Hi everybody! I had some technical errors (wrong captions) + parts that I had to edit out that's why I've decided to reupload this video. Anyway, what are your top 3 emergency bag essentials? Let me know in the comments section! ^^ 👇 🙏

      Top 3 emergency bag items:
      1. Bottled water and water filter. You can survive 2 days, maybe 3 without water.
      2. First aid kit, and not just band aids, but also basic medicine.
      3. Shelter. A poncho, a bandana, some warm clothes , waterproof footwear and a blanket.

    Hi Rainbowholic!
I appreciate this video about preparedness. Since you're probably preparing for a natural disaster kind of emergency, and since I've been into emergency prepping for a while, here are some tips I want to share with you and with everyone who's putting together their own kit.
    1. Go light.
You might not be able to safely rush out of an emergency, if your backpack is too heavy. So, switch anything you can with the lighter option.
    For example:
    - switch the many torchlights with a pocket torchlight to carry with you and a LED lamp installed on the front strap or your backpack if u want to go hands free. Pack rechargable batteries and a charger if u ever run out of power.
    - Switch your bulky radio with a slimmer, lighter one. It will do the job and you can use the side pocket to carry other things.
    - switch the sweets with protein bars. They will keep you full for longer, while the sweets only give you an initial kick due to their sugars, but little to no energy.
    - switch the plastic bottle with a metal one. Add a sterilizing light to clean your water if you're unsure about its purity. You can find these lights at outdoor/tracking specialized shops, military supply shops, or simply Amazon
    - you can switch (or add to) your portable toilet with a pee card. It's basically a card that folds to create a funnel, so that we can pee standing, anywhere and without sitting on potentially unclean toilets.
    - switch your slippers with flip flops. Same function, less space
    - switch the mat (you're probably never going to use it) with a SLEEPING BAG. This is important. You need to rest well to keep functioning.
    2. The essentials
    - Bring a steel cup that you could use both as a plate and as a cup to boil the water to prepare your ramen. You can stuff things inside it when it's in your bag.
    - Medical bag. Bringing meds and bandaids is fine, but carrying a tourniquet, alcohol, cotton and self-adhering stitches (they are like stickers to put on deeper wounds) might be life-saving. Also, a pair of tweezers and a lighter.
    - by this time, you probably have room enough to fit a pair of light sneakers. You need something comfortable in case you ran away from home in your slippers, or if it's raining and your shoes get wet.
    3. Safety and communications.
There are mini-phones available on the market. They are smaller than a lighter and work just as an old school phone (one with the buttons). You can keep it in a pocket along with a prepaid sim card that you can make good use of, just in case there are any public phones nearby or you forgot to bring your phone in the hurry.
    - carry one HIGH quality bank with you, even better if it charges with solar energy. You need something good to rely on, in case you run low on electricity for a while.
    - a pepper spray. Girls, this is important. Attach one to the strap of you backpack, the one you can reach the easiest way with your dominant hand. USE A MAGNETIC RING, not a clip, because you need to be able to quickly strap it off your bag and have it in your hand. This is so, so important.
    - also: keep your IDs and your scanned documents in the pockets that are directly touching your back. They will be harder to steal, or to lose.
And that's it! I just want to add, if you live in a dangerous area, it would be useful to learn First Aid basics. Ask your local Red Cross section, they usually make basic courses aimed at civilians and law enforcers. You might never know when this or that skill might save your life, or another's.
These are my suggestions about emergency bags, I hope I didn't sound boring or pretentious - I just want everyone to be able to take care of themselves and of others at the best of their possibilities. I hope nobody ever needs this kind of tips in their life, but just in case, it's better to be prepared!
I send a hug to you and all of your followers, stay safe! 💕🌈

Thank you for sharing this! I'd like to recommend everyone to write down the expiration dates of things like food and medication in their kits. Whether it's on a piece of paper on the fridge or a notification on your phone, knowing when things are about to expire without digging through your pack can save a lot of hassle and/or heartache. When you notice something on your list is close to expiring you can put it on your shopping list and, once purchased, switch it out so that nothing goes to waste.

