Please do publishing on a budget!!!! I could use some help, because I want to release my first three books fairly quickly (quarterly) so, the costs are really adding up as I plan.

Yay! I recently caught up on this series and it's fantastic.
I've read books where well-known authors gave prominent characters their own book or novella, maybe not really part of the series itself, but sort of an "extra." I guess it depends on who was telling the story, such as, if the series is told in first person by main character, that person probably wasn't there in the other character's backstory and didn't have full knowledge of the past events being told, so if still told by main character, it would have to be a current "revealing" of this other person's story, maybe based around a plot that may be a minor mystery or purely romance if it's not a series book. Or it could be told in first person by the other character. Either way, I think the thing is that, particularly if it's a novella, it's treated more like an "extra" on the side while still giving readers a "full meal" novel in the same style as the rest of the series.

I agree with pacing and flow regarding chapter length. I’m fine with a one page chapter and a fifty page chapter in the same novel!
I also really love your Q&A. I would also like to see more doing publishing on a shoestring budget I’ve seen in with your other fans have commented to you. I’m also working on a science section/religion book.I have mentioned to you previously comments on your videos hey. I’m not sure whether I should go traditional publishing or Indy publishing I’m gonna so much if I’m writing I’m watching your videos as well as other videos on writing.I can’t tell you how much I really appreciate your videos keep up the good work

So helpful and so interesting Sarra. A friend wants to write an e-book (not a story, more self-help tho) and asked me to find out how to format for Kindle and if there are other platforms; how it works etc.So many hints and tips and advice about things I've never knewf! .I am interested in maybe doing VA work so this has been super useful to share with my friend and bonus, for me too. Thanks Sarra I always learn something new from you .I'm a scanner - interested in so many things. I call myself a G.O.A.T - Gill Of All Trades. I am interested in you ideas of writing a serial. You were talking about this in one of your earlier videos. I have a concept that should work as a serial.

Originally, the "Sookie Stackhouse" mysteries were called "A Southern Vampire Novel." I have the first three in paperback because, when I bought them in 2001 or 2002, there were no hardbacks printed. These are the first editions. Sorry, Cliff Claven here with little known facts. :D
I found that the whole series of videos was exceptional; sound advice from an experienced and established author - well done 👍
I'm writing, or should I say 'hoping to write' a dark fantasy trilogy and I don't want it to go beyond three books. Now, I'm not a planner, most definitely a pantser . I have the story arc, protagonist and his companion's character arcs and several major events along the way. I like to see where the characters take me on their journey so do you have any hints, tips or advice on ensuring I don't go beyond three books? Or would you have any other recommendations?
I'm also planning on attempting my first NaNoWriMo this year so I'll be watching your upcoming tutorial on prep-tember with keen interest

Where can we find descriptions of sub-genres? I'm still struggling to place the book (1st of a series) I'm planning for nanowrimo. My lead character is in her teens when the arc starts, but probably in her early 30s when the series ends.
I know you publish wide but what do you think about someone who is just starting and is just bringing out their first book? Do you think kindle unlimited is good for that person?
Why is first person narrative sometimes frowned upon? I don't often do it, but I do sometimes and it doesn't seem so bad.
Matt, I think it has to do with the fact that it's a more "modern" way of writing genre-fiction for the most part. I think some readers are uncomfortable with the pure feeling of "this person's voice is in my head" that first-person narrative provides. Like it's just too close for them? I love it, personally, and I prefer to write in first person, but there are definitely some readers out there who just can't stand it.
I personally love books that are written in the first person narrative. it really makes me feel like I'm becoming the character or experiencing things from their point of view.
