Well, of course NSW didn't deliberately try to lose the game. They thought it'd be okay to carelessly send a novice with a poor tackling technique at Walsh to tackle him dangerously and recklessly because Madge is still living in the 70s.
NSW took a chance and lost. But they were careless and stupid and got what they deserved.

1:22 there’s a massive difference between targeting a player and head hunting. Joey was correct the blues should have run every play at JT. It’s what JT would have done, it’s what Joey and lockyer, Alfie, Freddy and Lewis would have done. Make a guy who’s injured work that’s fair game. Head hunting is illegal and foul play.

Gal can say what he likes, Walsh was indeed targeted from the perspective of trying to minimise his impact. Every team does it to some degree. There's no doubt the way the hit on Walsh played out was unintentional, but there's also no doubt the intent was indeed to hit him as hard as (legally) possible - and that always comes with the risk it will go wrong, which it did in game 1 so NSW paid the price, as they should have on the night.

How do these jokers just sit there thinking everything was fine with that tackle! Reckless tackles like that need to be stopped. I’ve been watching footy for a long time and knew he was going to be sent off as soon as it happened. That was a sickening attack to the head and Reece was very lucky he wasn’t more seriously hurt. Who knows the longer term affects from a hit like that.

It happens in all contact sports. Even in soccer, you see players taken down when it's not a full body contact game. What is wrong when it is said to be one of the toughest sports. Where is the toughness now? It is difficult trying to avoid being hit hard in a full contact sport. It is up to both attacking and defending players. The real cause of a team losing is when a player is sent off from the 7th minute. It hurts... not one individual player or a club, but the whole state. My thoughts. I love my Rugby League the Greatest Game of All. Simply The Best.

Firstly, he wasn't the target with the intention of hurting him. They targetted him because he is an elite game-changer. But the fact still stands that Sualiii ended up unintentionally taking him out. You have to be very careful especially the defender when you tackle. The tackle did not result with its intended purpose but it was still a huge blow to Walsh and both Players had to be sit down. It's just plain common sense.

It’s State of Origin FFS, since it’s inception in 1980 every player on both sides has been a target. This is the way it should be! If this aspect of Origin is lost, is it really Origin at all?