I would say that my top 3 are:
    * My hearing aids and its chargers. Can't hear properly without them.
    * A complete first aid kit, one with spare cpr masks since I'm cpr certified, including my cpr card.
    * Something that can be used to make shelter, similar to the aluminum blanket. If it's large enough, you could throw it over a branch and have a makeshift tent.

I think you should add these important things: some source of protein, because I noticed the food you packed was all carbs. I don't know if you eat meat, but beef jerky sticks are good sources of protein that are portable and don't spoil. Also, you should add sunscreen, bar of soap, and the LifeStraw personal water filter to purify any water and make it drinkable. Because after all, water is more important than food.

Some medicines like Crocin(for headaches & fever), painkiller, antibiotics, multivitamins, antiallergic are essential so you can also fit them in.

These bags really are necessary. Because in times of stress or being in a great hurry. You do not tend to make the best choices of what to carry. And many things you might need are forgotten. Preparing ahead of time and not under stress. Your whole bag will be better suited to helping in your emergency. And it will be a matter of grab and go!!! Saving precious time!!!. Not having to hunt and pack a bag.

Sanitary napkins can be used to stop wounds from bleeding Tweezers to pull out glass or splinters. Some vitamins 🤗 Some baking soda (Soda Bicarbonate) It can be used for mouthwash, teeth cleaning, deodorant, treat heartburn/indigestion, cleaning. Also, make a paste using some water to relieve bug bites, bee stings & sunburn Stay safe, everyone 💕

Wow, that is an extremely well put together emergency bag. It's the second time watching it but I don't think I watched it completely the first time. The only thing I would suggest is a little wire antenna for your radio. I keep an emergency radio in my kit just like you and one day I tried it when it was cloudy outside and it wasn't picking up reception. So I added an accessory antenna because during a disaster it may be difficult to get reception on your radio. Other than that you got everything covered perfectly. Canada.

You need to be able to carry your bag on several miles so test it to see if it's okay.
You should have disposable gloves too in case someone is hurt and you have to take care of a wound and touch blood.
You should have two way of making fire in case one doesn'y work.

P.S. You also need a change of pants or tights and a top , poly vest, 2x wool hiking socks, crushable hat or poly cap, flatten it all in an airtight bag. You need safety googles and xtra prescription glasses ( old ones or new with a cheap plastic flex frame), 2-3 bright yellow or orange cotton bandannas as signal flags, dust mask, towel, etc., good hard sole short boots, to walk thru rubble, Finally a jo crooked cane (2/3 m) or a 1.5 m Bo staff, 25mm around, white was wood or oak, with a small rubber heavy duty crutch tip. It’s a walking aid and will ward off evil 2-4 foot critters. U r in Japan, finding instructional s should be easy. U tube is full of them , but live is better.

Thank you thank you thank you for this video! I have to hit people over the head that they should have a to-go bag, but always say "I'll get around to it". I'm not directly affected by wildfires or earthquakes, but sometimes hurricanes, floods, ice/snow storms, severe thunderstorms, and definitely tornadoes and damage from them recently (trees and power lines broken). Power goes out for 10 or so days, you need to be prepared and pretend you're camping. It's a mindset my mom and I try to have, and to be simple and thankful. No heat during snow storms is killer on me. No AC during a severe storm is bad too. I shared one of my Japanese fans with my mom when we had a storm in August.
I think I'm going to re-do my to-go bag with some items you have suggested, because I didn't think of the possibility my mom and dog and I would get separated. We are told to pack for 3 day supply (clothes, etc), bring PPE gear and hazard clothes or vest, and definitely a bible. I never thought about including a stationery set with pictures of my family cuz I miss them or to show to others if they are missing lol I have a backpack that has a lot of pockets I use now, but I looove that bag with even mooore pockets!
I think I should get my extra utensils/chopsticks/bento and make room for it. I completely forgot about Japan's portable toilets, but also disposable panties?! Yes please! Japan knows everything! Ah, what about pads or tampons along with first aid? More granola bars, cereal, protein like nuts are also good for food supply, but yes ramen! We have a small gas stove to use to boil water/food. I tried looking for a cute fox hanging lantern and head light I saw once, but I never saw it again at the store =/ I just have an old Pokeball area light XD I'll repurpose my glow sticks as well. I should get a blanket or something to lay on, too. The seat cushion and picnic spread were great ideas. I have a butt cushion regardless cuz of my back injury, but I doubt I'll think of it during an emergency. You're right about labelling things. The last thing you want to do is search for something when your mind and body are already in a panic.
How often do you replace items in your bag? We do every 6 months to rotate food and batteries. I recently found out some clothes/light jacket don't fit me anymore, so I had to change them. I put them in one of those vacuum seal/SpaceBags and sat on it until the air came out XD I also have another duffelbag with winter clothes I can grab. I admit I've been lazy, so thank you again for posting this video and not being ashamed to pack cute things to keep sane =)

