2023 i 4 m 50 Brooklyn Grey. Just did a 1900 mile road trip chicago to nyc and back. EA charging was great no wait times thank you sheetz. range was more than enough to get to the next charger with an 80 % charge. car gets looks and comments . Love the purchase. $73 k but $5k off due to having a dealer exec driving it 700 miles. Wife uses it to commute to work at about 1/4 the fuel cost of a 25 mpg ice vehicle. Dont understand people's hesitancy on going electric. Fear? ignorance? I dunno. Looked at a model 3 performance and there was no comparison. Fit and finish and interior appointments are far superior. It is a Tesla killer. oh yeah, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds is fun.
Great review. I have been looking at EVs and have decided this is one of the best EVs available now. However, I just discovered the Polestar 4. That looks like an amazing car. Now I’m torn between the BMW xdrive 40 and the Polestar 4. The 4 isn’t available for awhile so I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the wait. Any thoughts?
Also, I would HIGHLYA RECOMMEND looking to either lease or purchased a slightly used one, sometimes with 1k it less miles. The depreciation will save you enormous amounts of money
I haven’t driven or sat In the Polestar so I can’t speak on how that feels, but between the 2 looks wise I’d rather have the i4. I’d go take a test drive in the i4, that’ll sell you I believe. As for the i5, it’s too big. The i4 is still nimble and comfortable.
Hey Kenny great review! This is a really nice car and I am with you as to whether or not I would ever own an EV. So agreed about liking the sedate styling of this ride. I do not like the more outrageous styling so many manufacturers give their EVs. Love the instant power for sure you got from mashing the pedal down. Hope that you are doing great!
In my opinion, that "Way Too Off The Wall" car has a MUCH nicer looking front end than this BMW . . my 2000 740 IL had a nice looking front end with MUCH smaller, more horizontal "kidney" grills. I don't know how ANY of these manufacturers can sell these vehicles with the enormous front grills ( Toyota/Lexus included ) . . . and YES, ALL BMW's should have HVAC control levers outside of the center screen.
As someone who's lived around jet fighters all my life, a pair of outrageously big intake scoops isn't as jarring to me as it is to most folks. That said, I got my i4 in black with the shadowline package so it really tones down the front.
Physical controls are stupid when you can do everything through the steering wheel/voice control. My current vehicle is all touch screens, and I barely ever touch them.
The iDrive system in BMWs is quite practical if you customise it to your liking. The controller wheel lets you manipulate the info screen without ever raising your hand to touch it. The tile-based GUI means that you can see your selection in the corner of your eye. That means you can operate the infotainment screen without having to look directly at it, much less having to tap some words displayed on a computer screen. I have navigated the song list in CarPlay without having to take my eyes off the road, using audio cues as the cursor moves over screeb selections while using the controller wheel. Much more sure and reliable than arguing with a voice assistant who might not quite understand your verbal requests.
We are considering this vehicle. Does anyone know anything about battery life? When will it need to be replaced? Approximate replacement cost? Thank you all in advance.
I would recommend leasing this vehicle, in Canada we’re offering government rebates to lease ev’s not too sure about the states. Also I’ve noticed they depreciate quite quickly when they reach higher mileage.
I totally agree that car companies are making weird, off-the-wall looking ev's just to look like ev's, and they look awful. If Mercedes made an electric ev that looked like an S Series, it'd be a winner but instead they make the EQS that's not selling because it looks like an ill-proportioned garbage dumpster. 😎
Awesome detailed video. And I do like how you share the information. If I can give you a small feedback- this could be totally me, but if these things are “obvious” to me, I might not be watching. I think you use it as a filler word and its… a lot.

Damn, you make me really wanna get the car! Thanks for the insight
I got the I4 M50 . Better than the Tesla for all the reasons you mentioned and a 3 sec 0-60 for more fun. Very happy with the decision.

I love the i5, it looks so damn sick inside and out. Buts it's all preference

The v8 x5 looks drivable thanks. Peace bro

Kenny, you did a great job with the review of the car.
Hmmm not bad for an ev. I really like the interior.
Love it! Just got mine in Portomao Blue!
Have a 2024 i4 xDrive40 for less than a month. I don't like the large turn radius and lack of storage space, but everything else is fine.
Really informative mate, thank you
never shut the door pushing the glass use the metal part of the door
The range on 2025 is down by at least 30 miles. I think it’s around 270-280 miles now. I wonder what’s the cause of the less range
Great coverage of features, options and opinions. interested in daily charging life of BMW's i4's in a Tesla world
Ev are fun cars just need more fast charging stations. I got use to the climate control in screen.
EV driver here would highly recommend home charging for convenience and cheaper cost. But yes, more level 3 fast charging for traveling cross country.
Awesome job Kenny.
Thanks brother
I maybe soon, I buy this 2024 BMW I4 EV.
Do you prefer EV’s or gas powered cars?

I too prefer the horizontal kidney grilles. The only bigger kidney grilles I like are the ones on the M3 and M4. They look better

Is the "X"Drive40 only available in the USA? Im in the UK and the bmw website only has the "E"drive40
Yes only in the USA as of right now
Starting in Germany in July, I've ordered one, maybe soon in UK?
@@martinmeyer9133 thanks. May I ask, what is the delivery lead time on your vehicle?
@@tobyhallam4750 Hi, 8-10 weeks in my case...
