he people bitch about the little differences with the guitars. He did a great job!
Cheers mate, thank you!
wow did that take alot of work. and it sounded great. great job
Cheers mate (yeah it took a fair amount of work)!
God I forgot how much I love this album... also I think the guitar turned out AMAZING! I totally wish I had the patience and money to make that
TheHeadBanger201 tbh it doesn't cost a lot, the most expensive part is the pick up which, I believe is around £60-£70
Aliber Yeah, but I still can't get a job for another about 6 months because I'm too young
TheHeadBanger201 You could probably get a cheap 2nd hand one if you looked around
TheHeadBanger201 You could probably get a cheap 2nd hand one if you looked around

You've been playing for a couple of months and you have 6 god damn guitars? You seem a little eager to get into a hobby.
Coconut All of them were my Brothers which which he left at home and Blue was my first guitar
That's pretty cool that you built your first guitar.
Coconut Cheers mate!
even tho this is a FAQ, will you put a maple neck on this to make it almost perfect?
I would totally buy that!
That'd be a great birthday present. 😍❤️
It's better to make one yourself, it really helps you get an understanding of guitars!
Anyone else see him slip in that cheeky 'i bet that you look good on the dance floor' at the end 😂😂
Well spotted! I'd only been playing for 8 weeks when this was recorded, so didnt know that many riffs! :-)
@@Aliber15 Only 8 weeks?
You rock, holy fuck
It took me like to 2 years to get that lmfao
@@Aliber15 8 WEEKS I have been playing 5 months and it still sounds like crap 😥
Aye bro😉😉 not tryna be toxic but dont ever fucking judge peoples playing right off the bat
That is the best blue replica I have ever seen.
Thanks @Daffy 21 - really kind of you to say so...

You put a neck with a rosewood fretboard, the Blue have's a maple neck with maple fretboard
Wollace Menjao I was thinking the same thing
yea it only looks like rosewood because of all the gunk stuck in the frets of the real blue
Wollace Menjao also has to be a Fernandez Neck
AWalkingTaco same with you
shut the fuck up dude
Nice job and great sound. Also, does anyone else think Sassafras Roots sounded awesome with the feedback in the background? Cos I sure as hell did!
Thanks!
billie would be proud! awesome job!
What a coincidence i was looking for this and 2016 and you uploaded it this year!
+neil kundert Cool - glad you found it!
Stickers from - 'Old Skool Relics on ebay.co.uk'
Spray paint - Halfords Ford Riviera Blue
I cant find the stickers
Thanks for finding this! Wasn't the set I bought, but I think they were removed
Super Manja cheers!
Do you have wiring diagrams for replacing a single coil with a humbucker
Did the stickers come with the worn down paper bits
My plain blue guitar comes in tommorow and I can't wait to put the stickers on it!
Hope it worked out well!
Yooo the having the solder iron laid down and soldering it that way is such a good ideA, thank youuu 🙏🙏

Yes, it looked awesome!
Thanks!
I want to get an electric guitar sooooo bad. They're pretty expensive though.
Jo Jo You can get some cheap ones for like £50 (although it won't be very good)
Aliber Yeah, that's why. I want to get a good one, but oh well, one day hopefully.
Aliber Although, do you have any recommendations on cheap electric guitars? I know they won't be good, but it's better than not having one at all.
Jo Jo it is best to get a cheap one because you may not like it or ever use it. Sorry I don't have any advice, I was quite lucky and got some quite good guitars from my Brother. The most common beginner guitar are Squires, so I'd start looking there!

Steap 47:
Keep this guitar half step down
All you need now is a maple neck instead of the rosewood and you're there. Nice video
this is amazing. it's beautiful

Great Job. Thinking about doing a Cobain Jag or Mustang.

I want this so bad, inspired me to make one myself
Wow that’s amazing. True dedication
Many thanks for the kind comment!
I want one that looks sick
Mr. Snipes Cheers mate!
😁😁😁😁😁
Aliber how much for one I could send you my guitar so you could make me one
sports gamer x well the hubbker pickup is about 80 dollars plus stickers and stuff so I would say 125-150 is fair unless you provide the pickup
i think the hardest part is finding the stickers, where can i find them?
Now all you have to do is write 150-200 kickass songs to go with it :)
Excellent Job, Looks amazing!!!
That's amazing seriously !!! Well done and you can play too!!!!
Thanks! I'd only been playing a couple of months then.
+Aliber really? Such a quick learner then!
Rachel Slavin lol
Is it bad that I thought to myself, “the first song you play on this better be welcome to paradise”
You play I bet you look good on the dance floor?
YOU ROCK, old school arctic monkeys are the best
good job man.
How did you modify the pickguard? I have been trying to figure out a way of doing it without shattering it for ages.
Kaiser Carter I drew around the pick up onto the pick guard and then I cut the guideline with a small electric jig saw or you could do it with a dremel
Caught me off guard when you played I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor by Arctic Monkeys at the end! Favorite band by the way! 😁
looks and sounds great !

such a cool guitar
how did you go about making the corners look distressed after painting? fantastic job buddy!
epic bro keep posting!
great job on the guitar, but you should really learn alternate picking for solos and such.
Thanks for the advice!
Aliber Cheers mate , isn't the rivera blue too dark because i made a replica and it's too dark . I even bought it from halfords . Thanks
And also is your guitar a mini squier or a standard sized strat
Shahid Ullah The blue turned out alright on mine, its a full sized strat with 21 frets!
with a squier deluxe strat guitar ,can i get a full size humbucker in the bridge? I asked a guitar store they said it might need to cut open the wood inside the guitar to create space for a full size humbucker such as SD sh4 JB , They also recommend the hotrail/jb jr instead of the sh.

What grit sandpaper did you use for the body to get the clear coat off the black paint???
Can you please give me instructions on where and how to cut the pickguard?
I lined up the new pick up with the original pick up screw holes, so it was at an angle. I then drew round the pick up and then used a very fine jigsaw to cut the pick guard. *Anyone know where I can find the specs of BJ's actual Blue guitar? Did he keep the 250k pots, or swap a 500 for the humbucker?*

+William scott I bought them from 'old skool relics' on ebay, however if you want to make your own a good site is: bjstickers.the-area51.com/.
dang, that's amazing dude! nice job making DIYs!
Can u make me this exact guitar? I'll pay obviously
Wish I had the time! Glad you like it! Cheers!
bjguitars.com/portfolio/1994-version/ although you’ll have to put in the humbucker yourself

How much did it cost you to build Billie Joes guitar
Around £150
Did you change the volume/tone pots for the humbucker or did you use the ones that came stock in the Squier?
wait a second.. what st ives are you from ? is it cornwall, same here i'm also making a blue replica :D

Maple fretboard fisrt of all, because it changes a lot at first sight. But for the rest looks pretty nice! Good job!
sound is a little too clean but that's not something you can fix i think
