For double or triple layered discs I would say avoid any no-name / cheap brands. Verbatim should be the safe option. Also possibly the burning speed and cleanness of the surface affects the result.
I purchased this along with 16x blu ray discs and I cannot select 16x write, only 12x. This is in both the included software and native windows writing tool. Drivers on PC and firmware for the burner are up to date. Any ideas?
I have a yuge CD collection to upload. I had an external disc drive from CompUSA that had a power brick, usb 2.0 that thing was FAST compared to these new ones that are powered by USB, hoping to get the same results with this

All of a sudden my ASUS external DVD writer is showing up under my '' this pc'' as a ''BD-RE Drive'' as opposed to it showing up as a ''DVD RW DRIVE'' as my other external DVD Writer is. Am I right to assume the BD means blue ray? It will not recognize my DVD+R DISCS, My DVD-R, or my DVD+RW discs, and it has been working well with those discs up until just recently. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Can I use this to burn photos and files (not just video) into a br disc and use it as semi permanent backup for my work ?. Or does this just burn video .
@@VideoGameXDomain I have used dvds as file storages for a while now and they worked great..but now the file sizes are too big for a dvd making a single phone backup use up multiple dvds. I wasn't sure whether I could do the same with Blu ray discs.. so I asked.

If you have a video editing software program or such like Nero you should be able to as a Data Disc burn copy. I used to do that with DVDs.