I was thinking you might want to add a can of "sterno" or sometimes they call it "canned heat." It's a gel in a can you can light and it acts like a little stove. Sometimes they use it for keeping food warm during a buffet or catering. I think you're well prepared but why no bowl? Maybe find a squishy silicon bowl for the noodles ;)

An excellent kit! Japan takes this much more seriously than most nations, both in terms of response planning and education. I like that you have the map and compass in what is an urban bag- very, very few people have walked their entire town, even fewer when you live in an actual city. I also like your spare shopping bag for those things we find. I've taught this subject for a couple decades, and while there are places where economies of space and weight could be taken, this is better than most such kits I've seen people build. My only real recommendations would be to add a second pen (or a wood pencil and a sharpener), some more water, a couple trash bags, and leather outer gloves as those knit ones look warm but will shred quickly. Move your first aid to where you can get to it easier. That, and leave some space to rescue your Totoro (I've never seen that on in the States). If you were in one of my classes 95% with most of that being the lack of water.
No extra credit for the cuteness of some of the items, but it is good for your morale.

Looks good, I'd probably change a few things out of personal preference. The teeth wipes are single use and disposable so I'd probably swap that out for a bamboo toothbrush (light) and either a travel size toothpaste or toothpowder. Travel sized dental floss is small and light, you can get travel size mouth wash.
You need some toilet paper or a couple of packs of tissues as it can be used for multiple things.
Those disposable toilets are good in a pinch but I would also get a "she wee" or similar as they can be cleaned and reused.
The collapsible cup is a tricky choice because plastic is lighter but metal woud be easier to sterilize. I have a titanium spork which has a cutting knife (for food) at the other end. Titanium is pretty light.
For feminine products in a situation where supplies may be hard to get either washable pads or a menstrual cup would be useful.
A bar of soap perhaps for both cleaning yourself and cleaning clothes if hand washing.
I like the emergency contact numbers in that keyring. I have seen some people back up important documents to a small USB drive in their emergency pack in the case of not being able to return home. Not sure how that works for things like birth certificates etc. I would have to look into that more.
The umbrella I would swap for a water proof jacket as that will keep your torso dry and keep the wind chill factor down. Probably depends on your climate but personally I find umbrellas a pain to use (windy in the winter) and that's a hand you now can't use to hold anything else.
Are you not allowed to have a pocket knife of any kind? Here in the UK we also have strict rules over knife carrying but in general a small multitool/swiss army knife is allowed as long as the blade is not fixed or does not have a quick release and is under a certain size. There are certain places where it may get confiscated but those would be places you know not to take it to in the first place but in general as long as you are not up to anything fishy it should be fine.
Oh one more thing I've thought of that can come in handy is a small sewing kit. I once went camping and didn't take one because I thought what were the chances that I'd need one and the very next day I needed one. I don't carry the full travel kit as it came to me, just white, black, grey and navy thread, a few sewing needles and safety pins and a small pair of scissors (swapped out the scissors in the kit for a lighter one). The space that is left I've added a cut down nail file, a tiny pair of tweezers and a small screwdriver. There is still room in there if I think of anything else I may need.

    Great video!
The neck pillow and kneel mat/seat cushion are great ideas.. I'd just maybe add the mat into a large bag like you umbrella so if you rest somewhere muddy or sewage, you can pack it back up into the sealed bags so you don't contaminate the other stuff in your bag - or maybe attach it to outside of bag 🤔
Thanks for sharing and stay safe ❤

Nice bag! My emergency bag is VERY similar to yours. And have the same items packed. Enjoyed your video. And thank you for the English captions. The little hanging items are cute on your bag and do serve a purpose. But you might consider putting some inside your bag. They rattle and make noise. Which might draw attention if you are trying to go unnoticed. Thank you for sharing your bag items.

