When swinging, your weight can be doubled, even tripled due to the speed of your swing and the angle you're swinging from. Not to mention you need SUPER HUMAN levels of strength to hold on to the web, and even if you can, you run the risk of dislocating your shoulders. Allen Pan created a super strength harness prototype to balance these issues out. Theoretically, you are onto something, but you gotta count many factors into this, like the possibility of your web being too long, in which case you'll cheese grate your ass off the floor😂
you can prevent these injuries like developing the web shooters onto a sleeve or a glove because it is attached to your body but it wont injure your wrist or dislocate your shoulder because it is attached to the top half of the body so the sudden pull would be distributed around your body and it would also have better grip onto the body
I love your work, but I dont really think that web shooter is a good starting point, since you need something durable that can store a huge amount of web/string. Also, I think you would have to develop some kind of harness or exoskeleton to make it work perfectly, preventing any possible injury. Dont stop uploading this videos man!
kevlar has some good tensile strength and can support more than the weight of a normal sized human when several (more than 10) strands are braided. It is also very good in the factor of the size of thickness ratio to tensile strength (both naturally and braided)
Have you researched carbon nanotubes? They are 100 times stronger than steel and can be woven into thin thread The thread can hold up to 40,000 pounds. I don't know how you might be able to get your hands on a spool of it, but it can easily be used as webbing
Why not create some sort of fluid that can harden into a substance similar to Kevlar webbings once it comes in contact with the air or something? I don’t know much about this kind of stuff, but it’s just an idea 😅
Technologically possible would suggest a different string though to stiff for the string the applied force when he swings down could cause harm to his arms.

hello, I think your idea is fine but I will give you some advice, make sure that the thread of the web is very resistant and also the cartridge that holds the thread hold it more strongly so that it is very difficult to remove it I hope you serve something
This pretty awsome, however if you swing without a way for the string to comeback the kinetic energy will be enough to break your legs even if your 3 feet of the ground and the way its right now you would only swing once and couldnt go further. If you make the string come back you could swing on one hand while the string on the other hand recoils and then that hand swings and ect. It would look like the spiderman swing and would save time picking off the string on building or save money on string wasted on each string. It also would have to be quick enough for the kinetic energy to last and not turn into potential became by then its to late. And last but not least, it would have to be powerfull enough for it to overcome the kinetic energy forward and not just (seem in the swingers perspecteve) to stay in one place. Its kind of hard to explain without a pic.

Currently the only way I think I’ll be able to swing is with both hands holding on - with just one hand I don’t think it’s possible :P for this project I’m starting at rest on an elevated point, so the only energy I have at the start should be gravitational potential - if I were swinging multiple times in sequence then the kinetic energy at the start of each swing would need to be accounted for, but we’re not there just yet :)
I am pretty good at physics, and 600 lbs should be fine, if you take into account how much you weight, how much gravity will affect you swinging, and centripetal force which will add stress to the cord.
The only problem i see with attaching is how is that grappling hook going to attach to anything? If its a flat glass building then you might break a window and/or not attach and start to fall. Another way you could attach is with magnets (how you have on your current shooters). But magnets don't fix the problem of stone buildings. Lets hope you can do this.

Instead of having a handle, why not make a full body harness (or atleast a harness connecting the wrist mounted web shooters to your hips) similar to what Allen pan did. I mean if lifting straps allow people to hold that much weight plus more on their wrists it should be fine
You would have to evenly balance the pressure throughout your body so that the blood wouldn’t rush from your head to your feet and make you faint. Heat makes blood rush to an area so maybe try a heating pad on your forehead or neck. I’ve seen some rectangular heating pads for pet lizards that might fit well.
You are actually totally making this possible but the one thing you can’t do is go too fast because once you build up more and more speed and if the webs break as you change from web to web you are projecting yourself forward and into a free fall state that could hurt you so if you were to attempt this you would have to be basically iron spider and somehow be able to handle the energy you are putting yourself in but otherwise you can do it also it would be suicide if you did it off a building but a network of lampposts could be easier but you also have to have nothing in your way or else you are going to come at something with a lot of force
You should try braiding the rope more, Spider-Man’s webbing isn’t one single line, it’s several. Think about a bullwhip, which is proven to actually be able to be strong enough to swing on, it’s nothing more than a really thick braid of small rope.
Thanks for commenting! The gator cord has been braided already, if it’s too weak I’m considering braiding multiple of the gator cord together. But at that point you lose a lot of the flexibility of the rope and it may not fit in the cartridge/through the barrel of the web shooter anymore

This may be a stupid comment that you’ve thought of but, With the part you plan on holding onto, you might wanna make that knot or stopper (whatever you use) a bit bigger than the one you showed in the simulation to allow more even weight distribution to that key component and possible preventing some damage

Sure! At the start of the swing, we start at rest at the top of the ledge, and thus the only energy we have is gravitational potential energy. Taking the horizontal zero line to be the lowest point of the swing, we use that to calculate the energy before the swing. Assuming nonconservative forces are negligent, we can say that the energy before the swing is equal to the energy at all points during the swing. Using this, we were able to calculate the kinetic energy at the bottom of the swing, as at that point all the gravitational potential energy has transferred into kinetic energy.

So maby we can press a button for a lighter to turn on to melt it to make it sticky when it shoots out. Then we could let go of the lighter button and let the rest shoot out. How are you planning on not breaking your arms message me as I have a few ideas that may work as you would need a full body suit to ensure the weight is shared out through your body so you don't break your arm while swinging.
I plan to use both arms to hold on while swinging, and starting with the rope taut so there’s no sudden jerk and tension on the rope halfway through my fall.

Definitely not all the buildings, but most have ledges of some kind that can be hooked onto
