A couple who fall in love with each other at first sight that express actual doubt about their feelings on screen. So rare to see characters question themselves, I absolutely love it!
im so glad i saw this wayy before i saw disneys cinderella. as a kid the only cinderella i knew looked like me and i loved myself more because i had a black princess to look up to and i was fully convinced i was a princess too. representation is sooo important.
Tay Lee I totally agree with you this was the first Cinderella movie I've ever seen when I was little she was my skin color and not that many princesses were and it made me feel like I was beautiful in my own way and so ever since then I always looked up to her and I never stopped watching the movie
I saw the Disney Cinderella first, however I LOVE this remake 'cause everybody is incredibly boss in this musical. I understand your point and super happy, for you, that Brandy was able to be an early role model. She's a talented artist.
Same. When I first saw Pocahontas, I was mesmerized. As a native American girl, there was never a princess that looked quite like me, and even though my great grandfather was the grand chief, I never thought of myself as a princess until then, and now when my little sister watches Moana, she feels the same way
I saw the Disney version first but this is my FAVORITE! Everybody in today world wants to bring race into every equation, and this has all races and no one question it. It’s by far my favorite and forever will be. We all bleed red
I always thought I liked this because it's was a black princess but listening to this just changes it all. Not only had they met before and probably piece together who the other is (Cinderella because of the way he speaks and I'm pretty sure the Prince recognized the family but I digress) But because they actually express doubt and fear in this relationship going any further. Trying to see each other beyond looks. I love this movie so much and just this version in general.
Dude, I’m surprised no one is pointing this out but you. They HAD met before and during their meeting, you can tell they are piecing together who the other one is. Like even when the Prince searched for Cinderella, he instantly knew whose family she lived with the moment he entered the house and even when expecting her in her room, she want there. The Prince had to find Cinderella in the marketplace where they actually first met.
This movie is a special part of me and these songs encourage me I've found my prince so I'm devoted to forever be in love with this movie even as a child I fell deep so now I'm deeper
Played this as trombone 2 in my high school’s pit orchestra, I liked the reprise more but this one was pretty good too. The guy who played Prince Charming lost his voice the day of the musical and you could tell. Can’t wait to play in the pit orchestra next year, it was so much fun last year

"Are you the sweet invention of a lover's dream, or are you as wonderful as you seem?" Probably the best line conveying love in a song ever.
For me it was “servants I’ve got, what I need is someone I can really talk to” ❤
"Do I want you because you're wonderful? Or are you wonderful because I want you?" I love this!
This made my eyes tear up a little.

Girl yes, I remember being 5 when this came out and almost lost my mind because I saw a Cinderella with some braids not blonde hair and blue eyes!

I played that tape until i knew every word of it but then it disappeared. Honestly, I think my mom burned it and danced on the ashes.
I'm so glad my mom never did that to any of my disney tapes.

Makes me cry over my own 'love story.' Long distance is lovely and painful at the same time.
Actual song starts at 2:10 then picks up again at 6:04 after she runs away -- noting this for me and for others because i listen to this so often XD
This movie is a special part of me and these songs encourage me I've found my prince so I'm devoted to forever be in love with this movie even as a child I fell deep so now I'm deeper
