Fun technique! I think I'd probably blot the excess spray with a piece of watercolor paper (perhaps with a heat embossed clear image stamped on it).
That’s a great idea too Candy!! 👍❤️
Agreed
I agree. I have a box of kitchen paper that I use for mopping up. I try to keep the sheets in different colour groups so I don't end up with mud. Once the sheet is fully covered, it goes in a pizza box for storage. You can pull the plies appart and get double for your money that way. This makes fabulous collage fodder. I do the same with sheets of kitchen paper that go in the bottom of my splat box. I use this cardboard box for spraying so the spray doesn't cover my entire studio! Once the papers are "matured" and nicely covered, they get saved. You can get some interesting masking effects on the papers when you spray die-cuts. The spray soaks through and colours the layers underneath.
Wow super creative idea!
😮... never seen this before ... Looks great..thanks!
This is different and gives a great effect on the cardstock. Not knowing how each attempt is going to turn out will add to the fun! I don't have cotton wool in the house any more as I simply don't have a use for it. I also don't have nails like yours and cringe at the thought of trying to remove the cotton wool. Nevertheless, that does not take away the fun of watching something different evolve. Thanks, Lou :-)
I'm going to try it using the cotton from the top of a vitamin bottle.
Way cool, awesome technique
Oh my gosh I love this!! So fun. You are so clever Lou!! Great job 👍❤️
This is great. Love the effect. You could also use gauze, or plasterer's scrim (I use a lot of this in my mixed media art) - in fact anything fibrous and fine that will stick to the embossing. I also have a box where I save my sewing and embroidery thread scraps, including bits of gold. These would work well, I think.
What an interesting technique. Thanks so much for sharing. You always give us so many different ways to expand our crafting abilities. Love that. Will give it a try.😊❤
Wow what an awesome, unique technique. Beautiful!! Just discovered your channel and I am now subscribed!
Cool technique ❤️
After watching your video, I tried this but used adhesive sheets! It worked great and no burned fingers!
You are awesome 👌 🎉😂
Very interesting.
Im definitely going to try this! Thanks!
This is so brilliant 👍🏻
So pretty. Can’t wait to try it out.
Oh my. My mind exploded with ideas for things I have like reinkers and mica sprays I made. Such fun!
Great new idea! I wonder how many more are still to be discovered👍
❤this is different for me
Love them ,got to try .
Wow! What a novella idea!!
What a fun technique. Am going to give this a try. The 1st one you did definitely reminded me of abstract purple roses. Thank you Lou x
A really fun technique! Thanks for sharing it with us Lou!
What a fun card. I would never have thought of doing this.
Thanks so much for sharing this new technique that I’ve never seen before.❤❤❤
Very interesting Lou, thank you
Interesting! I've never seen this technique but it certainly gives a beautiful effect. Thanks for this idea!
I love your technique. Very effective. I like your new crafting word INKonsistant! Thank you for a great video. - Dawn 🌅
What a fun idea, Lou. Jotted this technique down for future play.
Fun, thanks Lou!
What a great idea Lou, love this idea. As you said, j ust make sure it’s 100% cotton and doesn’t have any polyester or other synthetic fibers which could melt with the heat gun as well as not soak in the color.
What a fun technique! I can't wait to try it. This is my first visit to your channel, I'm so glad I stopped by. I can't wait to see what else I can learn from you. Thank you for sharing😊
O man that looks super fun! Gonna try this after work today! Thanks soooooo much for sharing this video
Wow that's really different and looks like fun. Thanks Lou and have a great day x
Great technique to try.
So clever! What a fun idea! Cheers
Love your technique. Great alternative to alcohol ink and pouncing, AND nice to catch up with you again since C&C days.
This is so cool. Hope to try this technique soon. Thanks.
Loving this technique, I'm never going to get any work done, but thanks Lou 😊
How fun!!! I cannot wait to try this!!! ❤❤❤❤
Oh Lou, this is different, doing the adhering of cotton balls to melting embossing powder. I have thought about sprinkling my tiny stars & bits of fine threads in the past but didn't do it. Now, I think I shall experiment & see what I can create! Very interesting and tactile fun! 🙏🥰🦘🦘🦘
Hello!
What a funny, nice & simple idea! Will try it 4 sure!😉🫶 Thanks 4 sharing 🙏 🌸🦄🌸
This is wonderful! If using watercolor paint, I wonder if brushing it on randomly on purpose might give a nice look. I’ll try. But I also have liquid watercolors so could try with pipettes or eye dropper or put into a spray bottle.
Fun stuff. Tfs ❤😊
Wow! This will be fun! Great look! Thank you.
Eine sehr interessante Technik, mit wunderschönen Ergebnissen.
Liebe Grüße aus Österreich ❤🐞
brilliant! thank you for giving me new ideas with this amazing technique. i love it!
This I have to try! It looks really cool! Thanks for the inspiration Lou!😃
Love texture (see what I did there?) On cards. This is a great idea! Lucy Patrick just did tinsel and ribbon and that's really pretty for Christmas too. Such wonderful inspiration! Thank you!
Love both results, but thank you for the black cardstock. It was much easier to see the melting and your additions of the cotton wool. 🎉
What a great idea! Something to try at home for sure
Lovely technique and card xx
Love how you inspire me❤
Awesome fun technique. Thank you!❤
Never seen this, love it. Thanks lou😊
Thanks so much for the video, this looks like fun! I love playing with both sprays and embossing powder, I suspect this will be a new favorite technique.
LOVE this Lou! TFS!
Great idea Lou, I think I'll definitely be giving this technique a play!🥰
Fabulous technique! I can’t wait to try it!
love it thankyou so much ❤
Wow Lou that's amazing, what a clever idea. I love it and will be making my own backgrounds now x
Love the technique. TFS
This is fantastic! How did you think of it? I like the light colored card the best.
You could flip the paper over and reheat it from the back before you press it in the mat for more even adhesion.
I love the striped ones at the end. The double sided adhesive has lots of possibilities.
I would try tapping with another paper stock and get 2 different cards?
That’s a great idea! Love it! Does it have to be cotton or would a poly stuffing work? Also what would be the best way to apply watercolour ?
Two for one if you placed another over to soak up excess
I'm a little confused. Can cotton balls be used?
Very different
What is cotton wool?
Hi Lou, is the paper regular cardstock or water color paper?
Just regular cardstock but watercolour would also work x
Lovely technique but I couldn’t do it, my teeth are watering just listening to you doing it! 😂😂
The audio is low. I had to turn on CC.
I can’t quite understand what kind of cotton you are saying. At first I thought you were saying cotton ball but then I thought you might be saying cotton wool???? I don’t have any idea what cotton wool is. Is it cotton and wool mixed? Does it matter how much cotton and how much wool? I liked the result and would like to try it.
Hi Barbara, do you. It have cotton wool where you are? It’s extremely common here. Its very thin stands of cotton formed into balls or sheets or on small sticks as buds. Usually found in the baby or skincare aisle at the shops as it’s gentle to use with cleansing products.
@@LouCollins no, I’m from the US and that sounds like what we call yarn. It usually come in a ball that is called a skien. It can be cotton, polyester, wool (actual wool), etc but not cotton wool since cotton is from grown cotton and wool is from an animal like a sheep. Thank you for answering me. Are you in the UK?
On this side of the ocean it can be called cotton batting (but not for quilts) or absorbent cotton. Used in first aid.
In the US it is cotton balls.
