Jayasuriya is not just a legend but a school of thought who revolutionized batting for modern day openers in limited overs cricket!!
Prior to him, limited overs opening meant 2 batsmen playing slow and steady, saving wickets and building some runs so that some aggressive batsman later can freely slog in the final overs for a respectable 240-250. This whole concept of putting pressure on the bowlers and slogging right from the first over didn't exist before that.

People giving different ideologies by considering strike rates and record books but at a time where cricket was fading away with very booring conditions this man gave so much light and direction.

Yeah that's true. Even these days I find cricket boring but pant came as a fresh air and cricket looks amazing all of a sudden. Players like Jayasuriya pant can't be compared with others.

This legend Sanath Jayasuriya the Lankan lion was playing in t-20 mode way before even t-20 cricket was invented.

That famous statement from the commentators, “Can you drop Jayasooriya and win matches?” was still mesmerizing in my ears since my childhood watching this match.
