Laura, your awareness of simple things like clearing back the dirt so people can see the edge of the hole is awesome.
You never “um” or “err”, you speak fluidly and confidently, and then with Aaron’s camera and editing skills, your videos literally put many TV gardening shows to shame. I’m forever thankful of your skills, and knowledge, and that you are willing to share your unfolding garden with us!

At 74 I have a hard time holding a drill. Sigh... It is so frustrating. Laura is right, go with DeWalt drills! Hubby bought one from somewhere that stopped working while I was hanging curtain rods! I went and bought a Dewalt Just to finish my project! At first, he was mad that I spent $$$, however, he quickly realized it was the better tool. LOL Now I doubt I could use that auger; I am reduced to a small trowl. Aging is not fun!

I’m digging the rock music! Laura needs to enter carrying the auger in slow mo, hair blowing back and wearing sunglasses! 😄 on a more serious note, I bought an auger recommended by the bulb company I ordered from. 3 holes in it bent and was useless after that. It didn’t even hit a rock! It was just hard soil. Thanks for these recommendations!

Due to sticker shock for some augers, I ended up buying a "cheaper" auger off a popular online store and wow it sure was CHEAPER. Tried using it to plant my bulbs...DUD! So, for everyone considering buying an auger, treat yourself to solid steel one, I know they are quite pricey but it is a good investment for all those holes in the future!

Laura, I absolutely love my Power Planter augers. I have two sizes, a 3" in the 12" length, and a 4" in the 24" length. These augers are heavy-duty and extremely well made. You are the one who introduced me to Power Planter augers in the first place, and I'm so glad that you did. Planting bulbs has never been easier. I'm short, 5' 1" and I'm trying to decide if I'm strong enough to handle a bigger drill, maybe the concrete mixing one. The Dewalt Hammer Drill is the one I'm currently using with the smaller augers, and it works for me. Have a great weekend! ~Margie

Tips ... Didn't read all the comments so maybe these have been said...
For planting with an auger.... I like to set my drill on the lower setting used for putting in screws, instead of the higher setting used for drilling wood or metals, etc. The lower/screw setting also can have a racheting adjustment that stops the blade rotation if it catches on something like a big rock/root. This can save your wrists from a harsh jolt.
I find there is usually no need to put any significant pressure down when digging with the auger. The blades tend to pull the auger into the ground and you really only need to guide it while drilling holes.
And... Don't rush. It's tempting to try to go faster and faster as you plant a lot with an auger. But a measured pace is best and is still way faster than other methods of planting.
With two helpers and one 2" x 24" auger I planted about 600 perennial plugs in a rocky hillside this spring in under 3 hours. One person placed plants per the design, one drilling holes, the third put in the plant. Not a speed record, but an easy pace to work at and no struggle overall.
    Happy planting

It is so helpful to have all this auger and drill information in just one video, so we don't have to go searching through all the videos trying to find auger ones....I've been down that wormhole, only to emerge hours later! Also, great editing/effects in this video!

Good morning Laura and Aaron and all Garden Answer viewers. Greetings from the lovely island of Dominica.
My take on auger use is that they are especially helpful to ladies who do not have as much arm strength as men and makes a lot of digging more time efficient.

I JUST ordered a 1 1/2" and a 3" this week for the very 1st time! I went CRAZY with bulbs to plant this fall, and thought this would help me a ton. It's funny though, because before my search of "bulb planting tools", I had never heard of them! And now here you are doing a video on them! Very helpful!!!! Thank you

Wow! I have been wishing for this video. So much info packed into 15 minutes. Since the auger/drill setup can be pricey, I was lost in what I should get. Thank you so much, Laura and Aaron. Fantastic video once again. God bless.

☕ Good morning ~ loved today's video and the music & graphics. Nice!
I've been waiting for one of these videos! Looks like I need to invest in a new Dewalt 20 volt drill and a few new planting augers!
It's time to step up my planting game!

Thank you for explaining the augurs! This year I realized my knees are not quite up to digging 9 little holes with a small garden shovel plus extensive weeding in one day. 🤦‍♀️. I have started using your zone trick and it really helps! I, and my knees, thank you. 😊

I bought a cheap one (knowing it wasn't the best choice) to see if they'd work for me. I can tell it won't last forever, but it does fine and makes my life a lot easier! When it dies I'll definitely get a nicer one to replace it because they are a GAME CHANGER!

Definitely a video to reference when I am in the market when I begin "auging" holes. It may be a pricey investment, but it would save so much time, and some aches and pains. This is such a helpful video. Thank you Laura, Aaron!

Laura, your videos are so professional! You and Aaron just keep getting better and better! Love them! And love your family! My daughter and son-in-law are building a house on 5 acres so I see the need for a few augers in their future! My 3 inch won’t be sufficient for their space! Sharing this video with them. Watching you plant last year, I was inspired to plant bulbs for the first time ever. I bought over 300 bulbs. I bought an auger, too --- 'cause that's what Laura does! My wonderful husband helped me plant all those bulbs, He was so happy that you recommend using augers. :-) Looking for my Colorblends order to arrive any day!

Laura, this video had the exact content I needed to make a decision regarding the size (diameter) of auger I need for my DeWalt drill (I have the 20v you have). In reading about you, I learned that you are from East Oregon. I went to high school in Portland (OR) and finished in Boise (ID) - went to Capital High School. Anyway, my wife and I live in a suburb of Fort Lauderdale (South Florida) near the Everglades. I just started a landscape renovation project (we have nearly 5,000 Sq.Ft. of terrain begging for better landscapting. I am definitely planning to follow some of your advice - my plants will be mostly Zone 10b types, but I'll experiment with other varieties.
Just wanted to write a few words to express my gratitude for your time, dedication, but most importantly for sharing your botanical knowledge and experience.

Not sure if I'm in the market for an auger as my city lot has been labelled 'over-planted' by 2 arborists that have visited our trees... but I have to say this was a great video! as an artist I appreciate what goes into the production. If I was in marketing with PW or PPA or Dewalt I'd be knocking on your door for rights to this video. As others have said Laura speaks confidently and from the heart, Aaron captured great footage, as a team you organized the set up brilliantly and Ken/Aaron - hats off you nailed the editing! What a team- well done!
I began watching your videos because although I'm in Canada we are in the same zone, I return daily because of the positivity and great content.
