That story was absolutely incredible and full of metaphors! It seems she was having a crisis of self the whole time because her becoming a nun was supposed to be her new life but her trauma followed her despite her efforts and it broke her. I also love how it slowly unpacked her trauma and represented them all visually.
Fun fact, actually the text from 47:18 is later explained from 50:21 to 50:50 In this story, a younger son asks his father for his inheritance early, then squanders it in reckless living. When he returns home repentant, the father celebrates his return. The older son, however, becomes resentful, feeling he's been unfairly treated. In verse 32, the father responds to the older son's bitterness, saying, "But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." It's a powerful story about forgiveness, redemption, and the boundless love of God. I love when games introduces some real facts, even if I'm not a person of faith.
This game was a mind trip! Oh my gosh! How eloquently did it integrate retro with modern, not to mention the narration and puzzle aspects. I loved this so. Thank you for playing such an awesome game! 😃
The only thing about the points that you seem to have left/missed out is that their only purpose was to make you get more points.. You get points to level up so you can get even more points to level up more in a "pointless" pursuit. The metaphor here is about faith itself, you pursue faith only to try and "get" more faithful, with no real accomplishment! The final straw was the artifact at the end, your last beacon of hope/faith. as long as you belived that points(faith) had meaning you'd keep shaking and getting more and more, but as soon as you realise that it's uselesness and stop you are finally freed from your demons, since they were forced upon you by life/circunstances. The wolhe game is a metaphor for belief and free will She is the nun questioning her faith, while he is the criminal headstrong in his belief.. Both sides os both coins mixed around.
I think at the end when she finds out its hallow, shes realizing that despite believing in this religion, its nothing more than just belief. None of it is real and none of it can fix the trauma shes endoured.
That game, was not a game. Kind of insane. Hope these developers keep making these experiences. I would argue, this is true horror, because there are people living with experiences similar to Indika. That whole pixel segment of the game was so well done.

The devs are a Russian studio that fled to Kazakhstan to avoid being forced to take part in the war in Ukraine.
It might be because I can sort of relate to Indika a lot but this game turned out to be one of my favorites out of all the horror games I've seen you play. Plus it was incredibly clever in its execution!!

The points system is a metaphor for how people think Christianity and probably any religion works where you need to do certain things to get points to get the reward at the end. Also, I don't think this is really an attack on Christianity or religion in general but maybe a commentary on the Russian Orthodox Church specifically and those kind of religions, so even though the ending made it seem like it was all an empty lie/scam, I think it's more about if you play life for points to trade in for a neat prize in the end you're probably going to be disappointed. Also, the argument about what is free will is a pretty old argument. What is free will when choices are always leveraged to one side because of circumstances so do we even have free will but then on the flip side you can always choose to do the "wrong" thing despite the consequences and you usually only feel guilty when you think you chose the wrong thing because it caused suffering. This is kinda crazy because you don't have a saved game to load before you made the choice to see what the other choice would have done so how can you punish yourself for not being able choose perfectly. I guess everything is predetermined and the whole universe was set in motion and you and your actions are just the result of one thing leading to another but free will is the freedom to just not believe in it (fate) and to just blindly believe that you have free will despite logic saying otherwise.

@@shotya9403 Sorry, English is not my mother tounge. I meant basically exactly what you mean. I have nothing against the church. It's a cult created by people in need for peope in need and i respect that fully. It's about community and helping each other and that is also really really good! What i meant was like the priest for instant. He tettle taled instantly, which a good priest just shouldn't do. In this whole game the church was portrait as evil. It was portrait, that without this evil, she would have not grown into what she. is today. Whitout Evil no Good. Also Nuns houses/homes are terrifying. They are basically a military camp with extra steps. It's weird thing, that shouldn't be allowed to exist anymore. Idk if this cleared anthing up haha sorry for my bad english and thanks for answering in the first place :)
I think believing that a priest shouldn’t “tattle” on people is in line with the kind of beliefs that Indika and Ilya had about the magic healing properties of church items. As for what the story is about, I think it’s important to also consider how the flashbacks to Indika’s past shows us that what Indika was going through with Ilya was just a repeat of her past mistakes. She fell for a “charming” rogue in her youth who repeatedly stole bikes from her father’s shop, she slept with him on impulse even though she knew she had an arranged marriage, complied with his request to steal money from her own father, and denied knowing him in the end because she wanted to avoid the consequences of her decisions (and may have felt that him getting shot afterward was due to her own actions, though who knows if her father would have shot him regardless of what her answer was). She blindly believed in both that guy and Ilya, because she did not want to accept the dreary and unfortunate life she was currently living, and those decisions led her down a worse path. And the devil that had plagued her throughout the game finally disappeared, after she wished it wouldn’t; because she would have to accept the reality that a devil didn’t lead her astray, and that no miracle would happen to save her from her own decisions. If she had just delivered the letter as she was tasked to, although she would have been embarrassed, she would have probably been in a better spot at least than what she ended up at at the end of the game.
The AI joke is a reference to how one way you can spot AI generated pictures is that sometimes they erroneously add an extra hand. Chat/insym was joking that the three handed Mary was also AI generated.

