    You are using the holster in a manner in which it was not intended to be used. If you want to prove it's a bad design, 1) contact the company and verify they sent the correct holster 2) put it in your waist band and try to get a finger or jacket string in the trigger guard. It will be hard to do because the waist band of your paints will be covering the trigger guard protecting the trigger. Only thing that's currently on the fail boat is this review. Whoo whoo!

    • @jasonbourne3745

      It’s black and white not covering the trigger!

    • @mblinkous
      @mblinkous Год назад +16

      If you conceal carry by walking around holding the holstered gun in your hand, then you are correct. BUT that is not how you correctly carry with an IWB holster now is it. When you carry the IWB holster INSIDE THE WAISTBAND like it is supposed to be used, your waistband covers and protects the trigger. The only thing black and white is the fact he didn't demonstrate the failure while correctly using the holster.

      There's zero reason or excuse for an exposed trigger in a holster. Sooner or later someone will go to draw their firearm and their finger will hit the trigger. More likely in a panic situation I'm sure. It shouldn't be a possibility to happen. Ever.

    • @mblinkous
      @mblinkous 11 месяцев назад +7

      @@jamesholder5725 can you provide the timestamp in the video where the holster was actually inside the waistband and the "failure" was demonstrated by trying to draw the gun? You can't because it was never shown. Why? Because he knew it can't be done. Anyone who thinks it could be done is as inexperienced as the reviewer.

      @@mblinkous what's it matter if the holster was in the waistband at that point or not? People don't typically train unholstering and just grab and pull. The trigger should never be accessible in a holster. Whether it's sitting in his hand or in the waistband. I can't believe people are making excuses for this. It's a dangerous.

    I own 5 of these and absolutely love them. Easily the best, most concealable, most comfortable OWB I’ve seen. Have had no issues with the trigger guard gap...you can adjust for a deeper insertion (though it costs you on retention). Retention, with a full mag, is amazing...I can shake the hoster upside down and the gun doesn’t come out. I would imagine that you can force your finger down into any leather holster once broken in if you really want to...that 1/2” of open guard isn’t going to make any difference. Any holster, guard coverage or no, is susceptible to having a tie string or shirt tail get caught down in the holster...it’s not going to get in there BECAUSE of the guard coverage (which does vary from gun to gun...one of the drawbacks of universal versus custom). Can’t speak to the clip...like I said, mine are all OWB (you slide your belt thorugh). I run Vedder Kydex for training, so I can see where the clip issue can come into play for those who use clips/paddles. But zero out of 10? I can deliberately run my car into a tree because there is no guard around my gas pedal...some of it has to come down to the safety between the ears.

      Pulp fiction your correct i agree 💯% mine is iwb love the holster I'ma get 1 of the owb to try it. I had to take my holster to the leather shop & have them move the clip up which lets the holster sit lower along my waist/belt line maybe a little harder to draw the gun but it's way more concealed/comfy rarely do I have to draw the gun so I'd rather go with making the holster more comfortable 🤷

    I just got one for my Springfield 1911 Emissary and it works fine. I’ve only had one outing with it so far but it was quite comfortable and it holds the pistol in place pretty good. Though my holster is a little different from yours. Mine has the slots for running a belt through and is a little wider. One small complaint I have with it is that when I draw the gun from it there are tiny flakes of leather on the gun. Maybe it’s because it’s new but I hope it stops. I don’t want the internals getting gummed up with leather particles. No other leather holster I’ve ever owned for my other guns has ever had this problem.

    The holster is really well made, and very comfortable. The reason I sent it back, was not the slight opening in the trigger guard- frankly, I just don't remember if there was one- but the way the holster RIDES on my belt. The clip in NOT adjustable, or I might still have it. It's strictly made as a low ride holster. I'm a big guy, and no matter how I tried, it was quite difficult to get a purchase on, and draw the gun. I have to disagree with you on this holster, I have glock 26 gen 5, glock 42,M&P 2.0, and M&P Shield all with lock leather iwb and owb holsters. Triggers are totally covered, very comfortable, have no problems with them, when leather breaks in still holds the fire arm securely. In your case of the iwb holster when the holding clip goes around the belt the pants waist band covers the opening you mentioned ,when holster is in place and u draw there is no way your trigger finger will come in contact with the trigger, besides your finger should not be on the trigger until your ready to fire. Anyway to me it's a great holster I like it better than the kydex ones.

    • @concealedcarryworks7374
      @concealedcarryworks7374 2 года назад

      It can be both depending on your priority. His priority is he wants 100% trigger guard coverage. In my opinion, while that is optimal, that may not always be possible especially if you carry with a WML where holster manufacturers are forced to have more of an opening in the holster. The trigger guard coverage should be great enough that you have 100% confidence that it will not be pulled negligently.

    • @concealedcarryworks7374

      Space between the top of the belt and the grip is a very real consideration. Especially if you use the Scott Jedlinski "stab" down to get a claw grip, you need adequate space to allow your fingers to drive down into that space. I NEVER comment on any blog or video but I see an additional second danger to this holster and wanted your view on it.
    Isn't there a possibility that when the firearm is incerted into this holster, that that retainer mechanism could move past the trigger guard, push back the trigger, and cause the firearm to discharge? If debris fell into the holster, it could stop at the mechanism instead of dropping to (or through) the bottom of the holster, resulting an unwanted BANG.

      Vedder light tuck works very well with my shield. But mine doesn’t have optics.

    I wanted to provide an update for everyone on this holster. I think John missed something, and that is that if this holster is to be used IWB, then there is no way for any 'strings' or the like to get caught in the trigger, the trigger is completely below the belt. Now of course this WILL depend on size of gun and trigger guard design, so I am speaking strictly about my Sig P365. It fits perfect though there IS that 'gap' where the trigger is not completely covered, but on the P365, the trigger itself is in the holster so deep that I could not even touch it, let alone get my finger in front of it to pull on it like John did. I can see that being a concern for an open carry (OWB) holster, but for IWB where the trigger is below your belt line and between your body and your pants, I don't see it as an issue especially since the fit is so tight that depending on the gun you might not even be able to put your finger in far enough to even touch the trigger. As for comfort, that won me over. The adjustable retention is great, the belt clip is almost TOO strong (a good thing), but the comfort is top level! I truly no longer feel like I am carrying, it's going to take some getting used to. It IS tight at first, mine is still breaking in but it's totally useable and totally comfortable. I personally recommend this but ONLY IF using IWB, I would not recommend using for OWB (open carry) as the trigger WILL be exposed ( again, depending on gun model/size). That's my two cents.

    Thank you! I seen the gap in the pictures and it’s the first thing you addressed. Won’t be purchasing. Thank you for your informative video.

    Hi John, Great video as always! Can you please do a review of the Urban Carry G3? I was considering getting it and really would love to hear (and see) your thoughts! Thanks!

    If security is your only concern then a level 3 kydex is your only choice. For the rest of us we will enjoy something like this.

    I have one , it is great holster , does what it advertised , if I have to work my finger into the trigger guard to cause a discharge , I'm the idiot .

      Did you see how you forced yor finger into that small opening and that was with the holster off the belt . On the belt , the belt helps to cover the opening . You would have to put your finger behind the belt , then wiggle it through the gap , push the finger forward into the trigger guard and then pull the trigger .If you can do that , I am sureyou have never missed the G spot on a date .
