People who trash Polish lektor omit one important thing: in this type of translation you don't have limitations of following lip movement. Thus you can rewrite dialogues from the ground with near complete freedom, add your artistic spin, while keeping natural flow and vocabulary of your native language. If you're used to this type of voice over, you feel more like hearing narrator of original Roadside Picnic novel, than campy straight-to-DVD action film (that's my impression of English version sadly). Apart from that, this low budget dubbing is associated in Polish pop-culture with mid 80s-late 90s transformation days, when VHS movie market was at its peak (as much as the crime scene). Utilizing such "dated" voice-over added extra layer to already bleak atmosphere in the game, making it at times feel like it was released not that long after actual Chernobyl disaster.
Better subbtitles than "lektor" I think noone except Poles can accept this as a standard. For me as Czech, it sounds like some illegal western VHS from 80s dubbed at home. And there is no lip sync in games, it looks random. In movies ok, but still, good quality dubbing should not look off lips, but problem is that today translations are mostly bad and that must be problem even for your lektor thing.
