That was a good day out. I listened as you justified a use for some of the items,.I just had to chuckle. My garage is filled with justification. All my stuff i picked up sure comes in handy alright, too handy,.as i handle the stuff all the time moving it around relocating the stuff from one part of the garage to the other.
Great video. I go street scrapping as well but I scrap on my BIKE. I do manage to hoard a surprising amount of mostly heavy gauge cable. But I take other metals too, copper piping, lead, small lead acid batteries and of course, brass. My brass collection more than pays for my 'man with a van' once every 3 months to take my scrap to the scrap yard.
Going a good distance like this scrap trip be good to have a little trailer to really make it worth while and maybe use it mainly for steel and put all the rest in the van.
eWaste Ben 😄👍💪If you would stack and sort the scrap better in your truck and throw the cut cables straight onto your passenger seat, then you would get more scrap on your loading area than all the things you threw at each other
Love the little adventures. It's not like that here in Newfoundland. Either the b'ys throws it out, it hangs out in the attic/basement or where ever they can fit it or its picked up long before you can get there. That said, I still attempt to get what I can and do this as a hobby. Keep the videos coming!
Love the videos ben. I just started scrapping the tvs. Unfortunately we dont have the large junk days here anymore so i have to go online to find things
It’s important to remember that we are all humans. It only takes a second to exchange pleasantries and everyone walks away feeling a bit better about the situation.
Those microwave ovens usually have a fault in them that is why they are thrown out. Panasonic ovens usually won't heat up the food enough, faulty magnetron. Sharp ovens have faulty displays on the controller. When I pick these ovens up I have a go to fix them.
mayby they are lazy to clean those :) Ben i have ask if you please make a video to comparison to normal and inventer microwawe. i just bought to inventer micro and i wonder to difference of those ones. thanks for great videos and good hunting .. Sami from finland
They are very expensive here. But probably in Australia, by the time you break the plate, you buy a new one. I mean, no one is seeking for spares anyways.
I'd like to see a video of you breaking all that down in to the state you will sell it on as.. i wonder how long that takes? Will you completely strip everything? Or will you cherry pick items to part? and sell the rest as shred steal?
I scrap out anything worth more then scrap steel then send the rest to the scrap yard unless there's things I want to keep for other uses. scrapping things does take time but I usually do things in batches like all tv's, all microwaves etc, small electronics are put in a wheelie bin for casual scrapping when I don't want to do heavy work, just fiddle with bits.
Does this happen in all of Australia twice a year? That must be tons of scrap resources that can be taken out of land fills and re-used from thousands upon thousands of house holds.
Check out the RUclips channel "Adventures With Wild Warrior Bill" also from Australia. He does the landfill rubbish diving, just before they bury it with soil. He finds tonnes of good stuff.
"People sensitive to their own rubbish" i have a story : when i was on scrapping trip i saw washer so i decided to take out it's engine (crowbar is handy here after all unscrewing) suddenly out of nowhere some old man came to me with hands rised and yelled at me "What are you doing! do you have permission?!" moment ago his son said that it's ok if some of his stuff will be usefull for me. Sometimes people look at me as if i was alien :D sadly in my country scrapping is not popular among non-homeless people and "trash is dirty" in every form.
Hey Ben, very random question but i am in NSW and have a passion for electronics and taking things apart and building things from them, anyways i thought i may aswell ask if you are thinking of hiring people to sort scrap or dismantle bulk lots . also keep the microwave plates if you can, they can be expensive, you could definitely sell one on FB/GUMTREE form $5.. Great video as always
Im Unique tvs you get a small copper yolk and a degausing cable %50 of the time but are mostly plastic and glass which cost money in australia to get recycled, microwaves u can take the copper transformer and then sell the whole microwave on to the scrapyard as shreddable steal.. so basically they both have a good copper amount usually but tvs are expensive to get recycled..
There's more value in microwave ovens because its way easier to recycle everything. Tv's have leaded glass in them, usually cost alot to recycle, they're bulky, and unless you can recycle the tv for free after you stipped it or if you can sell it whole, its a hassle.
Yeah it's mostly because I need to take tv's to the recycling centre, it's free to drop of tv's but it takes time and they don't like too many tv's from one person, so i'm happy to take a bunch, get the copper and send them off but not too many, they also take up a lot of valuable space in the van. Microwaves are different because not only is there copper and I can sell the shell as steel, I can also fill them up with small bits & pieces, very handy and for the same space, I can get them weighing a lot.
😲🚥🚥🚥👁🗨💬👁🗨HARD RUBBISH MONTH :) TRASH TREASURE DAY LOL 🐹🎡👨👨👧👦🔊📲 i find a lot cool stuff Pcs If it ain't DDR3 leave it i5-cores (Y) & elect :) cant carry a lot on a push 🚲

I really like it when you do your street scrapping!!! All that cool stuff you find!!!!A friend in the USA from Pennsylvania Robin Jo
End of my working day, sit down 'bucket' of tea and watch Ben having fun...love it.
Watching your stuff is fun, the jokes and looks and picks are what I would do. keep going

This is so raw. I'm a fan.
Thanks!
wow if this was in the US it would be gone within min.
you should get an ewaste decal for your van so people don't think your crazy.
Going a good distance like this scrap trip be good to have a little trailer to really make it worth while and maybe use it mainly for steel and put all the rest in the van.

