This is my first ever REAL roller coaster ride and as someone afraid of both HEIGHTS and ROLLER COASTERS, this was an absolute banger! Not too many high drops and not too overwhelming. Just perfect!
as somebody who absolutely cannot stand medium-sized drops this would be pretty fun. I like that the drops are pretty subtle and there aren't many drops.
@@oliviareyes8872as someone who absolutely HATES drops, I hate the drops on Cars. I’ve never been on Space Mountain so can’t say, but the “drops” in this ride are barely noticeable imo
After avoiding the Disney world version of the ride multiple times I finally decided to give it a try . I’m not really a fan of rollercoasters and I usually chicken out of getting on them . I was forced to get on this time by my mom and boyfriend. When I sat down in my seat I felt my anxiety creeping out so I started freaking out and I I was begging the workers to let me off but I had to do it . I can honestly say I enjoyed this ride, once I decided to live in the moment , I found myself raising my hands in the air and screaming. I enjoyed it so much that I went on it twice . Hey, I know this comment is a little old, but I'm so glad you enjoyed the ride! I also struggle with ride anxiety and you just described what I go through all the time with rides (panic, begging to be let off, etc), but I managed to get onto this one willingly and I agree it is SO much fun! A great, "easy" coaster for those of us who struggle with these things. Happy for you! Also happy late birthday!
Big thunder is such a launching point for so many when it comes to roller coasters and even as an adult it’s so much fun to ride. It only goes like 25 miles per hour tops 😂
For any first-timers who are interested in this ride, I went here on my trip to California around a year ago, and I gotta say, this ride was definitely my favourite one. It’s such a small rollercoaster, but the intensity levels are skyrocketing when you’re actually riding it. As a person who used to be very anxious about rollercoasters in general, I would say that the scariest part of the whole thing is the minor drop at 2:04, just because it feels like you’re about to hit your head at any given moment, and the pressure from the big turn it puts on your body feels a bit weird, but other than that, it is probably one of the best and most classic rides in the park.
No, it is definitely not bad at all! Yes, it’s definitely fast and a bit jerky, but there are no actual very large drops, like classic rollercoasters. It is very fun, and oh, for the anxiety aspect of it and the goat part, just hang on tight and close your eyes if you even want, because it is over very fast!@@vicentenunez9390 I believe in you! Have fun ^_^
This is my favorite ride at Disneyland and this is coming from someone who is also very anxious about serious coasters. One thing I like about Thunder Mountain is that that drops after the inclines are never super steep. They always ramp up gradually before they go further down. In my opinion, don’t expect to be scared, just expect to have a whole lot of fun.
Yes this ride is the best there! I have a tradition where I wear my big thunder mountain railroad shirt and magic band on the last day! its amazing but what is sad is because it is more than 40 years old its really starting to break down a lot it breaks my heart :(
My sons first thrill ride. In home in Australia he doesn’t meet the required height. But because they use the British imperial system in America they round it off higher and he qualifies
This was closed when I went last week so I couldn't get the credit. Like not all day, but just when I went it closed due to some weather concerns and didn't reopen that day.
If ur wondering thunder mountain is not bad at all! No drops but maybe some hills but like not really, not super dark, it is fast I may say and it lasts for atleast 1/2 minutes and is totally worth it! I am horrified of hills/ drops but I recommend this one, Definitely not space mountain tho! ( only if u are horrified of drops ) it has 2 huge drops and u cannot see what’s gonna happen only if it’s light inside, it is pretty fast but if u hate drops I do not recommend, and if u like drops that one is for u. But if u like drops but not in dark than I don’t really recommend! I do rlly recommend cars thoo >>
okay this is so strange- i've been on space mountain before, and before i went on it i was TERRIFIED, sweating, and panicking but after the ride i wanted to go on again. but the thing is, i also hate drops, i can't stand them. i've never been on big thunder before but seeing those screams, it seemed more scary than space mountain-

i’m kinda scared to try out this ride when i go to disneyland next month. whenever i go to an amusement park for a field trip or with friends i usually chicken out on the bigger rides. i went to knott’s a couple weeks ago and the scariest ride i went on was jaguar… it’s not even the fact that i’m scared of rollercoasters, i actually just hate the stomach-dropping feeling. but sometimes i really wish i didn’t because most of my friends love big drops, and it’s usually just me and a couple others who are stuck waiting in line with our less-wimpy friends. it kinda sucks, never getting to go on the bigger rides.
update: as a wimp, this ride was SUPER fun! the drops are very small and it’a not too fast. on the other hand, space mountain was a bit too much for me. it can get pretty jerky and it seems super fast while having sharp turns.
We were there yesterday and got 4 rider in. The 2 at night seem to be hauling ass especially arounf the helix. I noticed something while waiting in line. When the train comes down by the dinosaur skellington and makes the sharp right into the brake run. The wheel is comes off the rails and makes a sounds. Was concerning.

materhorn for sure! it doesnt have drops and it usually just glides sideways, which doesnt feel the stomach drop feeling. its a little dark at the start but i assure you theres no hidden drops or anything, it always isnt that bad you got this

I'm looking at this video and the ladies hair barely moved...when I felt like I couldn't even reach over to grasp my son it was so fast and intense. It was crazy! It was fun though....but wow
In general, roller coasters tend to be a bit faster when they're warmed up. The grease in the bearings actually becomes less viscous, which means less resistance. So especially on warmer days, they tend to warm up over the course of the day and can therefore be faster in the evening. It's of course not a huge difference, but it can be noticable and make 4 or 5 seconds of difference in the ride duration. The weight of the riders can also influence the speed, more weight means more momentum. But apart from these things, I doubt they change anything about the ride's speed.
I’m a little upset that my family and I won’t go on this attraction because it’ll be refurbished by the time we arrive in 2 weeks. My family and I are crazy about this ride and it’s not fair they’ll have to refurbish it when we actually get there.
