    Hopefully EPCOT gets these non-face projection animatronics sometime in the future. Projected eyes I am pretty fine with but with humanoid faces these physical animatronics just look so much nicer overall.

      The maintenance on the projected faces at Epcot are a lot more difficult than on these animatronic figures. Eventually, I am sure the update will make its way to Epcot.

      I had heard from someone that they recently (as in the last few months) done an update to the facial mapping to make them look better, which to me they did, but that has also led to a ton of problems with the animatronics which has been causing the increase in downtime lately.@@MiceChat

      I think i heard that these versions will be used in Paris too.I think its just a matter of time before they copy and paste this over to Epcot too now that the initial costs have been spent elsewhere to create them.

    Thanks for the quick upload!!! The animatronics are simply incredible and not just Elsa. However I am really surprised that they basical!y used the same track layout and scenes from the Epcot ride. In Norway they had to transform TBE existing layout from the ride before. Here they could have built anything. If not for the animatronics I would have been disappointed.

      It’s about a minute and a half longer than the EPCOT version, and uses boats with a much higher capacity. It’s a much more efficient ride in Hong Kong.

    Weird adaptation of the Epcot ride. For one, why did they do the finale castle scene when... the castle is physically built right outside the ride lol. Pacing is off and awkward too many times, esp at the scene transitions. They should've just created an entirely new ride tbh. But those animatronics are incredible.

    • @modelworksajt1301
      @modelworksajt1301 10 месяцев назад +8

      Exactly what I was thinking. They had to shove the ride into the existing space at Epcot and did a fine job but they had an opportunity to create a more immersive version in Hong Kong but just took what they had make off the shelf from Epcot. I guess it was cheaper and already to go for them.

    People keep slamming Epcots version of this ride for some silly reasons. Just a few points to remember. Epcot’s came first. Nearly 10 years ago. Not only that, but it was adapted from another attraction, so they were limited in some ways as the ride space was already in existence. The one in Hong Kong was built. The fact that the HK version is nearly identical to the one at Epcot speaks volumes to the ingenuity of Epcot’s redo of Maelstrom.
    Some of y’all are just too critical. Disney use to be fun, anymore it’s like a cult.

    • @MiceChat
      @MiceChat  10 месяцев назад +2

      I spoke with the Imagineers about this. At the time the EPCOT ride was built, the projected faces were a new technology and everyone was excited to be able to animate full expressions. But over time they found it was difficult to maintain and didn't always look great to guests. Meanwhile, newer electronic animatronic face technology allows for an even more realistic experience. Eventually, Epcot will likely get the new character heads.

The village is nice but it's just an oversized diorama. I did like the mist. I expect much more wow from Disney. Take it to the next level....then level up again...that's where they should be at the very least.
