i saw them live a while back at Sydney Opera House and sharing the stage with Chvrches another time, they are still a brilliant band in every respect, and generally just good people as well.
Taylor has been with me in ways that no one else has. Which is an insane thing to say, because I'm highly aware that I'm a stranger to her. But her music has been a part of all the highs and all the lows of my life. I hear mirrorball and think about my experience in the pandemic. I hear Tim McGraw and think about my childhood best friend. I hear Clean and think about how 2015 was one of my hardest and most rewarding years. It's just all so interconnected and I have a profound love and respect for her that is simply unwavering.
KF, I'd love a discography discussion series! Swift would be the prime place to start given the current zeitgeist, and could latch a lot of new fans to KF. Maybe Tim or Andy host, get some musically trained/experienced KBBFs on (as well as people with no functioning knowledge of music for contrast!), and just go album-by-album through the selected artist's history. Could do a pun off of In Review, maybe In Replay? In Re-Listen? That's up to y'all lol. I'll watch the mail for my creator royalty check 😉
I’ve been a fan of Taylor Swift ever since I was 13/14, but I stg I’ve never seen her be THIS famous and present in terms of stardom. I used to think that Swifties were crazy to compare her to Michael Jackson but now I’m not too sure
Tim couldn’t be more wrong saying that Renaissance/Club Renaissance is less of an event lol. Would love for him to do a little bit of a deep dive to understand why this tour and album is so special, especially for LGBTQIA/black queer communities. It absolutely rivals Taylor’s as an event just in a different way, and I mean no disrespect to either artist! :)
To me, the whole Taylor Swift thing is essentially just high school drama all over again, but cooler and less toxic. But, its essentially the same. The drama, the love, the hate, making songs about exes, picking sides between her and whoever she has beef with, the feeling of popularity or exclusiveness when you get to go to a concert that has certain secret songs you got to hear and no one else, etc. Hearing Joey try to explain the re-recordings of old songs, for example, sounds so much like a high-school teenager talking about the gossip she heard from someone else. So, for those that are in that era (teenagers), and those that think fondly on that era, she is appealing. I fall into neither camp, and don't really enjoy her music.
Most of her music is more mature than the discourse around it would lead you to believe. A lot of the drama has more to do with the fandom around her than the actual music, but even in this case, Joey was just explaining the reason she didn’t own her masters anymore and why she wanted to re-record her music to own them, it didn’t feel gossipy to me. I fall into neither camp as well and enjoy her music. The reputation she has about writing all her songs about ex’s is also pretty blown out of proportion, most of those songs wouldn’t make you think of an ex of her’s unless you follow her personal life deeply, which I don’t. And some of them are more about being a famous teenage girl and having men twice your age being creepy and abusive and the trauma and shame that’s associated with it, rather than the ex themselves. Also most band’s do secret songs, it’s not unique or special for an artist to have a consistent set list and have a few lesser known songs sprinkled in for different tour dates, it’s just more known for her because of how elaborate the production is so they can’t make big changes and those songs have to be saved for the specific “secret songs” part of the show.
So I’ve talked to my wife (an avid swiftie) and we both agree she’s like on a cult level with the swifties. But she makes being a swiftie fun like looking for clues about what’s coming next. And the great thing is she doesn’t have to!! She’s giving all these hints just for the fan to have fun and that’s amazing when you can transcend your music to something else. And she’s an amazing song writer too!!
I've been doing a lot of out of the country traveling this year, been to a couple wrestling shows, found out my cousin who is best friend is gonna be a dad which is super exciting: but experiencing the opening night of Drake's tour is still the highlight of my year 🦉6️⃣🙏🏾
I never understood the popularity or like for Taylor swift. Her voice just doesn't do anything for my ears. So anytime she's praised. I'm just left really confused. But what I do wanna bring up is that Michael Jackson was a huge star and had bigger impact on his audiences and sold insanely on tours and other shows. World wide love. I mean there's video proof too. To me he's more impressive than anyone now because he did that stuff from like 7? To idk when. He's iconic on many fronts. I remember seeing 100s of people just fainting at the sight of him. Had to be carried out by medical teams. Did this in a time with no social media. From a broken family and no real chance to live normal at all. I feel like people should go watch clips or videos of his time and see how big he was in comparison. Cause Taylor might be the closest in a long time but still not on Michael's level.
Tim, TSwift came to Kansas City and following reports showed her being in town did more for downtown businesses than when we hosted the whole NFL for the draft. 😂❤🎉
I used to perform karaoke and open mic nights back in college. If I was to return to the stage, I'd go with some Judas Priest like Jawbreaker, or INXS (with a Cowboy Junkies type of attitude). Or paraphrased Whitney Houston homage with "How Will I Know if She Really Loves Me?".
seeing how massive Taylor's fan base is around the world, she could easily be put in the same group as Michael Jackson and The Beatles and Elvis when it comes to that level of pop stardom - i'm not surprised if she has to get about in suitcases to avoid being mobbed! ...as an aside, it's great to know that composer friends who've employed folks who also work for her only have nice things to say about her "behind the scenes" in the studio, on the road, etc., saying she still seems to be in it for the music and the fans. i'm inclined to believe it when she's personally taking up the fight against shady ticket sellers & just gave her current tour staff tens of millions of dollars in bonuses for their hard work putting everything together each night - she seems like good people. love to see it.
I know it’s not me. But when I saw my name in the chapter list, I was like. Oh shit! What…why? Oh wait they mean the famous Canadian one. It still takes me a minute.
Man, I loved British Black Mirror. I haven’t liked almost any of the US version. I’m interested in the Hartnet episode, but I kind of wish they would have just made it a completely different show.
You realize that everyone knows the Grammys are a massive joke, and not listening to someone just because they won a Grammy instead of someone you like is ridiculous right?
My Swiftie heart loved this episode so much! I wish more people, particularly men, would approach her with curiosity like this vs the negativity and eye rolling swiftness are usually met with. 🩵💙
Shocked that Greg wasn’t on the Taylor Swift episode
makes no sense
Great episode! Love when you guys talk about movies and tv shows
I knew Greg wasn’t a real Taylor Swift fan, if he was he would have been on this episode
Of all times to talk Swift and not have the Swiftinator (Greg) there is criminal!
You guys and T Swift got me through some of my hardest times back in the day so this was extra special ❤
The Cure concert at the Hollywood Bowl was amazing!!
i saw them live a while back at Sydney Opera House and sharing the stage with Chvrches another time, they are still a brilliant band in every respect, and generally just good people as well.
Seeing a concert at the Sydney Opera House is definitely on my bucket list, I bet that was awesome.

