I have a KLX450R for 8 years now, bought it new. It is a great bike, very reliable . For the motor took the inlet snorkel off and drill extra holes in the airbox. Installed adjustable fuel screw and and adjustable accelerator pump, 175 main jet. don't now exactly the pilot, bigger ofcourse. Made a 2014 kx450 mx exhaust fit. use this on the mx track. Use a self modified kx250mx damper and standard klx header for offroad. It passas the sound test with ease. Never have to use the hot start button, always start when hot. Had suspension set up for mx. For offroad i just open up the clickers. 2010 KX450 triple clamps, the original broke in a crash. wide footpegs. Have all the lights connected with water tight connectors, so easy installing for offroad and take off for mx. Change piston every 75hr, VERTEX piston. Bike has nearly 200hrs on it, still the same big end, valves are still fine. Run kx450 fuel tank for mx and large arcebis tank for offroad. 15mm higher kx450 foam seat. recluse auto clutch for offroad. Again the KLX is a great bike for offroad and yes, a little heavy for mx.
With little money at the right spot these bike is a killer, you can convert it to a very serious and dangerous bike, but and extra money to be spent and it is mandatory like suspension works, not easy to start with this bike to properlly fine tune if you are heavy rider, nowaday this bike is capable to race with good results in a enduro race, odvious in a good hand. Nice all aorund bike that you can keep for years.

Good content, man! 👌

Hello, what was the final pilot jet size.. im having the same problems.
Ended up going up to a 48 pilot jet and 158 main jet.
Needle clip in the second slot from the top and the fuel screw 2 turns out.
Is the speedo run off the battery on this bike?
Hey, yeah its powered by the battery, and the pickup is electronic as well
@MudAndDustMoto ok I thought so, someone told me it would turn on due to the magnet by the front tire but my batteries dead so it doesn't work.
My header pipe glows red! After iddeling a minute? Should i be worried
Yeah its probably running very lean, get a richer pilot jet and adjust the fuel screw accordingly.
Check the valve cleareance,
The valve clearance was ok, the bike ran fine one i reverted to the stock jetting.
Thanks for commenting🤙🏼
