    Lou, one of your best! That number of snakes will be a hard act to follow, not to mention the beauty of the specimens.
    (That's a big plane you fly.)

    Good stuff, I preferred the Friggin Krait to the Many Banded Krait. The Cobras were beautiful. The little Bamboo Viper was a stunner.

      Thanks. I think that viper goes by quite a few different names. I call it the Bamboo Pit VIper, but I think Green Tree Viper is more commonly used.

    I'm not the smartest person in snakes so, I got a question.
    I know snakes use smell and heat sensing organs but, if they use their eyes quite a bit, is it stunning to the snake for a camera to suddenly flash infront of them? Like how it's a bit jarring for us and we get an after image after someone takes a picture.
    Sorry if it's hard to understand this...I'm uh.....English, but I somehow cannot type my own language in an understandable way. Heh!

    • @loub747
      @loub747  7 лет назад +2

      hughstout thanks for commenting. I do believe too many flashes can startle and stress the snake a bit. All the snakes we found were removed from the canal and released back into the wild. I'm hoping to see a few more snakes in Hong Kong later this month.

      Yeah, it's relatively easy herping compared to say Singapore. Like road cruising on foot. Lots of really cool species. The HK skyline is unreal too. I love it there.

      @@loub747 Great video, I'm just catching up on your stuff. Clearly not looking for specifics, but in general in Asia are you able to find snakes right in the city? In National Parks? Do you have to get further outside of the city?

    • @loub747
      @loub747  5 лет назад

      Yeah, really close to the city. You don't have to go far at all. I usually take taxis.

    • @loub747
      @loub747  8 лет назад

      Thanks. The green snake was a Bamboo Pit Viper or also I think it's called a Green Tree Viper. Yeah, hit Tokyo. Found a couple Mashushis and some other stuff. Will put out a video next week when I get some free time. When will you be back there?

    Wow so many in one outing! I am guessing Kowloon side...I have to say that I find your videos not only fascinating, but that they are slowing allaying the innate fear I have of coming across snakes in the wild, as clearly your videos demonstrate vividly that left to their own devices they are not aggressive or prone to move towards people...But you still terrify me watching you walking in open sandals, at night peering up into the overhead foliage, not watching where you are stepping!

    • @loub747
      @loub747  7 лет назад +1

      Yeah, this was on Lantau Island. The two Cobras in this video are a good example. The smaller one would "hood up" to try and scare away predators. The larger one in the water area wouldn't hood up and just wanted to leave. The all just wanted to leave really. The banded krait is one of the most venomous snakes in the world. He too just wanted to go his own way. Even in sandals, I never felt in danger. Had I stepped on a snake I didn't see it could have been a problem. Good times!

    i don't understand, why aren't you worried about being bitten? at least some of those are venomous right?

    • @loub747
      @loub747  6 лет назад +2

      Yeah, every snake in this video is venomous, especially the many banded krait. That would be a really, really bad bite. That said, snakes aren't aggressive for the most part. They just want to get away. Biting is usually a last defense.

    • @hiepho555
      @hiepho555 5 лет назад

      In my country they preferred that krait was “3 steps krait”. You can only make 3 steps after it bit you.
