this is perfect! just today I was thinking about purchasing a full-sized for video editing but saw there nobody was modding the K10, so thanks for the video!
Thank you as well!
beautiful video -really well made and edited -I especially loved the part with the close-ups and the birds chirping in the backround, and the final modification typing asmr with the microphone right in front of the keyboard*I would have loved a comparison with the same microphone position of the keyboard as it first was, just to compare*all in all, excellent work!
I ordered my K10 for work today. I use the ducky mini 3 with box whites for home and wanted something to make the other people in my office to hate me lol. I ordered my GF the C2 and planned on modding it but it was a pain to try an take apart so I just installed box jades into hers. I ordered box navy’s for mine an plan on doing the tape an foam mod. You’re the only video I’ve found that actually shows a tear down of the K10 so props man!
This was so satisfying to watch and omg all the editing work......makes me wanna never complain about lubing switches ever again lol. Great job all around keyboard looks dope!!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it. :)
Incredibly well produced video! Loved it,keyboard sounded great.
Great work on the video edit. So much work to put that all together but it came together so well. I really enjoyed it.
Getting a good quality switch puller will help the process along tremendously. I got the glorious switch puller from Amazon and it makes quick work because it is so sturdy. Great job on the mod
Indeed. I am so gonna buy a better one soon. Thank you, and I'm glad you like my work!
Thank you for this, I just bought this keyboard and switches and will be doing this exact mod today!
I came from a membrane keyboard to the K8 version of this keyboard. I wanted the brown or red switches since they are quiet, however the only ones in-stock was with the Gateron blue switches. I do not like the clicky noise. It's so loud when trying to study in the evenings.
Anyway, my actual point is that the blue switches are super light compared to the Logitec membrane keyboard I had. This takes some getting used to, since just the slightest brush against the keys activates it. I might opt for a heavier spring for my Milky Yellow Switches I have on order. This is also my first Mechanical Keyboard, which I guess makes this an interesting adventure in the world of custom keyboards.
Great vid, I think I'm going to retire my Logitech and get the K10 keyboard.
You won't regret it. I had an ergonomic split Amazon brand of the Logitech. Thought I couldn't like a kb more than that. Man I was wrong. I'll never go back to stock membrane kb's again. I also really wanted a full size for my first adventure into the mechanical works to lessen the shock. I think I'm going to go to a 75% for my travel kb next.
I love the added magnets.
cool video mna.. getting one of these keyboards soon and excited to try some basic mods.
Keyboard looks amazing, really great video!
Thank you! :)
Great job. I'm really thankful you made this video because I also just did my first mod on my K10. It was so easy to follow everything you did.
P.S. I don't think it was you. The switches are really tough to pull on this board. I'm getting a new switch puller for sure after this!
Great video, currently using the same keyboard with the Geteron browns, pretty happy with the stock switches, I ended up getting better keycaps. I wanna try the tape mod but and see if it makes a difference :)
What kind of key caps did you upgrade too? I just got this keyboard love the switched but I want different caps
thanks for video, part of teardown help me alot.
I thought the plastic cover part was just a flat plate like acrylic plate, but it's not.
omg thanks for this video!!! i got a k10 recently, only replace the switch and keycap.... wanted to do tape mod but not sure how this kb is different to the smaller kb. thanks for this video tho!
Thank you! I appreciate it. :)
I just bought one! I'm so excited to get it
What does the tape really do for the keyboard ?
I prefer stock, looks a lot better imo. Whatever works for you
Awesome video! You inspired me to do the same! Just lubed some new Akko switches (v3 Cream yellow)! Going to follow this video!
Question though, what size screws did you use to get off the 4 screws holding the aluminum frame on the sides? Everything I have at home is too big! Won't be able to get started without it :(
Lovely video and great mods too
Thank you! Glad you like it. :)
Very cool video.
Salamat from Switzerland!
My left ear really enjoyed this
Love the build! How do you like the K10 1 year in? No fire from tape mod? 😮
I had already written the K10 off my shopping list because of the abysmal spacebar sound - now I have to rethink, if I wait for a future Q6 pro and some proper south-lit shine through caps or mod a K10....hmmm
Well done video. Nice step by step time lapse style. . Cheers.
Very nice video work! Well done!
Made me smile.
The mic close to the keyboard picks up more of the sound throught eh wood of the desk than it does the key clicks.
Great video. I like your keyboard very much!
What is the point of taping the PCB, I don't get it?
Love it!
Sir can I get a link where you bought your screwdriver? I needed it to open mine. Thank you
Oh, I know!Pleae make an hour or so of asmr video typing with this keyboard and he microphone placed like this for best sound experience (like in this one) while also having a piano relaxing music playing in the background (whch you have recorded playing yourself beforehand 😁
You, sir, are a master
what do you think about the wireless issue people mentioned in amazon?
Well, I haven't encountered any issues with my unit so far. Still a happy K10 owner here. :)
I own one too, the Bluetooth isn't exactly an issue, just very user unfriendly to use but once you get the hang of it the connection is rock solid
Those issues can be fixed by a factory reset via keyboard shortcut Fn+J+Z held 4 seconds or, with dongle bluetooth adapters, moving the adapter.
I feel like it sounded better stock. I also feel like your spacebar is so much lower than the other keys.
I suppose the sound difference has something to do with the spacebar being wood and all.
As for the sound, well to each their own. :)
nice video, I just got the K10 myself. I noticed you didn't add any foam to the base, did you think it was not needed?
As I'm still quite new to this hobby, I decided not to place any to see how it'll sound/feel like.
@@dom_does I'm still fairly new too! I'm actually thinking of using the sheet of foam that came in the box for this.
@@leechomin foam works great for tactiles and linears. Clickies usually sound better without it.
Hi, I'm new to Mechanic Keyboard, why you need to do this?
Should’ve installed some foam to the bottom before reassembling the keyboard 👀
As I'm not that particular/sensitive with keyboard sounds, placing foam inside didn't seem like a critical part of the process for me.
I like the blue switches the best!
Hi just wanna ask if any brand of keycaps can actually fit into a k10 (brown switch, white backlight)? Thanks! I want to build a coffee themed k10 lol but I don't like the ones that keychron brand has. Thank you! Notice me senpai!~
I suppose it would be safe to say that any brand of keycaps can fit into it; I'm looking at one of my SA keycaps right now and (for me, at least) this is the largest/tallest keycap set I've even seen.
Of course I'd also assume that modern MX-style keycaps these days should have a uniform length/width measurement so I'd say you'd be safe to try out any keycap set out there without any risk of them not fitting to your keyboard.
Do bear in mind though that the K10 has north-facing LEDs, and I read somewhere that Cherry profile keycaps may not be compatible with it due to its low-profile keycaps hitting the top parts of the switches.
If you have the money for it, I'd recommend getting the SA Espresso keycaps. :)
Nice. But sadly, now keys not glowing
Beautiful
how is bro making it look so difficult? im 10 and i have made 15 boards! also, i will literally buy you a better switch puller if you dont have one already.
Whats the purpose of the tape?
To dampen the sound caused by the keyboard's moving parts... or so I've been told at the least. Haha
guess that makes 2 of us
bro made it sound worse