Great videos
eWaste Ben 😄👍💪If you would stack and sort the scrap better in your truck and throw the cut cables straight onto your passenger seat, then you would get more scrap on your loading area than all the things you threw at each other
You need a trailer and a roof-rack ;)

YAAAY! Even more of this!!
25:14 I saw you sneak those remotes into that box 😎
Blue toolbox missed and i use the water hose winders for winding my electric cords on ,keeps them tidy.
It’s important to remember that we are all humans. It only takes a second to exchange pleasantries and everyone walks away feeling a bit better about the situation.
get yourself a tubing cutter or battery operated sawzall for your long pipes mate
Those oil heaters are good money Im sure , because they weight a ton
you found a laptop too this week like me, cool!
I love this stuff 😁👍
Still alot of old school T.V. s and monitors out there . But what do you do with the glass??? No body seems to want it , even cleaned ??
24:45 what is all that blue plastic tubing in front of all of the driveways?
It's for water, they do that when they change the water mains pipe so houses still get water until they finish
That Canard 25:25 is talking to you Ben ! Listen to Nature ! Qwack Qwack Qwack = Cheers Cheers Cheers !
Just a hint, those glass microwave trays sell well on eBay. People break them all the time.
4:18 the scissors are just begging for bub to take them. The wanted to cut some cords so badly.
Those microwave ovens usually have a fault in them that is why they are thrown out. Panasonic ovens usually won't heat up the food enough, faulty magnetron. Sharp ovens have faulty displays on the controller. When I pick these ovens up I have a go to fix them.
Mind-boggling how many people throw out microwaves! Ours has been going for 10+ years and works fine...
Mine too, I think ours is like 20 years old
mayby they are lazy to clean those :) Ben i have ask if you please make a video to comparison to normal and inventer microwawe. i just bought to inventer micro and i wonder to difference of those ones. thanks for great videos and good hunting .. Sami from finland
Time for a trailer ben
Why you don't take all TV's had lot of copper!
Microwave Oven Glass Plates sell on e-bay for $14
They are very expensive here. But probably in Australia, by the time you break the plate, you buy a new one. I mean, no one is seeking for spares anyways.

You need a compass, so at least you know which direction you are going in, maybe.
You could do with a roofrack ben
30 ft pipes make a pergola or a bushhouse
12:05 those plastic tables cost $60 or so new. Maybe it was completely broken.
What an amazing day guess you wish you had packed better so you could get more ...... laugh
Does this happen in all of Australia twice a year? That must be tons of scrap resources that can be taken out of land fills and re-used from thousands upon thousands of house holds.
mostly once per year but every area is different, some no longer have this type of thing, it's booked pickup only

LOOKS GREAT ... THIS VIDEO ...! NICE ....!
Also the garbage truck was there picking up the roadside :(
Yeah that happens, you just gotta go one street ahead of them and pick like crazy before they get there
My Dad was offended by you calling the land rover a jeep there were only 2500 of those ones made. (My dad hates jeeps and owns a landrover.)
you have some loud birds down under
how much are you getting for steel atm?
Hey Ben, very random question but i am in NSW and have a passion for electronics and taking things apart and building things from them, anyways i thought i may aswell ask if you are thinking of hiring people to sort scrap or dismantle bulk lots .

Great video as always
No I just scrap stuff out myself, it's not really worth paying someone to do it, they're best off going out and finding scrap themselves.
You passed up the oil heater
Question why do u take microwaves but not tv's?

yah but you could just throw it away instead of recycling it once youve taken the guts
There's more value in microwave ovens because its way easier to recycle everything. Tv's have leaded glass in them, usually cost alot to recycle, they're bulky, and unless you can recycle the tv for free after you stipped it or if you can sell it whole, its a hassle.
yes but you can still just throw the carcass away after you gut it i mean it was going in the dump anyways
Yeah it's mostly because I need to take tv's to the recycling centre, it's free to drop of tv's but it takes time and they don't like too many tv's from one person, so i'm happy to take a bunch, get the copper and send them off but not too many, they also take up a lot of valuable space in the van.
