Congrats hermano, naked bikes are the best, they're like sport bikes but with the comfort to still be able to ride on the street and do some touring every now and then. They're also more affordable than big giant ADV bikes.
It’s gonna be great everywhere. Being able to flick the bike easier decreases exhaustion. Plus you get the added benefit you need less brakes to slow the bike.
Congratulations on the acquisition of your new bike, and welcome back to the Beamer family. My S1000XR (model 2022) and your bike share the exact same engine, but your bike is probably faster, because it's lighter. The handlebar on my bike looks different, because I have the Intelligent Emergency Call and the grips protectors fitted to it. I have installed the BMW Connected app on my smartphone. I then connect my bike to my smartphone via Bluetooth and the app will record a number of relevant technical details while riding. You may also find this useful. One thing puzzles me: Although your bike is keyless - just like mine, why do you need a physical key to open the fuel filler cap? I simply lift the tab on the cap and it opens, there isn't even a keyhole in the cap. BTW, I hail from Belgium in Europe.
It seems BMW cheapened out with the keyed gas cap on the S1000R. I might look to see if I can retrofit the one from the XR, if not I might just go with a keyless one.
@@CubanRider I bought my first keyless S1000XR in 2020 and the fuel cap was always like this. Have a look in your manual for the S1000R. Check in its serial number which manual you need, it will be available over the Internet.
@@CubanRider I had a look in the manual for the S1000R (type 0E53 U.S. version), but even when this bike is keyless, the fuel cap still requires the use of the ignition key to open the cap. The next time I visit my BMW dealership I'll ask them what solutions there are to have a keyless fuel cap on the S1000R similar to the one on the keyless XR.
I didnt feel like you needed more power the way you slice up through A-traffic at COTA :) Congrats on the new bike cant wait to see those tail lights at COTA
I had one for a little while, and kept getting the front end wobble. Ended up putting an ohlins steering damper on it and it cleared it up completely. I attribute it to the DDC and different rider weights/conditions. Unfortunately, the bike was stolen and pretty much demolished and i never recovered since.
Sorry to hear about the bike! Any plans to getting another one? I haven't had issues with instability. The damper is on the softer side, but much more stable than the base Tuono I had prior to buying the S1000R.
@@CubanRider The ohlins damper on the 2nd click (if i remember right) was perfect, felt not as stiff as the stock one, but more stable and even on front end lift no more wobble. My s1k was a 2019 tho, idk whats changed tbh i'm trying to get a GSXS 1000 F right now but i just can't make enough between checks to stack up what I need.
My man. I'll wait until COTA turn 12 to see how the lowest ABS setting feels. If it's anything like the XR, I shouldn't have any issues with it intervening.
The RR you can disable ABS with the rear lights disconnected. Not sure if they added that to the R. You can test it. If not, I can add it for you.@@CubanRider
I’m curious if the 1290 SD was one of the options you considered? I have one and actually kind of missing the power delivery oh and I4. I go back and forth on trading to a S1000R
@@CubanRider I can understand where you’re coming from. I bought the 1290 SD based on all the hype and to be honest, I was pretty let down. It just made it more obvious to me that I prefer a good inline 4 1000cc engine for what I do which is very similar to your riding style. Keep up the great videos!
The 1290r takes awhile to setup. The stock steering damper is shit. But once you replace with a good aftermarket one and you get the suspension dialed for you. It’s a lot of fun on street or track.
The newer one is solid in corners, it's straight line acceleration where it feels a bit unstable. I have yet to mess with suspension settings, but it feels good as is.
This one had the DDC suspension which you can adjust the damping while riding, so it's a lot more comfortable than the Speed Triple RS that came non-adjustable and very stiff.
Surprised you didn't go with a fully faired superbike for a track toy. Old man body problems? Still an amazing machine. Big congratulations! Looking forward to the full review. 👍👏
You need a small bike, I brought a 1000rr and a ninja 650 to the G2 track, the 1000rr didn't run due to a bad connection on a fuel controller, ran the 650 all weekend, and really had a blast racing the bike bikes, and really learned alot on how to shift and use engine braking as I used all 6 gears. Guys on 1000's admitted it wasn't all fun a track as they just use two gears. Take off the mirrors at high speeds on a naked, it will get rid of the wind making the bars wobble.

For rear suspension on track I used to keep my single R in passenger mode and it stiffened up the rear pretty good. Great bike!

Congrats Cuban on the new ride! Shaving 60lbs is going to be sweet on the track.
Can't wait to see what it can do. 🤙

Small world. I bought my R1250RS from Ken @ Iron Horse in Tuscon and rode it back to Milwaukee last September. Nicer dealership than any in Wisconsin.
Very nice CR!! I just picked up an S1000R as well! Have the Bren Tune goodies ordered and already have an Akropovic header on it. :-)

I'm sure you'll test it well ! Will you mount a screen to help deflect some air ?

You can disable the ABS fully, just needs some coding. Done it on mine. Can do it on yours if you want.

Having ridden a 1290 SDR in the past, I think they're very exciting machines, but I feel I'm more precise with a smooth inline four.
I had a 1290 gen 3 wasn’t fussed on it..could never get the front end dialled in to suit my fast corner entry

What did you give up to make room in the garage?🥺
One of the XRs, but still one left 🙂
I bought the previous gen 2019 R and have stability issues in corners, could you share your preload settings and weight to help?

Excited for more videos with this bike!!
Quick BMW key tip. Attach an apple airtag to it ASAP. Them BMW keys are pricey if you lose it.
I've felt this pain personally.
Why didn't you get the m?
So are all these type of bikes firm or bouncy over bumpy roads?

Where did the Tuono go??
wrecked

I looked for one, but couldn't find a new '23 locally.
Dimelo hermano so no more XR's in the stable?, all gone?......
Still have one 🤘
Better than Speed 1200 RS?
Maybe.
Better than the xr?
Better in some areas, worse in others.

It is a small bike. A Ninja 650 weights 420 lbs, I can get the S1000R to that weight no problem. :)
