If you're talking about a lap dulcimer then yes. You'll want a lap dulcimer capo to make the tablature work though unless yours has a 1+ fret which you can sub for the 2's

I can't speak for the medieval costume, but I purchased a lute dulcimer from this gent and they're as quality as can be.
