His single discography is strong but his album discography is far weaker. I don’t think the culture respects Chris Brown albums, he doesn’t have a Confessions or a Lemonade. He performs well but he’s from an era where all the r&B males sang and danced choreography. That’s not the case now, so it makes him even more valuable as a performer.
He’s successful, but you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to realise had the Rihanna incident not happened, had he and he kept his nose clean in the public’s good graces, Chris Brown would likely be the biggest pop star on earth today.
Chris has a Confessions and Lemonade, it’s called F.A.M.E., 8/13 of the tracklist were hits including a near diamond record. It’s cohesive, got great deep cuts, showcases his versatility across R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop, EDM and Rock. It won him a Grammy, it made him the most money, etc. Not to mention that was the album that not only saved his career after Rihanna but it’s also the album that reinvented and redefined who Chris Brown was prior to 2010. Not to mention how influential it was and is the foundation for artists like H.E.R. and Bryson Tiller and how it influenced R&B albums to be versatile and diverse.
That album is a classic.
