    this got recommended to me and I was very confused as to why someone would want to start collecting Italians and how they would go about this
    so, naturally, I decided to watch
    imagine my surprise when he meant figures, not actual Italians

    Great video. Victrix Austrian Grenzer can be used as the Italian Dalmatian/Istrian infantry at a push. If you're doing the mid war then swap their heads for French shakos.

    Great programme. I love maxing figures. I plan to mix up my Italian army with some (emigres) from the Kingdom of Naples, well they are all Italian.... I relaise this is not for the purists but the Neopolitan army has some outlandishly wicked figures and uniforms. I would appreciate a programme on the basics of tools and paints to get started as I am getting back into the era and have a lot of figures to prep and paint. I would really, really appreciate a "pin-along" as I have 100+ figures to pin Czapkas on. There are some videos on this but they are not specifically for Napoleonics and I like your stye of explanation, many thanks again for your time, especially over a bank holiday weekend. Much appreciated and enjoyed. Cheers, Nick.

      Ha! Well, it's a start! 😂
      They were a fairly full army, with a guard (2 battalions of infantry as taked about in the vid) and a regiment of elite dragoons. They had regular dragoons, chasseur a cheval. Line infantry and light infantry as well as the standard artillery. You can also add some fun units like the national guard of venice...I mean, I'm not saying that I'd have halberd wielding Papal Swiss Guard for a bit of fun...but I'm not saying I wouldnt... 😂

    Did you ever nail down WHY you do foot battalions of 24 and cavalry of 8? Or is it just a case of "my group does this, because my group does this"?
    Also, that finagling with Perry deals feels a bit familiar :p (then again, I highly doubt that I am the only one who's done the math on that). But you probably need to stop making these videos, I keep trying to run off in different directions :p

    • @NapoleonicWargaming
      @NapoleonicWargaming  3 года назад +1

      The reason is 2 fold. The first on is that it gives a ratio of 1:33 which is, admittedly, a rather old fashioned way of doing it, but still popular.
      Second , and more pertinent, is that the series started off with the Waterloo Starter Set which is very much set up to have 24 figure units. Hope that helps!
      Ps, I want to do Italians now too! 😂

    Las tropas italianas de los reinos de Italia y de Napoles siempre fueron una parte importante de los ejércitos de Napoleon. No eran tampoco tropas excepcionales en calidad y disciplina como por ejemplo eran las tropas aliadas de Francia de origen alemán como( babiera sajonia westfalia badén Berg etc.) Por citar algunos ejemplos.las tropas Napolitanas tenían fama de malhechores delincuentes y bandidos y poca disciplina propensos a desertar.las del reino de Italia eran algo mejores aunque tampoco eran una maravilla.