TSwift and KF is the exact center of the venn diagram of my life lol can’t believe Greg wasn’t on this episode
Out of the woods on 1989 is my all-time favorite Taylor Swift song. Can't wait to hear her remix of it
A KF Podcast about Taylor Swift and Greg isn't here?!

I'm a little surprised that Greg Miller isn't part of this conversation. I remember when he was the resident T-Swift fan of the Game Over Greggy days.
I got too drunk and missed a the cure concert once lol regret
There was a girl i had a crush on that was a big Swiftie. So i did my homework and couldnt help but become a fan. Her music is just so good.
Taylor Swift explained and Greg isn’t on the episode?!
I’ve been a fan of Taylor Swift ever since I was 13/14, but I stg I’ve never seen her be THIS famous and present in terms of stardom. I used to think that Swifties were crazy to compare her to Michael Jackson but now I’m not too sure
Damn! We're almost at 300. Any plans?? KF live coming back
When are we getting Taylor Swift in review
I miss the GameOverGreggy Show

Jay and Ye did NIP 11 times in a row, in Paris. 40 minute video is on youtube, crowd was lit. 40 minutes of one song haha

We all know Nick Scarpino got Suits back on top. The big wigs at Netflix will try to tell you differently. 😄

If I was dying of thirst in the desert and Tim Gettys tried to sell me liquid IV, I would just die
😂😂😂

One comment said a merch guy said they broke their merch record for one day in LA... $3mil.
This has to end up being the most viewed episode ever based off title and thumbnail, if not then the algorithm is stiffing u guys
Agreed, this should be perfect for the algo.
Any comparison to MJ is insane.
Yes, I like Franklin and Bash.
The Cure and The Clash discussion was PAINFUL
Jon Lojoie is a pretty cool name nick

The crew
The worst thing about Taylor Swift is swifties hands down.
Joey is always great ok the podcast!
Leave it to Joey to always know every single obscure generic white guy actors

Im glad im here before there are negative “eYe aM vErY sMaRt” comments bashing Taylor Swift. Just straight up love so far

Man, I loved British Black Mirror. I haven’t liked almost any of the US version. I’m interested in the Hartnet episode, but I kind of wish they would have just made it a completely different show.
being an older man who likes taylor swift will always be weird to me 🤷🏻♂️
Being someone who gets put off by what others like is weird. 🤷🏻♂️
this episode might have just turned me into a TSwift fan lmao
ever since To Pump A Butterfly lost, i can’t even try to listen to Taylor swift
You realize that everyone knows the Grammys are a massive joke, and not listening to someone just because they won a Grammy instead of someone you like is ridiculous right?
I still don’t get it
This episode blows...
I have Taylor swift tattooed on my body. You will never find a bigger fan then me
Who likes sports ball, right guys?
In a world where religion has been replaced by capitalism, icons like Taylor swift that have become the most marketable are the new gods.
i dunno, religion, at least in the west *is* capitalism. among other isms lately.
Religion was capitalism before capitalism. Now put some money in the donation box.
Saying something like this without understanding that church’s have always been capitalistic
Just so you know, they’re coming for you, better make it quick
Not sure I like Nick’s attitude here about Swifties. He feels belittling
My Swiftie heart loved this episode so much! I wish more people, particularly men, would approach her with curiosity like this vs the negativity and eye rolling swiftness are usually met with. 🩵💙
