I am also an INFP (single) mom and I can relate to everything that you mentioned. I dream of living in a tiny house with a big backyard in a small town so that my kids have a safe place to go outside and run around. I concern myself with appropriately answering them with facts and truth when they ask, I hope I make our current home pleasant and heavenly enough for them, I try to encourage them to try different things out if they want to, etc. But then I also feel the burden of keeping a schedule, that's really hard for me in the beginning and I've gotten better but it's still a struggle.
Yesss im a major iNFP and always wondered what i'd be like as a mom. now i know lol. I totally imagine my future kids running around barefoot in my cottage forest chasing butterflies and petting horses
+Danille Sindac That would be true if your children shared your personality type but they usually don’t and they have their own ideas about what activities they want to partake in. I am an INFP too and I imagined life with children this way too but my son is the polar opposite of me and would rather play with trucks or pull all of the books off the shelves and rearrange them.
I’m an infp dad and I can relate to this. Another thing I think can be a challenge for our type is chores/housework. For me it’s like when I’m spending a lot of my time on busy work, I get burnt out and start to feel like I’m missing out on experiencing things with my kids, but if I spend too much time avoiding the housework end of things I start to stress about that and it makes it harder to be present. It’s something I find I need to consciously put effort into to keep the balance
I’m an INFP mom and I relate SO much!! I always feel like I’m not giving my children enough freedom to flourish in their creative expression! And I have an ideal of what their childhood should look like. 💕 I definitely take time for myself to sing and dance!
I'm INFP but not a mom yet. I was just curious of the INFP parenthood experience, looking forward to becoming a mom one day. (I'm kind of an ambivert so sometimes I will get ENFP but more consistently been testing as INFP)
Just by the way you talk about your children and your worries as a mom, I can tell that you shouldn’t worry so much. This may be off of your subject, I’ve never taken the Myers Briggs test, though you have definitely peaked my interest. This is something i don’t share with many people so I’m kinda out of my comfort zone. Anyway, I have sleep apnea. When I began having problems, that’s probably the 5th thing my dr checked out. Unfortunately we believe it’s even more than that. I have every single symptom and sign of narcolepsy. So, with that being said, life as a mother is a struggle. I do fail on every level. I used to be the mom that did everything! I used to have an unbelievable amount of energy. Not anymore. I sleep all of the time. I enjoy crafting. I have a room full of craft things that most of it won’t get done, but I keep buying the stuff hoping the dr will find the magic medication to keep me awake. When I know my kids have something going on at school and I need to be there, the night before is terrifying for me because I’m so afraid that I won’t be able to get up. Same thing if my husband has a job out of town one day, I’m afraid I won’t wake up in time to pick them up from school. That’s happened before. That makes me feel so low! Unworthy to be the mother of these great kids. I won’t keep on, though there are so many stories, I just wanted you to know, you are enough. I would give anything to be able to even wake up on a regular schedule. So the next time you doubt yourself, please don’t. There are many mothers out there just like me who would do anything just to be normal again. Enjoy every moment you can with those young ones. They grow up very fast! 😊💜
So sorry you have to deal with that:/ something we all realize everyday is each of us are fighting silent battles. The best moms are the moms that are doing the best they can with the cards they have been dealt...I can tell you are doing just that and I’m sure your kids feel that as well;) xx
Drakes Nest thank you so much for your kind words. That truly meant a lot, as so many people don’t understand, so I get talked about a lot. I’m very blessed though, my sweet kids well, the ones still at home, who haven’t grown up yet, they understand better than anyone else, and they don’t get upset with me. They are troopers. I still feel guilty though, that’s just the mom in me. 😊💜
I am an INFP too! The thing that first drew me to your channel was your energy in your videos, I felt like I was listening to someone with a lot of similarities to me (personality-wise)! Over the years as I’ve taken the test, I’ve gotten different results (I used to be an INTP). It’s really cool to see how we evolve! Love the video ❤️
A kindred spirit! Lol haha I’ve gotten enfp before but I’m always nfp...I’m always like 49% e and 51% i lol but yea it’s totally fun retaking it over the years!:)
I am an INFP (49% extrovert, 51% introvert according to my last test so I’m with ya), my husband is an ESTJ. I’ve always imagined myself as a mom, but I am scared I will lose part of myself in the process or regret it or that I will not be a good mom or SOMETHING haha. The other side of me says that’s crazy & I am just worrying, but I guess the unknown can do that to you. We are in talks of having kids in the next year & I’m getting more excited about it. It is because of those worries I came here for a perspective I could also relate to. Thank you ☺️ this is the first video of yours I have seen, I think you have a lovely energy about you!
