Not sure who's idea it was to stick with the radio announcement, but it feels like they will think they're super wacky and goofy in incorporating it while everyone watching will roll their eyes when it happens Let's see if I'm wrong
@@groot1421 "They" that is mainly Jendrik. The delegation gave him most of the creative control about this project. It was his decision and it is his project.
@@groot1421 I think this is one of those songs that will make sense with the visuals. I think if you watch the video you'll have a better idea of what that drop means.
@@apmaps I definitely understand that! It's quite clear this isn't a song aimed for a listening session, but a performance with the wacky music more acting as a backdrop :)
Charming, quirky, creative, fun and it has a great message. It doesn't feel messy to me, it feels like planned chaos, if that makes sense. The song keeps changing things up and going in a different direction. When I think I have the song figured out, suddenly there's a rock explosion. When the song starts repeating itself, suddenly there's tap dancing. Even the bit of German language is a surprise. To me, this fits with the theme. Shaking things up is a way to open your mind, see a different point of view, accept someone different. I can understand why most people don't like it, but I love it. Easily in my top 10 if they can stage this well.
Definitely agree that this is harmless, charming fun and it's clearly been written with a performance in mind rather than for pure listening pleasure. The sudden changes make a lot more sense when you watch the video, for example. I'd honestly rather have this in the contest than something bland but well-produced every time.
Wow, what a review. It's a good thing that Jendrik doesn't feel hate. Haha I'm not a fan of the song too but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna enjoy every second of the live performance. This song is definitely not catered for most of us. He really is a fun down-to-earth kinda guy and if he were to receive some success in Eurovision as a literally unknown singer in the whole world (sorry, that sounds harsh than it's supposed to be), he's going to be such an inspiration to everyone who's in the same shoes as him.
I think this is one of actually quite a couple of songs this year that were more clearly made for the contest than for the sake of being a good and complete song by itself. I think a well put together staging could potentially turn this entry into a good result for germany.
Sån’t är livet? Anyone? For me it’s just impossible to not love this song. Sure, when it comes to the arrangement it’s not too impressive and I’m pretty sure that it won’t finish too high in the competition, but I still love it. It’s so happy and charming and I simply can’t have a bad time listening to it. I haven’t been listening to the song too much, but when I do I really enjoy it! I also really agree with what you said about the message. It’s a very important message and I think this is a great way to spread it!
I can enjoy this, although it's true I have to be in the right mood. It's not meant to be anything artistic or high concept, and it doesn't have to be, it's just fun! I'm looking forward to the live performance, which I imagine will be very enjoyable. It's got a sort of kids' show feel to it, which I find charming, but yeah I can see people getting annoyed quickly. The radio announcement bit is technically the first German we've had in Eurovision for a while, which is nice!
In my economy class. Not one you'll rush to get back to if you don't have to but will get you somewhere if needed - ie a bit of jollity and fun. Once it's over it's over.
On a musical perspective this is horrible, but it is fun, quirky and innocent. I'm not really fond of the message, but I can see some people voting for this anyway.
While this song never fails to put me in a good mood, it is starting to get on my nerves and I don’t think it will secure a good place in the show. Still I’m glad in a way that this song will represent Germany, because after years of taking ourselves way too seriously and still ending up in the bottom 5 (except 2018 ofc), this year, we at least have a song that’s happy and doesn’t take itself too seriously.
I’ll keep it short this song is definitely not for me at all and it my least listened to... however I feel this song could get a televote of some sort in the final as this is a fun song with a good message.
I completely agree with you! It was very hard for me to listen to it until the end. It gets annoying very fast and I'm sorry to say this, but this is a disgrace for music...
@@groot1421 No. You see I say Sorry at the end of my comnent. Coffee is not my cup of tea, if I can put it that way. It's even worse than the tee sorts I don't like at all. I'm truely Sorry.
No like come on. Its cheesy in the worst way. The whole concept of being "untouchable" and not taking any negative critisism and watch me in happy and all this is so overused and we have seen it so many times done better im sick. You can make an upbeat and fun song without being cheesy and cringy. Sometimes im really tilted that the big 5 has a free ticket to the finals when these 5 spots could be given to countries that got stuck in semis but are more worth. Im moving way too far from my point but i dont think that this song should be in the finals without "fighting" for its spot. I dont like it we have seen it done a lot better we bace seen the exact same concept a lot of times I really dont like it. Guess i didnt catch the meaning of the song afterall 🤔
I think there needs to be a distinction between negative criticism and hate. I don't know Jendrik here and how he responds to things, but to me it comes across that it's the hate from trolls and straight up non-nicities he wants to highlight. However, many people tend to consider negative criticism as "hate" and that's where this whole issue kind of collides with itself... It's a difficult topic to combat, but personally, I feel like he's on the right side of the spectrum I agree with you on the big 5 by the way... I still have no idea why anyone should be entitled to always be in the final unless they won (or pre-2008, be in the top 10) Good results should reward you, not your status (see this whole European Super League in football for a comparison...)
@@groot1421 you may be right about the whole hate part..Thinking about it makes more sense especially cause a lot of people critisize the entry based on the country and not music itself which can lead to way too much hate for no reason..and yeah big 5 as an idea is...questionable
I love me some ukulele. I wish the song was pure ukulele joy, because those explosive parts between the seperate parts is SO ANNOYING. They ruin so much for me.
The video clip is super childish. Hearing the song without the visuals is kind of a relief. However, despite the message being valid, the song is ultimately a bit of an embarrassment.
This song is like designed to personally make me rage. I HATE the sound of whistling, I can’t stand this twee thing Non-Hawaiians do with the ukelele (like to the point I see a White Person with a Ukulele and I think “oh no” like I’m borderline at the point where if you’re not a Pacific Islander you can’t even look at a Ukulele). The production is so busy and noisy. Jendrik’s overly eager human Labrador thing going on here combined with the lyrics make me want to make him feel the hate that this song triggers in me. Like I hear it and I want to fight someone.
It is different and a bit catchy.
By the way: The "radio announcement" is part of the song and it is going to be part of the staging in Rotterdam.
