I talked to a couple of people who lost their homes yet remained optimistic. 🇵🇭 Sure, there might be areas that are considered dangerous, but the positivity and warmth of the locals truly made my visit worth it. Totally agree. Despite their conditions they found reasons to smile. They were the friendliest and most welcoming people we met in the Philippines. Happy you enjoyed our video.
I never went to the Smokey Mountain part, but its amazing the resilience of the people there. I think its great you shed a light on this, despite the living conditions, they have build a community which is welcoming and they all have smiles on there face's. I wish the local government in Manila would help allocate basic housing for the people here, just like what they did in Vietnam. Everyone deserves a basic standard of living. I really did learn so much from the people of Tondo, they taught me to be grateful for what you have ❤
Smokey Mountain was very eye opening. Ella was very impacted by what she saw - some things didn't make the video. However, despite their conditions, the people were so positive and welcoming. Manila's Tondo is one of the places has bad reputation and from everyone's POV even other locals they tend to think that tondo is a place to avoid. @livingthejolife indeed... putting ur foot in the others' shoes and giving them importance is the best feeling. They felt that they are also needed in our society ... Equality... Godbless you guys...
The people in the slums are still showing happy faces. It's good you explored this area in Manila. Any developed city in the world has similar issues. I heard about a young man living in the slums of Manila. Day-in, day-out collecting bottles, things to be recycled. That man finished school and became the CEO of a huge pharmaceutical firm. We need to help these people. It's not their choice to be in that situation. God bless🙂 the poor.
Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. Wow that's an amazing story! I hope our video will raise awareness and people will support the Bless the Children Foundation and help more people improve their lives 🙏🙏🙏
Happy Land is safe. I've led 3 seperate food drives in the area, and each one has been great and a success. The people were appreciative of our efforts and paid us in kind by being hospitable and great hosts. On the other hand, when I did a food drive in a small slum in a different city which wasn't as depressed, within 20 minutes, 2 of my young female volunteers were "mildly" molested, and we had to pack up the drive for the safety of the girls.
Welcome to the Philippines, the land of absolute contrast. It's the literally Black and White, Heaven and Earth, highest mountain to under the sea, rich and poor and things in between, water falls to powder like sand beaches. It's the Pearl of the Orient Seas. It's All in One. It's God's works.
Are you guys here for AVC woman's volleyball championship? Australia vs Philippines volleyball just finished. Or Pyrotechnics international fireworks Australia includes in Manila.
Great content thank you for sharing! Watching this makes me very grateful for what I have and also sad for the amount of plastic that is packed down into the ground 😢 I will always try to reduce single use plastic, recycle and be more conscious.
Speaking of Smokey Mountain, the area now is so miniscule. Half of the 1980s Smokey Mountain area is now the Harbour Center if you happened to set your sight on the other side of Radial Road 10. About more than the quarter of the area were developed into high rise houses. So what you visited is the area still to be leveled. Don’t worry, the developer separates plastics when they are reclaiming the land. Those people at Happy land work as garbage segregators. It so happened that many find to make money out of recyclables. Ugly to see but these people we do need to reduce trash going to a nearby landfill. In the Philippines you cannot incinerate household garbage, only hospital waste are burned off.

Tondo slums had been worst since the 70's until late 90's. It was the most depressed place then where crimes are so hogh with so many street gangs are operating and there are street fights everyday with lots of murders, stabbings, ransacking of properties , bags snatchings. There are even some small streets in there that police cannot enter easily because it is controlled by bad element. It was the most dangerous place in the entire country back then. Today this place had improve a lot with some organize pathways and footwalks, many people are now able to improve slowly their houses, there are a lot of developments happened with government schools, health clinics and the brgy structures are functioning.
I'm so glad we got rid of urban gangs in Philippines. The poor areas are safer than poor areas in California. I think the radical muslims are also being replaced by good generation of kids in Mindanao so it's getting safer there as well.

It was an inspiring experience that we will never forget!
This is a brave decision you have ever made... Thank you for showing the world even in the ugliest place of the Philippines. You will never go wrong meeting a very welcoming Filipinos...
Manila's Tondo is one of the places has bad reputation and from everyone's POV even other locals they tend to think that tondo is a place to avoid.
Philippines is a very lovely country, they may be poor of resources, They have the best heart that every foreigners would love...
Salamat... and enjoy the rest of your stay....
Mabuhay❤❤❤
I'm happy we were able to show this area in a different light. The people were so friendly and kind. We felt completely safe and welcomed by the locals. It was an eye opening experience and it definitely made us feel grateful for what we have.
@livingthejolife indeed... putting ur foot in the others' shoes and giving them importance is the best feeling. They felt that they are also needed in our society ... Equality...
Godbless you guys...
L♥️VE FROM THE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭
quite compelling...GREAT!!
Thanks a lot! Happy you enjoyed our video 🙏
Amazing video
Thanks so much for watching 🙏 Happy you enjoyed our video 😊
Im a silent viewer ever since the pandemic days, This is the first time I comment and subscribe, sorry for taking so long =)
Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment 🙂🙏
Happy Land is safe. I've led 3 seperate food drives in the area, and each one has been great and a success. The people were appreciative of our efforts and paid us in kind by being hospitable and great hosts. On the other hand, when I did a food drive in a small slum in a different city which wasn't as depressed, within 20 minutes, 2 of my young female volunteers were "mildly" molested, and we had to pack up the drive for the safety of the girls.
Thank you for the work you do 🙏 We felt completely safe there. The people were so kind and welcoming. Their smiles will stick with us forever!
Thanks for sharing this video, stay safe ,Godbless!
Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏼
Welcome to the Philippines, the land of absolute contrast. It's the literally Black and White, Heaven and Earth, highest mountain to under the sea, rich and poor and things in between, water falls to powder like sand beaches. It's the Pearl of the Orient Seas. It's All in One. It's God's works.
Thanks for the kind welcome 🤗 we are enjoying our travels 🙏

the world would be a better place if everyone knew how hard life can be for some people around the world
Ella interacting and playing games with the people in Tondo thought they're being visited by real life Disney Princess 😂❤
Actually they kept calling me Barbie 😂
You'll find good people in the slums and ghettos areas in the Philippines. I cannot say the same for Chicago, NYC etc
Wow. I think it was a decade when a previous vlogger gave Smokey Mountain a highlight.
Thanks for watching. Despite their conditions they still find a reason to smile.
About more than the quarter of the area were developed
into high rise houses.
Just watched your video and subscribed to your channel. It's really an eye opener and got tears while watching. Thank you for showing us this video that other bloggers never showed before and hopefully the government will do something for the betterment of their lives and have a bright future. Pls. can I have the exact name of their foundation so that I can send a little help. Thank you! Keep safe & God bless your family.
Thank you so much for watching and subbing! We really appreciate it! Our aim was to raise awareness and advocate for these amazing people. Happy we could show the beauty of this area and the people through our experience. Please check the description, I have left links there to the website. Thanks for your generosity ❤️
Show them respect. They will respect you, and youll be safe
Show them rudeness and entitlement and youll be in danger
The people in this area are very inspiring. We are so happy we could show a different side to Todo through our videos. Thanks so much for watching 🙏
I'm so glad we got rid of urban gangs in Philippines. The poor areas are safer than poor areas in California. I think the radical muslims are also being replaced by good generation of kids in Mindanao so it's getting safer there as well.
