    I like a nice easy start to get warmed up on, bog apart that is. Looked a moody old day and good to see it dry as well but it did look really muddy in places. Three courses for £18 sounds a great Sunday dinner out to me but cannot see too many people leaving the popular fells for the outliers, too muddy and lacking in clear paths for most people - me included lol. I must have watched just about every Fatboys films over the years and they are well done but good to see you getting a dry day, despite soaking yourself with your tea lol, cheers Alan

      aye i reckon Wainwright only added these fells to show a tiny bit of love to the north, they are the only 5 but in reality none of them are worth doing.. they are the closest fells to my house and id never even done them before so that shows how unimpressive they are.. out of the 80 or so outlying fells av done so far i reckon there are less than 10 i will ever go back to.. Cheers Alan, tek care :)

    Great video again. Been on Faulds Brow quite a few times. Not done either Caer Mote outlyers or Clint Crags but your video makes it so clear as to where to start from. Quite a few of the Outlyers are great walks and your videos are excellent and so useful when planning a walk. The Fat Boys on tour videos are great to. Look forward to your next video.

      Some decent mushrooms up on Caer Mote like.. aye faulds brow felt a bit bleak, clearly very popular as i got there at 7am and already 2 or 3 cars rocked up for their morning dog walks.. thanks for the support, tek care :)

    Just been catching up on all the videos you've made on the outliers...brilliant mate well done. Have started doing some of these but not all of them will be on the "bucket list" . Your films definitely help us choose the ones we will be doing....keep it up pal.

      aye I certainly let ya know if they are worth doing or not.. i think if i knew now what i would be getting myself in for i possibly wouldn't have started them and just picked off a few 'special' ones.. but too far in to quit now.. i think once you get the shap fells out of the way its pretty easy, apart from all the driving.. thanks, tek care :)

    Ey up Marra, absolute class as always. These outlying fells videos are brilliant mate. As you say, when the rest of the lakes is packed, these fells are empty....well, apart from the sheep! Haha
    This is the reason I go to the Forest of Bowland at this time, so much quieter.
    All the best mate, have a great weekend.

      aye probably howgills and then bowland ill visit after these.. i must say it looks a very bleak place so i dont think id want to do them alone.. these northern fells were all shtie to be fair and i hate to say that but its the punishment of a bagger i guess haha, cheers lad, tek care :)

    Theres 2 summits on Caer Mote, St Johns Hill the one with the name plates, and the higher summit which is further along Caer Mot, my tick of map only had 114 on it do I had to research which was missing, I found them to be Stoupdale Head on the Black/White Combe walk, and St Johns Hill, luckily we visited both when on our hikes

    • @daveostlemountainman
      @daveostlemountainman  3 месяца назад +1

      aye i walked over to the second summit but it was fenced off and the gate had a padlock on so i assumed it was maybe private land.. i walked back over the high point which is where i found the mushroom but the 'distinct' prominent point is the one with the name plates on so am happy with tha, cheers lad :)

      mate if i knew what i knew now i dont think id have ever started them.. there are a dozen or so decent ones but bus routes dont really go close enough to the start points of many of these.. even if they did you would be getting back on the bus soaked wet through and miserable..

    On my patch - I'm actually familiar with these. Maybe not the most interesting fells I suppose but pleasant enough walks. On the flank of Caermote is an easily identifiable Roman fort for those of a historical bent.

    • @daveostlemountainman
      @daveostlemountainman  3 месяца назад

      oh really, i must have missed tha.. aye i dont know why wainwright bothered to add clints crag and faulds brow.. caer mote is quite distinct and prominent so i can understand that, even tho i bet less than 5% of people know its called that.. but i think the idea of taking in new places is what appeals to me.. and they just expand the possible opportunities for short walks in future.. thanks, tek care :)

    Tha's gonna have to go back and do a bit more trespassing - you forgot St John's Hill, to the north of Caermote Hill...
