Alot of credit has to go to Laviolette, its not just Laf that has grown and blossomed into a really good player, but we're not blowing games the way we were under Gallant. No defecit feels impossible to come back from which you almost never got with the team under Gallant. That team if it fell behind it stayed behind and sometimes outright just gave up when they didnt have it. We've seen almost none of that this year and thats a big reason why this team was able to win the presidents trophy and set franchise records. Even with the bad stretch in the middle of the season, the team reset after the AS break and went back to its 18-4 pace at the start of the season and held of the canes push for the metro title. Honestly a shame Laviolette isnt a coach of the year finalist because he absolutely deserves it and winning a stanley cup this year would be further proof of that.
I agree with almost everything you say. Laviolette has been a fantastic coach and I think he’s been the perfect fit and best coach we have had in a while. The Jack Adams nominations were a joke beyond Laviolette not being nominated. No torts or Knoblouch is insane.
What i disagree with is that this team was still good at coming from behind under gallant. For the last 3 years, basically since we became competitive, Rangers have been like top 5 or top 3 in comeback wins each of those years. This core has shown they can come from behind, just remember the Pittsburgh series. However, this team has been the best at producing comebacks, but they were still good with that under gallant
@@duckydonne11 No yeah the talent is there to come back, but there were definitely quite too many games were they just didnt even feel like they wanted to try and comeback under Gallant. Just dont see that with Laviolette, even if the result doesnt actually occur the fight is there every single game.

"trade rumors" for a kid that young is ridiculous. You're never gonna get full value when he's at his lowest. It's almost always worth waiting and trying to get him to improve. Like even Kakko, who's not living up the 2nd pick isn't worth trading because he's a nice defensive forward who as long is paid like it and not paid as a "#2 overall pick" is worth keeping because you still need good defensive forwards on the 2nd and 3rd line.

I'll take my L I definitely said it , now I love the guys fire just wish kakko would get some.
Laf is a great kid - kind of a goofy clown like Panarin; they have similar play styles and personalities. I think it took some time for both guys to mature. Together with Vinny Trocheck, they all had career highs in production.
Laf is also physical and a great teammate - really went after Aho for his dirty knee on knee hit early this season on Adam Fox.
it was a good match. I was expecting the Whalers to pull it out, but the Strangers made them earn it. Love seeing Laffy out here making all sorts of movies too.
Lafreniere career so far reminds me of Nathan Mackinnon first 4 season

I Think Rangers will eke game 5 out 4-3 to close the series. A potential FL v NYR ECF will be a lot of fun to watch. Lots of skill players at both ends.

I’m actually glad that he learned the non offensive part of the game before he blossomed. Makes him a much more complete player. He has the vision and creativity to be a top scorer on the team. I predicted that the kids will take another step up during the playoffs and he has not disappointed. Cuylle, Kakko, Schneider, Miller, etc. have been awesome so far.

skinner isn't the oilers problem. a one line offense + a lethal PP is fine in regular season when refs actually call things, in the playoffs, is the issue. (plus skinner and nurse)

Coaching is an exactly the difference. Gallant was afraid to give him top 6 minutes
3 coaches in his first 4 years. Cant blame the kid for his lack of growth at first. Thank you Peter for giving him top 6 minutes instead of checking line minutes with less talent around him.
Great example of what Great coaching can do , galant wasn't a bad coach he just didn't teach and had no patience with players , Laffy will come out OK for us ,you can see the improvement on offense, just needs to clean up defensively, rangers 4 - canes 2 in a must game 5
If carolina was going out, it would have been last game. I think we see game 6, what happens in 6 or 7 is still up for grabs, my gut says carolina pulls through tonight.

MacKinnon, Iginla, the Sedins, are all players who didnt become game breakers until their 5th or 6th seasons. This is only Lafrienere's 4th season in the NHL. He could pop next year.
Reinhart is another that comes to mind. He didn't really reach his potential until his 7th season.

This is a problem formal coach. He didn’t do very well with us. Didn’t really fit in and lost the locker room. Lafayette cares about the team and he fully won the locker room.
