Foster Brooks' "Airline Pilot" sketch of him and Dean Martin in a piano bar is hilarious. It's here on RUclips, and I've watched it over and over, each time laughing like I've never seen it before. Brooks' abilities were fantastic, and I don't mean flying an airplane!
Foster never cracks, I've watched dozens of these things, and the audience will be dying, but he keeps playing it straight. It's really amazing from a comedic standpoint.
Watch the Lucille Ball roast. Whenever he calls her “Loose” and says that’s what the football team used to call her, he turns to Dean momentarily and just as he turns back to the audience he’s still smiling and then he cracks a little smile as he turns to Lucy. That’s the only time I’ve ever seen him lose his composure, though. He was a master of his craft.
@@kevinmontgomery1383 I gotta admit I'd never make it as a comedian; there's no way I could do a comedy routine without breaking character and laughing, but Foster plays it straight. I'm Foster's granddaughter. Im seeing a lot of comments regarding MADD ending has career. To set the record straight, he was actually in partnership with MADD, they had a wonderful relationship for many years. I have multiple letters and plaques from them thanking him for bringing awareness to the "dark side" of drinking. I also have 2 PSA's I did with him in the late 80's for them. His career came to end because he got sick. Then he spent the last 4 years of his life here at home with his family until he passed.
Foster Brooks! Probably the most irreverent, funniest, innovative humorist EVER! No vulgarity, but was not afraid to "push the envelope"; however, his humor is too intelligent for today's audience b/c most folks today can't comprehend subtlety.
Some of his subtle humor and plays on words are simply incredible!!!!! He is absolutely hysterical!! He also used irony to attack racism in some of his routines...by acting smug, saying something stupid...and immediately fall, slip or do something else...he was an extremely intelligent person!!!
Foster Brooks is in the top 5 of my all time favorite comedians. He's a one trick pony with only the drunken routine, but his material and timing was always impeccable.
What we really need is the complete unedited Foster Brooks. Everything from the cutting room floor. No more short changing the lovers of laughter. On blue ray as well.