Hyper Realistic Horror Game -Realistic? Giant wolves and massive fish/caviar -Horror? Sleep through it, the pacing, the "mini" parts ruin any horror element that faintly was there. -Game? More like an interactive story (?) Insym, my dude i feel like i watched 3 hours of content that wasnt what i was lead to believe will be. But either way - Insym content is always enjoyable - The "game" has massive attention to detail - Touching on a sensitive topic regarding religion and people's personal relationship to it, in a way thats not avoiding hard hiting questions while respecting it. Writers did hell of a good job in proposing the problem, but not providing a solution, because there is none because the answer is you, you are to define what matters to you, for someone its the "points to heaven" and some people work purely by reaction and instict. Overall good experience but i feel mislead by the title >:(
yeah no I've seen other content creators classify this as horror, and even "interactive story" games are.... games. basically any interactive story can be classed as a type of game if it's got external inputs, even old text-based choice/exploration games ARE GAMES.
Not scaring you doesn't mean it's not horror. It's an incredibly dark story about someone's mental health struggles, their crisis of faith, how they literally see themselves as being possessed by a demon. This classifies it as "horror" / "dark" / whatever you want to call something like this. The realistic part is only relating to the graphics. It has incredible graphics, faces, voice acting, environments. Obviously the story is massively abstract and surreal but the game looks realistic. Obviously it's a game. As I explained in the end this game uses what you know about games and scoring systems to tell you a dark story about how the main characters crisis of faith left her feeling like everything was hollow (this is a huge simplification of course). There are machine puzzles, collectibles, clever praying horror sections, the pixel mini games, etc. Etc. Any argument to the contrary is very pedantic imo but you are of course entitled to your own opinion!
@@Insym Well thanks for answering, you are entitled to your opinion as much as i am. Either way we both agree that this was an experience which the writers put a lot of time and effort into and overall a good experience. I want you to understand that the title could be interpreted as any other horror game thats different than this. See the bodycam game Silent Breath where you named a video similiarly "This Hyper Realistic Horror Game is Actually Good - Silent Breath" I think these two are widly different experiences yet the titles convey the same tone.
Yeah they are very different games. That's always going to be the problem with RUclips titles. A game like this is so meaningful I personally feel like many would want to watch it and would be moved by it. But you gotta put that all in the best possible title to get people through the door into that experience.

Insym, my dude i feel like i watched 3 hours of content that wasnt what i was lead to believe will be.
But either way
- Insym content is always enjoyable
- The "game" has massive attention to detail
- Touching on a sensitive topic regarding religion and people's personal relationship to it, in a way thats not avoiding hard hiting questions while respecting it.
@@Invalidationcoded Well its not horror thats for sure, for calling it a game i give it a pass cuz thats subjective, but horror? come on!
See the bodycam game Silent Breath
where you named a video similiarly "This Hyper Realistic Horror Game is Actually Good - Silent Breath"
I think these two are widly different experiences yet the titles convey the same tone.
Yeah they are very different games. That's always going to be the problem with RUclips titles. A game like this is so meaningful I personally feel like many would want to watch it and would be moved by it. But you gotta put that all in the best possible title to get people through the door into that experience.
I heard they're already working on the sequel, they're calling it Sativa 🥸
