- Artful San Diego and New York-based punk legends Hot Snakes share members of seminal bands Drive Like Jehu and Rocket From the Crypt but their unifying element is a stunning mastery of tension and release paired with bold, vibrant harmonics and melody. Filming them on stage at historic Hotel Congress for The Home Stretch on KXCI was an exhilarating and electrifying moment. Produced and hosted by Hannah Levin, engineered by Nikhil Ranade, Darrin Wood, and Duncan Hudson. Shot by Julius Schlosburg and Sophie Gibson-Rush and edited by Julius and Hannah.
RIP Rick Froberg, a brilliant artist
RIP Rick and thank you for leaving the world a better place.
how is this band not well known? legit my favorite band
Seriously. Drive Like Jehu before them as well.
Tout à fait d'accord !
I hear you man.
I feel like people that really got into Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes all started bands. Locust, VSS, Heroin and all of those San Diego screamo bands were SUPER influenced by Drive Like Jehu. Similar to what Brian Eno said about Velvet Underground. They didn't sell a ton of records but everyone that did buy their albums started their own band.
R.I.P. Rick 😢
@@dennishockaday8103nd in seattle, unwound, botch, blood brothers, all huge fans….the San Diego scene had an enormous influence up here.
I love watching Jason play drums. His movement is so fluid.
Hot Snakes are the heroes we need right now.
Love this band. They're like if the Wipers had Dez Cadena on vox.
That outro is like so freaking wicked , can't stop like listenin' to this jam and like whatever 🤘
Merk100 amen!!!
Agree with the comments about John's guitar being too low in the mix but I love the interplay between the two guitars are the rhythm section... Filmed at Club Congress in my hometown! 🌵
Rick Froberg looks like my economics teacher.
He's got a food baby
RIP Rick x
Gar Wood is an incredible guitar player - normally playing bass for Hot Snakes. Dig into the albums by Tanner in the 90's - awesome stuff. I was fortunate enough to be a part of that San Diego music scene. Just don't want that band to be forgotten
That’s not Gar Wood
Just so good. That's it. Fn good!!!
Hot Snakes rule!
Downstroke Warlords ripping through space and time!
You're goddamn right.
too bad we can't hear Speedo
Awesome! One of my favorite bands.
Super deadly
Nice! Just stumbled across you guys...
Is there more of this session than just one song? Would love to see the rest… especially with Rick no longer being with us. xx
Great players!
amazing band....probably on of the best in US...yup
RIP Rick 😢
Rick is still the man. RIP
Great stuff! They're the best! Reis is mixed too low!
Agree. But otherwise, great.
It sounded like they didn’t even have a mic on his amp
OH heck yes!!!!
La banda pa wena, me he escuchado esta canción como 20 veces hoy
Wow! Gimme more shock Treatment!!
The last 45 secs....
I didn’t know if these guys until the early 2010’s and I don’t know how they got past me. I’ve met very people who know of them, and I just don’t get why they’re not more well know
where is gar wood?
Forgot his Insulin

I was thinking the same thing. Can’t have Hot Snakes without Gar
Best US Band
long live RIck!
Where is Gar?
He's had to deal with some family troubles unfortunately. He's not "out." Tommy, the gentleman playing bass here, played with John in Night Marchers.
@@inalavalamp dude rips it in TNM
On a gurney, on the slab. He was warned!
Is that Bardo Pond's drummer?
yes and Delta 72
Yeah and Earthless
Is that Gar?
Appropriate lyrics.
Who is on bass here?
Devastating.
il aurait pas du garder son téléphone dans sa poche
C’était durant le sound check le gros. Relaxe ton complexe de supériorité des dispositifs de communication.
Great song, terrible mix. The vocalist guitar is too loud. Just listen to their older videos
It should be standard practice for all musicians to take their smart phones out of their pockets while performing.
Hot Snakes at Club Congress was the last show I saw before the pandemic. They definitely brought the rock. After their set the band hung out on the patio and talked to everyone. I got to ask John Reis a bunch of fanboy questions about Pitchfork. Great guys.
RIP Rick Froberg :(
Release the rest!
They were the best then, they're the best now. Good bet they're the best tomorrow, too, and here's to finding out.
the guitar volumes levels are way off, such a shame.
Just amazing every time. Saw them again in Leeds in December. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's Tommy Kitsos on bass here - not Gar Wood who's credited.
It was. Ended up drinking with Rick and Tommy after the show that night.
Where is Gar?
Me gusta este tema...
Fabulosos....
Does anybody know exactly what happened to Rick?
HOLY SHIT!