I got good tips for disaster preparedness, Ms. Kaila! Thank you for sharing this video. I too would back a mini-journaling kit! 😁 Oh, before I forget, in preparing for evacuation area/center stay, please don't forget to pack your travel transportation money/railway pass. Here in the Philippines, just in case evacuation areas are full, or you are informed of changes in plans, and the frontliners have their work cut out for them, have extra means to get home or to another safe area.

This is great and thank you for the links and resources. I would bring a rope and a lightweight tarp (maybe painter's plastic tarp if you don't have room for something heavier?). You can tie the rope around two trees and put the plastic over it to make a shelter for rain and some protection from bugs and such if you must stay outside for a period of time

@@shernchine ok, perhaps between to poles or rocks or constructed objects. Or to sit on or drape over you to protect from sun or inclement weather. A tarp takes up such little space for its versatility in protecting you from the elements

    Hi great video!
Do not forget Triple anti-biotic ointment for cuts, burns, an Ace bandage a handkerchief you can use for an injured arm, head protection, to keep you cool, and to tie things together, a pair of nylons (panty hose) they are good for warmth, but also in case of leg or arm swelling in place of a tourniquet.
Honey sticks , can of spray paint you can spray an area so people can find you if need be.
A knife (Swiss army they have a multi tool option with a hammer for breaking glass) tennis balls good for support, you can cut them open and help slide heavy objects, a fire starter, baseball cap, tablets to turn bad water into drinking water, large bath towel it can be used for so many things. Dish washing gloves they are thicker than rubber gloves and can protect your hand in case you have to touch something toxic.
Some bells, in case you have to tie them to something so someone can hear you so you can keep your energy from yelling to let them know where you are.
Tea bags good for insect bites, swelling and infection, a collapsible water bottle, water proof paper , small Pocket watch, lip balm, eye drops, bailing wire always handy to tie things together or to fix metal to metal and it’s light weight.
Water proof container for your phone.
Haha I’m sure there something I missed. But your so clever I’m sure you will get what you need 😃 oh!!! Bright duck tape and a reflector vest for at night.

Eat some of you're candies now. And swap it for nuts or proteinbars. When you're hungry you don't want candy
Take some of all the wet wipes and go for wool blanket or a sleepingbag.
You can stille use the things you take out for everyday use and not wasted any money :)

Well done. Insect repellent stickers are a good idea. I have not seen them until today.
Other than the cup, I don't see any means for collecting water. Correction, plastic bags can hold water, but you will need a way to filter or purify water. What water filtering or purifying products are available in Japan?

hi please stay safe out there! i want to prepare my own emergency bag too but idk where to start since there is so much to prepare. love your video it's so thorough, everything is so functional yet aesthetic and cute, which will bring a small comfort if emergency does happen and you're alone and cold in danger somewhere. and you're so organized! after researching around, i'd should bring a protein/energy bar as we will need the nutrition! and rope (always handy) and a fire steel in addition of a lighter (you can use fire steel thousands of times and it can still be used even when it's wet, just in case something goes wrong with the lighter, need a bit of practice tho), and maybe a water filter or water sanitizer pills, just in case we run out of clean water source

My suggestions: 1) pack umbrella and rain coat on top for fast access.
    2) Discard 2 flashlights but keep radio/flashlight/cell-charger device and headlamp
3)combine all batteries so you can re-charge with above device.
4)Discard picnic mat. Instead use simple plastic sheet and inflatable mattress for comfortable sleeping 5) pack a clean towel for bathing 6) pack some light sleep clothes because, Japanese people will invite you to sleep over at their house.

    PACK SMARTER.
Shoulder Strap pouch: face mask and chap stick on 1 side and pocket knife on the other.
Top pouch: only for headlamp, medkit, tissues, white tiger balm. (Reserved for emergency and often used items)
Side open Pouches: water bottle on 1 & umbrella and larger alcohol bottle on the other.
Honestly too many to complaints about, not on the gear itself but more on placement.
Add a trowel ,small repair kit, (use duct tape not masking tape.) In urban setting multi tool is more useful than a pocketknife.
stop putting stuff on you pull zip,.
