    I love when films are filmed like this and not on crappy green screens. It feels so much more real not like you´re just making a movie

      Actually they used a very minimal amount of green screen. The ski chase had some and very little besides that.

    Anderson is a fantastic story tellers. Not just only the story in which he almost whimsically shows our humanity, frailties and all but visually as well. People always talk about his sets and visual direction. Different asp3ct ratios and all that. But, his stories aren't just quirky funny. I suspect they reflect Wes Anderson and his life experiences which.. all great artists draw from their own experiences.
    In am era of Hollywood where just so juch utter garbage is made with massive budgets...I'm so thankful there is a Wes Anderson that can still make these wonderful movies. The French Dispatch, IMHO, may just be his masterpiece. When I read a review complaining about the disjointed story and too many "Wes Anderson" shots.. it tells me everything I need to know about them. You actually need to use your brain watching his movies and... be able to get in touch with your inner child to a degree. His movies are the only movies I truly can wait to see!

    1.) "So I'd like a dolly tracking shot"
    2.) "Hey could we make this more symmetrical?"
    3.) "Are you sure they dont need camping equipment?"
    4.) "Can we shoot this but like in slow mo to David bowie?"

    • @wesjohnson4637
      @wesjohnson4637 6 лет назад +12

      Hi there. A Key Grip and his Grips can have many responsibilities, but primarily, Grips are builders and riggers-they work with the Gaffer to rig lighting, they build/run cranes, dollies and other ways of moving the camera, and they rig large reflectors/diffusion/negative fill. Grips rock.

    this movie is has an allegorical feel about it, it pertains to the state and happenings of the Roman Catholic church in the 20th century. The clues: 1) the society of the crossed keys is referencing the Holy See, which is the Vatican, the fraternity of concierges represent the Jesuits and their connectivity and have lobby boys which are kind of like alter servers/ lower Jesuits (notice how all the concierges are not married/don't have wedding rings at a time when it was the norm to be married by 25). 2) The main character's trait of admiration for/by an older generation particularly lonely women. This demographic has a high amount of fellowship in the church, they are the ones who give the most gifts to the organization, some being extremely generous. The concierge basically lived in luxury due to the excess he received from these women, which, in turn, he gave solace and companionship to the weak willed. 3) the birthmark shaped of Mexico: This was one of the most weirdest aspects of the movie, this girl named Agatha that falls in love with the lobby boy who is the man servant of the main character, she has a birthmark shaped like Mexico on her right cheek and becomes "inducted" in the Grand Budapest Hotel. she gives undying loyal to both of them. This is suppose to represent Latin America being taken off the missionary list which means they are a solid catholic country in the eyes of the Vatican, the blind faith of the countries of Latin America shows itself through her essential behind the scenes workings that save them from doom. She ends up dying and eventually the main character dies and the lobby boy takes over everything including the hotel, in the present time of the story the hotel is sort of way passed its prime and has faded out of importance due to the lack of aristocracy in control (just like the Catholic church). When the lobby boy was asked why did he keep the hotel, surely it wasn't because he reminisced about the pomp, he replied "of course not, I stayed for Agatha." this could mean that even though the church used to have great influence on powerful nations it now stays functional due to the "undying love" that Latin America gives to the church. YEAH IT'S NUTS.