Will you pleasssssssse post more infp mom videos!! I loved this one. Shared it with my husband. And we just laughed at the similarities!! You are so great! Want to get to know you more. I often feel misunderstood, I have yet to find someone with my personality type. Infps are rare :)
I'm an ISTJ so very logical and stubburn! People say I'm creative but I see any creativeness as logical thinking. Like why would I spend money on something if I can learn to do it myself! Yes it will create something but not for the reasons other people might do it! Your idealism is great and I strive for the same things as you regarding my son (even considering moving to Sweden!) but again it's more logical thinking because the facts tell me that one is better than the other. I personally don't see my personality type as compatible with kids because they're so unpredictable and they do things that are irrational and illogical! 😂😂😂 Personality tests are soooo interesting!
I’m also an INFP and felt like I was listening to myself talk 😂 my husband found this video and sent it to me. Very relatable! Thanks for sharing. I’d love hear what works for you in terms of planning and family as an INFP if you want to share
Weird one but I am an INFP male and I wonder what type of dad I will be like when I'm older. I also am very idealistic. In my personal life its given me a great moments. In the career aspect though, I can't say I've ever been completely fulfilled. Still working on that. Liked the video, subscribed :)
I think there are great parts of being an INFP parent because your always alittle bit of a kid yourself haha get to relive your childhood with them lol and also knowing my weaknesses has always been a good thing, bc I can work on them:)
Yeah Adam I’m an INFP Dad. I will say it’s a hand holding through life, let them come into their own, type thing for me. She is 10 and my true life’s sidekick who I’m actually the most comfortable spending time with. Her mom (I’m not with her anymore) is an ESTJ and over protects her with many rules and structure. Although it is important to instill rules and not be just buddy buddy with them, I feel that with our creative natured mind we can get them to still do those things, but making it feel like they came to that decision on their own which is early self confidence empowerment in my opinion. It’s weird in that she actually gets pretty sassy with her mom and grandmother (both over protective parenting styles), but with me she intently listens and just does things instead of backtalk which tells me there is something to our methods.. The mom will actually do who art projects for school and also design her gingerbread houses at Christmas time.... you come to my house and the dining room table is full of DIY slime, clay sculptures, coloring books, popsicle catapults all of which I didn’t lay one finger on. The ginger bread houses can get rather crazy looking here and usually fall apart, BUT I wouldn’t have it any other way and it’s AWESOME to see that side of her and how much she “wants” to do her own stuff. But yeah, it’s a really cool experience to help develop a little mini me into the person they will become.. Sean
@@INFPHD Sean that is BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much for sharing your experience of your special bond with your daughter. I’ve been having reservations about ever having children because I feel like I may never be ready because children seem to need so much “STRUCTURE” which is a big and scary obstacle for me in adulthood. I sprinkle out here and there when absolutely necessary but it’s not the path most traveled. What does time management look like for you as an INFP parent?
@@TheHoopLaedy yeah I love my kid and she’s pretty much the only one I hangout with when I come home from traveling. However, I wouldn’t consider myself a kid/ big family person. I do have extremely good time management skills carrying over from my 9 years in the military and I’m like never late to anything which isn’t stereotypically INFP fitting, but again, just stuff I gained from my experiences to which we are all obviously different in that sense. I do enjoy her sponge type mind where I can fill it up with my crazy wisdom that most adults seem to dismiss and she is deeply taking it all in lol. So yeah, there are pluses and minuses with a kid, but if I wouldn’t have had one in my lifetime that would have been perfectly cool. So don’t feel as though you are weird for not having one and even though you may miss out on the experience of it…I think INFPs tend to do pretty good with no one reliant on them and we can continue to flow with what we want to do when we want - kids don’t provide that freedom (not their fault just the parent/ kid dynamic). @@INFPHD That’s great that you’ve developed those time management skills in the military! Everything is about what has been routine for us and every routine for each person and infp is different as you pointed out. I thought about possibly not having children for my sanity’s sake but I would definitely regret not knowing what kind of human I could create and help to mold along with my husband.
I'm an ISFJ. I find the personality test very interesting and crazy accurate. I think I bounce between being extroverted at times. But after kids, I land on the side of introvert more than extrovert. Which is hard, because my daughter is very extroverted and we are in the Foriegn language field. So I have to push myself more. Also, I am a perfectionist! Which has been a challenge being a Mommy.
