I'm using the pixel 6a almost one year now .. Still it is fantastic in performance and camera . Upgrading from 6a to 7a is worthless . In terms of camera , I still not sure about what sensor use in 7a ( I think the 64 megapixel sensor is still competitive with the very old Sony sensor used in pixel 6a)
I think going from the Pixel 6a to a Pixel 7a is worth the upgrade. The 90 Hz refresh rate, face unlock, 2 extra gigs of RAM, newer Tensor chip, and camera.
I'd be interested in a pixel 5 and 6 vs 7a. I think this is pretty good but like you said, you can already get the 7 for the same price basically
The Pixel 7a only seems over priced due to the Pixel 7 being under priced.
It's also more expensive than previous A models
Bit disappointed there aren't trade in deals on par with the 6a last year. My 4a would have gotten the 6a for $150 with the earbuds. If I trade in my 7 Pro I'd still owe money, that's ridiculous. (Especially since it's the 512 GB model) Google had it right last year so why drop the ball this hard?

Beautiful but I'm gonna keep my 6a - this is the first phone I've been able to love since all the way back to BlackBerry and personally like gen6 style (them star trek vibes from the visor) a little more 😊 😇

I love these midrange phones I have the iPhone SE 3rd gen and the pixel 6a and I love them
I went back to my 6a after having some issues with the 7 Pro (Mostly from physical issues like the curved screen and all glass build) and was briefly considering the 7a.
Id say stay where you are with the 6a, like you said the differences are minimal and the trade ins both Google and others are offering are laughable. Which is sad as the 6a had some amazing trade in sales (The 5a and 4a trade in would net you the 6a and some Pixel 'a' series buds for $150) and Google would only offer $136 for my 6a towards the 7a.
But I would say upgrade when the 7a goes on the inevitable sale, the 6a has stayed around $300 and that's a great deal. But it is absolutely not worth the full $500 price.
I agree about mid-range..so I guess the iphone 14 and 14 plus are mid-range also

I think it's at a perfect price and definitely loving the 7a... Look at the end of the day google is still a company looking to make money they are not our buddies. Not being mean to anyone just being real about business side of things.
Thanks for the nice review....Google Pixel is 509 euros but you get a free Google Pixel A-Buds and the Pixel 6A is 349 euros here in the Netherlands. I will settle with the 6A as my firs Google Phone for now due to budget.. : )
I own a Pixel 6a, but I wish it supported wireless charging. The phone has improved over time, and I don’t see much benefit in upgrading from 6a to 7a for daily use. I subscribe to the 200GB Google One plan, which includes Google’s VPN service. I’m not sure if other 6a owners without this plan can access the VPN. I am more curious about the Pixel 8 series for a future upgrade.

You can get a refurbished 6a for 180 with a warranty in great condition on ebay, for a phone that came out only a few months ago.
That destroys almost all comparisons. The camera, processor, battery in REAL WORLD scenarios exactly the same. The basic face unlock and the slow wireless charging does not compensate.
Be better with your money. 6a all day.
The 7a's main sensor is smaller than the 7's. It probably doesn't make a difference for normal point and shoot photography, but in more extreme conditions you are going to want the bigger sensor.
Jay the Pixel 6a does include VPN service at least in the UK as I do have VPN on my Pixel 6a.
The 7A is a good price phone but in reality the seven is on sale for a lot less than $499 on Amazon right now and the seven is slightly better. I just can't pull the trigger on the 7A. I have had every A series phone there is but is it just me?
They've made the 7 way too affordable. I don't think it's even making it overpriced. They added some good upgrades to this phone compared to last year's 6A.

I said it for iphone I'll say it for Google I hate paying more and more for frivolous camera upgrades when the last camera was plenty good I do love googles camera software I won't lie I'm not even huge on camera tech but upgrading the hardware and charging more and more each year for a glorified camera update annoys the crap out of me to me it's all about battery durability and performance everything else is kinda just fluff I don't need or want to pay to much for I left iphone back in iphone 7 days becuase they weren't updating durability or battery both sucked and they didn't seem to care or get it together till like iphone 13 or something when their battery and durability went from crap to through the roof but also their pricing just got beyond insane I loved the big Max model and those things are like 1200 dollars sadly a lot of phones went that way on price and that's why mid rangers and budget phones have exploded these prices are pushing a lot of people out of the market
I think All the Pixel A series should always have a bigger display just like Samsungs. Most people nowadays prefer 6.4inch and up. Keep the price at least $450 until they catch up with Samsung & iPhone. Most people still don't know what a Pixel or Google phone is .
The 7a seems to be doing a better job with direct sunlight reflection spots.

The last thing I think of with the a series is it being overpriced. I probably won't upgrade 2 the 7a until the end of the year. I haven't had my 6a for a full year yet.

Yeah my 3 xl had an insane good finger print reader. My 6a is really good now. It wasn't until an update a while back. It was akmost unusable before.
