I love that you are a romantic...I love that you are moved by, and appreciate well written lyrics...and mostly, while I am not surprised you concluded that the best relationships are born of friendship, then blossom into romance, I REALLY love that you had that epiphany at such a young age. Really enjoying your content, comments, and authentic reactions. Thank you, Angela.

Great reaction!! Some of the best relationships start off as friends and then blossom into so much more. I couldn't agree more. My first exposure to this song was back in August of 91' sitting in my dorm room. This girl I had met a few weeks prior in orientation stopped by and gave me this album. I really liked her there was just something about her... anyways she said ever hear of this band? I said no.. she smiled with that look and said listen to #9, then walked off down the hall..I sat there threw it in and pushed play. Wow I was mesmerized as I listened to it. I am a romantic myself and man I remember it like it was yesterday, and yes our friendship did blossom into so much more. Some moments/songs like this one are forever etched in your mind.

Absolutely, the best relationships start off as friendships. You build such a strong base and trust, musts for any relationship to last. This is one of my favorites of theirs. Really enjoying your reactions and how you pay attention to and get the lyrics. Some songs are just fun or meant to just get the heart pumpin, the blood flowin and the feet tappin! But there's something about a well written song. It can actually speak to you and bring out emotions you sometimes didn't even know you had. Music is my escape, my happy place and I love discovering new sounds and genres along with rediscovering old songs I haven't heard in forever. Thoroughly enjoying witnessing your journey through music as well, thank you!

David Ward, regret is a dead weight that not only brings you down, but keeps you there. Relish those memories & keep it dear in your heart. It's a special place you can visit time & time again without any strings attached. & if you did do something wrong, or something you should've done but didn't, let it go. Those experiences & feelings it gave can not ever be taken away. Be happy for what the relationship offered, regardless of how short it lasted. Some of the best things in life come in short bursts. Think of your time together & smile & cry in no particular order. You're one of the lucky ones. You acknowledged & realized a good thing in your life. A lot of people, sadly, don't.

I'm so sorry to hear your sad story about a lady that meant so much to you. I fell in love with a girl whom I dated for about 2 months when I was in my early twenties. I know 2 months doesn't sound long but I fell for her hook, line and sinker and it broke my heart when she broke up with me. She lived about 60 miles from me and she said that was why she thought that "IT" wouldn't work out. I haven't heard from her since then and sometimes I wonder how HER life panned out eg did she ever marry if she's living happy and healthy. Now that I'm fifty I haven't dated since although I have asked a few ladys out but all have said no. I hope you don't mind me asking but did your best friend know about your feelings for her? The reason I ask is because I once fancied a girl who played in the same marching band as me and I never told her how I felt. Heck I never even told my cousin who spoke to her all the time. That's how shy I was and I guess I still am.I hope by these few words you feel that you are not alone even though I haven't personally lost someone I romantically loved the fact that I haven't seen or heard from them in well over 20 years makes it NEARLY seen like it. My thoughts and prayers are with you.🙏

@@davidward9737 Life's events are all learning lessons. If you've learned from those mistakes, then you're better equipped to handling such matters in the future. For those who don't, they're doomed to be in repeat hell. You've, obviously, learned from it & are free to roam on your own accord. Relinquish those imaginary chains of guilt & enjoy what the miracle of life's meant to be. Furthermore, it's what she would want you to do as well. P.s., she knew how you felt about her. Where do you think her fulfillment in life came from?

🔴In this song, a man is falling in love with a girl he has been friends with for a long time. When the band had difficulty coming up with songs for their Wheels Are Turnin' album, they took time off so each member could write alone. Lead singer Kevin Cronin went to Molokai, Hawaii, during his "time off." There, he played around with a song that he wrote 10 years earlier but never finished. When he stopped tinkering with his composition, it had become a song about a person's fear of change - even though he knows that he MUST change.
Kevin Cronin's girlfriends have provided inspiration for several REO hits - he says this one is based on an amalgamation of these relationships, but the song has a deeper meaning.🔴

Since you love this song and the subject matter you have to do a reaction to AMANDA by Boston. The lyrics and vocals are incredible. The song is about the same exact subject. The singer is planning to express his love to a woman who doesn't know how he feels about her and he is asking if she is ready to hear how he really feels about her in the song. Just like in this song he can't wait any longer to express his deep feelings for her. I think Amanda is as good, if not better, than this song and I love them both.

Another great reaction from one of the fastest rising superstar music reactors on RUclips!!! I'm pleased you enjoyed this one as it is a very pretty song! Here are a few more to add to your list! "Lady" and "Babe" from Styx, "All Out of Love" and "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" by Air Supply, "More Than Words" by Extreme, "Try" by Blue Rodeo, "One Less Bell To Answer" by The Fifth Dimension, "Someday Never Comes" by Creedence Clearwater Revival and "Lady" and "Two Of Us" by Supertramp. And btw, both of the songs "Lady" I recommended here are different songs from each other, and both are different to Kenny Rogers' song of the same name!

If you haven't already, give Jackson Browne a listen. "These Days" (written by Browne when he was 16), "In the Shape of a Heart," "For a Dancer," "The Pretender," "Love Needs a Heart,"... Browne is perhaps the most gifted songwriter of his generation. Great music doesn't age.
